    Help!

    Monprice ships internationally. http://www.monoprice.com/search/index?keyword=displayport+to+vga+active
  2. I wouldn't worry about whether the TV is smart or not. I ran into the same problem as you a few months ago and just got a smart one anyway. I never use any of the smart functions - I've never even connected it to the internet. I just have it connected to my computer and, for all intents, I just use it as a monitor. The smart functionality doesn't do any harm, you can just pretend it's not even there.
  3. Be careful buying SD cards on Amazon. Make SURE you are buying directly from Sandisk, Lexar, Kingston, etc... Check who it says for "fulfilled by ...". There are plenty of fakes on there, so if it seems to good to be true if very well might be. Also, to answer your original question, I think Samsung's the best.
  4. What you are referring to with the scroll wheel is called Hyper-Fast Scrolling by Logitech. I don't believe any other company has mice that include that feature. The mice that others have recommended are fine by me, but if you wanna take a look at more options then search Hyper-Fast on Google.
  5. SLI is such a pain and needs software support in addition to hardware, so the price/performance needs to be much MUCH lower than a single GPU solution for it to be worth it at all in my opinion.
  6. What is the workload you're optimizing this system for? And when you say an octa-core cpu, do you mean a true octa-core or a hyperthreaded quad core? For a gaming setup, fewer more powerful cores are much better so a single cpu is a much better idea, but for video editing, more cores makes a difference. If you're doing any gaming at all, go for a quad core desktop cpu.
  7. I'm really interested in a cost breakdown of this project - I mean the cost of everything. The contractors, electronics and other parts, the cost of fixing the hole, the amount of total time spent working on the project, etc... If anyone from LMG is reading this, that would be super sweet if I could take a look at that. Or even a ballpark estimate of the total cost would be awesome.
  8. Running a GTX 770 at the moment. Could use an upgrade. If I can get a free card then I'll use it, but otherwise I'll probably go for the green team.
  9. Hey guys! So I lent a spare gaming rig to my friend this past winter and it's been working fine for him up until a few weeks ago when he upgraded to Windows 10. No, this doesn't have to do with Windows 10 (or at least I don't THINK so). After reinstalling (yes reinstalling, NOT downgrading) Windows 7, two problems occured. Windows update wouldn't work correctly, and graphics drivers wouldn't install. The computer has a Radeon HD 7870 and is recognized in device manager as a default VGA graphics adapter, which to my knowledge is normal considering the proper drivers aren't installed. And the AMD driver tool recognizes it as a 7800 series card. However, it won't install the drivers. It gives some sort of error - I don't remember what it was, but I'm headed to his house soon so if it is needed then I can get it. Anyways, we tried a Windows 7 installation disk that he had as well as a bootable usb drive I made a long time ago and both had the same problem. Could it be the graphics card, or worse, the motherboard? Anyhow, any suggestions are much appreciated, thanks!
  10. Okay, @SeanAngelo, @Clonzoo and @ShadowCaptain I guess I'm not going for Bose then. Those Oppo PM3's look pretty sweet, I'll see if I can fit that into my budget. If not, I'll probably go for those Beyerdynamics. Thanks guys!
  11. Hey guys, so I'm not that big on high level consumer audio equipment but I'd like to get a nice set of headphones, preferably one that is easy to take with me when traveling and what-not. I've been looking around, and I've found two particular headphones that stuck out to me: Audio-Technica M50x Bose QuietComfort 35 Wireless I've tested out Bose noise-cancellation before and I am very interested in having a pair with that feature included, and the wireless version has great reviews on Amazon and has a wired mode as well. But of course, the Audio-Technica's are a third of the price and still sound really nice (my friend has a pair that I've tried). I'd like an Audiophile's opinion. Are Bose really worth the expensive price tag? Are there even better headphones that I have yet to come across? I'd like something under $300 if possible, but something wireless like the Bose listed above I'd be willing to pay a bit extra for. Anyways, thanks!
  12. ...I'm sure that's the answer he was looking for...

    My Internet

Based on the context of the post I'm assuming that you are using the router given to you by your internet service provider. If that is true, then that's why your internet sucks. The ones given out by these companies are just plain garbage. You can buy a half-way descent wireless router for around $50 and a high end one for around $200. I recommend ASUS. I have the RT-N56U, which at the time I bought it was a very nice router, but has since become somewhat lower tier. But I live in a three story house and I have it on the top floor in the corner of the floor and I can get a connection all the way in the basement in the opposite corner with speeds of about 16 mbps (or 2 MBps) while speeds right next to it can get up to around 60-70 mbps (or around 8 MBps). Although if you're looking for something that's easier to use, then get the Google OnHub.
  14. It depends on several variables such as what games you run and at what resolution, but if you're looking for a short answer, then yes it can.
