Decided to upgrade from i5-4570 to i5-9400f.
When putting the system together, forgot to plug in the 8pin cpu power. Motherboard and gpu lights came on and cpu fan starts spinning but obviously, it doesn't boot.
After mini-panicking, found 8pin unplugged. So I turn off psu, unplugged and went to plug in the 8pin.
However, it stopped working once 8pin cpu power got plugged in. Felt like it tripped something and the psu just powered off when I pressed the power button.
Thought it might be cpu fault since motherboard lights was there, got a replacement and still same problem.
Is this a psu or a motherboard problem? Or something else?
Please help.
