  1. That is a really good point. I can see a lot of people having the same stand point. What I don't understand, probably due to ignorance, but how really outstanding development teams will use EA as a publisher, only for their hard work to have a lot of negative press, and piss off a lot of hard core fans.
  2. I forgot to add that as an alternative :P You are right most of the time it is script kiddies, however it must be a pretty large botnet.... had me thinking.
  3. He said he cant do that, which is why he wants to buy the phone outright.
  4. *Jumps on the EA Bashing Bandwagon* As any BF3 player or live stream viewer will know, the BF3 game servers are down due to DDoS attacks. A recent quote on the issue from a spokesperson: "We are incredibly disappointed by these activities and the impact they are having on all of our ability to enjoy BF3, thank you for your patience as we work to resolve these issues." The hypocrisy of their disappointment is overwhelming. My query, do you think this attack is someone taking an active stand against the bullshit? If so, why attack BF3 game servers? A more interesting question: What is going to happen to EA, do you reckon the majority of consumers will just continue to put up with their malpractices? What can they do the completely reform their image? (I don't think their huge restructuring plans that involved firing thousands of employees helped them)
  5. One of his requirements is for a phone second hand under $150. I very much doubt you can get any of those phones for that price.
  6. It changes for where you are, how much is the google nexus where you are from?
  7. Probably the Nexus :) Nice and cheap, great hardware, completely droid. Most of those "pros" were your personal opinion. Not everyone prefers a lighter feel for example.
  8. Shift+Tab, inverted indents, great for programming. (With hyperdesktop installed, default hot key of Ctrl+shift+4, use it every day, printscreen+edit+auto post to imgur+auto copy to clipboard) That windows + left/right/up just blew my mind.
  9. I am about to move networks for my phone contract, so I look around the networks that I can choose, look for coverage and comparison between prices as techonoligies are changing pretty rapidly. (Usually go for the cheapest possible as I am a student, by I understand cheap isn't always best). Details. On my search, I found that the only reviews I could find were from horrible public review sites, whereupon people only go if they want to complain about something. It's completely understandable that people are more likely to leave a negative review of something, rather than a good review if everything is ok. As Linus often points out in his videos, people only tend to go on support forums if they have a problem, which is why you see a disproportionate amount of people complaining about products.Apart from what I would think is a small minority, who(not in the retail/reviewing business) would go on a website talking about their product and service that met their expectations? Going back to the reason that this came to mind, phone networks. I have been with many phone networks, never really having any complaints with any of the networks, for some reason I decided to check out the reviews, and found not one site where the average of customer reviews was over 2/3 stars out of 5, for any of the networks here in the UK. Do you think this is due to the nature of phone companies, selling a service rather than a product? I would think similar results would occur if your electricity/gas companies were reviewed in the same manner. Or perhaps because they really are all shite services? Hopefully this is coherent enough for you to read, and at least grasp what I am trying to say. How much credibility do you give the general public when it comes to reviewing products/services?
  10. Should submerge in mineral oil. It will run much quieter.
  11. Looks like a nice NAS, I'll look into finding it cheap somewhere. From some quick browsing I see about £95, which is around $140 USD I guess? Thanks for your responses btw :)
  12. I saw some reviews claiming that it didn't support it, but comments on the said reviews seemed to disagree. I could use a network drive, but they are usually a lot more expensive.
  13. Ello ello, I am going to be upgrading my current phone to either the S4 or the HTC one, I was wondering if someone out there could help me out with a few questions I had. Regarding the One: The non-expandable storage is kind of a big deal, would it possible to link up a external hard drive (on the go) via usb connector in order to dump files from the phone? I have also heard of the HTC excelling in low light, but how does it stand up against the s4, or some cheap point and shoots? I'm going to be travelling alot, and it would be ideal if I could just use my phone. Thanks! Tom
  14. I personally have used Eclipse, obviously with ADT, and It is perfect. Its really useful to have inbuilt emulators and great support for debugging live onto any droid device you have, and I would say the interfaces are easy to get used to and can make developing pretty speedy. I cant speak for Xamarin, but I agree with Mike. If you are a decent programmer with C#, and have familiarity with the basics of mobile phone applications, you can start messing around with applications right away. From then onwards, its as easy as making any other application.
