Solid build. Do you plan on overclocking your CPU? If the answer is no, then drop the CPU cooler from your build and use the included cooler with the CPU (it's actually pretty decent). Use the saved money from that to buy a more reliable power supply, or at least a set of higher Mhz RAM sticks.. but probably the power supply

I could get one for free, an i7-4770, but I wasn't sure if the virtual cores would make much of an impact to be worth the hassle. I don't plan on playing other games or upgrading to a higher resolution. Thoughts?

Wufflez got a reaction from da na in why are laptop hard drives so slow?
Laptop Hard drives run at 5400 RPMs. This is much slower than the already slow 7200 RPM. Laptop manufactorers won't put the 7200 RPM hard drives in their laptops because laptops are portable, and can be moved around. A 7200 RPM hard drive will fail very quickly (1 year or 2) if it's moved around frequently. Also 7200 RPM Hard drives consume much more power compared to 5400 rpm hard drives

It's quite alright. I appreciate your efforts. If anything new comes up with it, I'll update you but I think it's joining the dead drive collection

Really without an OC, I don't see the point of the AIO. Especially one as high end as the H100i.
I'd grab a Dark Rock 4, Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition, etc.

As for the case, I like the Cooler Master H500 or the Fractal Design Meshify

Not really worth the money if you're planning to upgrade from an existing AM3/AM3+ CPU. You're much better off getting a cheap AM4 board, and whatever your budget can afford for a ryzen cpu

WD-40 isn't a a grease. It stands for Water Displacement - 40(th formula). You can put some WD-40 to see if the squeaks go away, but it would be temporary, and I would expect the squeaking to come back. Try it with some WD-40. If the squeaking comes back, get some real grease.

The enthoo evolv has a nice internal design, and the removable front panel is neat. There are some creative drive mounting spaces of you don't like the drive sleds they use, but not many, so extra 3.5" drives might be unsightly, so I'd rather go for the Lian Like PC-011

You're right. They are really expensive. and tbh I don't think that motherboard will work, looking at the IO, it looks like it would only fit inside the case it was designed for. I couldn't find anything either except a China ITX board ? https://www.ebay.com/itm/X79-LGA-2011-E5-4-Channels-Desktop-Computer-Mainboard-Gaming-Motherboard/202651329784?hash=item2f2ef5e4f8:g:TcoAAOSwZ~dcrzLn

2666 MHz typically doesn't cost much more if it even costs more at all.

No worries. Yeah it does suck, but monitors don't last forever.. unless you open them up and re-solder/replace parts. Big hassle.

Wufflez got a reaction from Ronath in 24" Screen, is a curve a good idea?
I have a 24" curved monitor. I have it next to another 24" non-curved that I used previously as my main. I thought that the curve wouldn't matter or may be intrusive, but I actually like it. You don't notice it, but if you've used a monitor before where the corners feel too far away. The curve fixes that and makes everything easily view-able. For $150 that's a great deal.
