  1. UPDATE! Stuff has arrived! Early! I got the HDD, the Wifi card and the Case so far. Tonight (6ish) I will get my other package from Newegg with a TON of more stuff, but for now: Sorry about the phone pics. I'll break out my DSLR for the Mobo/other and Final Pics. You'll prob. see those later tonight!
  2. Sounds great! I hope everything goes well with your new GPU!
  3. Thanks guys! The MSI card was a lot more than the Gigabyte ($36 more), so It wasn't really worth it considering my budget.
  4. Cool, thanks! I always forget too, maybe you should suggest it so them here. I have a fast SSD as a boot drive, so that's taken care of.
  5. I would like to see some third-party root-only apps make use of the "edge." Cool idea.
  6. @coolyr you should follow your own topics. 1. SLI, in case you have two GPUs. It goes on tabs covered by red-plastic things on your 970. 2. Your case, if you want. That's what it's meant for. 3. Yeah it's good. I would buy 2-3 120/140 fans (nocuta) for the front if you can afford it, they are superior to the 200mm (or 180mm) in there now. 4. Great in the back, good in the front. The SATA thing is fine. 5. Awesome build overall. If your temps are not satisfactory, try swapping the cooler-master fan out for this. Question for you: How's the WD blue drive? I recently purchased one for my build and I was wondering.
  7. To be perfectly honest, I can't afford it. $1135 was a bit of a stretch for me. Maybe an older Xeon, yeah, but I wanted something that would last me a while. Edit: The majority of the parts are red-themed, hence the name and it is relatively small, mATX, so it is "Little"
  8. The Little Red Rendering Hood 6 Cores of Weird @Rumikarimu a banner would be sick yo. I filled out your form. *Disclaimer* The use of "The Creator," "He," or other similar terms, has nothing to do with God(s), they refer to me, the creator of this build. Just didn't want to offend anybody. Also my grammar is sub-par for a native English-Speaker. Enjoy. The Story: One day in the deep, dark forest of PCPartpicker, emerged a two builds named "4690k/770" and "4790k/750ti." They were placed there by the creator, nicon. He had the intention of creating a rendering machine for under $1050. Nicon loved to use the Adobe Suite everyday to create awesome content, for multiple reasons. He was torn between the two builds, because they both had their benefits. Alas, there was an evil being in the forest named "Lack of Money (LOM)" (aka. The Fox). LOM was causing Him to not be able to afford the builds. Nicon was mad. Suddenly, nicon came across more money, banishing LOM from the forest. The creator wondered what he could do with the extra money, and suddenly he knew. One word, "X99." Poof! Into the forest of PCPartpicker emerged a young build named the "Little Red Rendering Hood" The End. OK, enough with the crappy attempt to make a computer-themed fan-fic of the Little Red Riding Hood, a story which the last time I read it, I was still in 2nd grade. Anyways, I think you get the point. Here is the part list (THX to @AliveGhost13 for help) and a small rationale for each part: Intel Core i7-5820K 3.3GHz 6-Core Processor: Murders the 4790k in anything multithreaded (rendering). I'm not going for 3-4 way SLI, so 5930k is pointless for me. Noctua NH-U14s: It's like a mini D15. It's quiet and it kicks ass. In some cases (no pun intended), it beats the D15 performance-wise. ASRock Fatal1ty X99M Killer Micro ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard: Gets good reviews, mATX, $40 rebate yo. It's also called the Fatality Killer, so +50 points. A-Data XPG Z1 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR4-2800 Memory: Cheapest 16gb kit that matched my build colors. Also looks badass, like a bloody (actual blood, not the British expression) pyramid. 2800mhz isn't exactly slow either. A-Data Premier Pro SP900 64GB 2.5" Solid State Drive: 64gb is all you need for OS (Win 10), and essential applications. Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive: Reliable, good. I once a one dropped on on the ground from shoulder level (~5.5 foot) and it still works like a charm. I also put most of my media on external drives, don't ask. Gigabyte GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB WINDFORCE Video Card: I'm not gaming. Even if I was the 750ti is a strong performer. A 750ti is all I need to accelerate rendering/previews. Yes, a Quadro M6000 will render faster, but it will not scale with it's price difference. The 750ti reaches a sweet-spot in rendering performance/value. Blue PCB sukkks, might put some white/red acrylic over it as a pseudo-backplate. Thermaltake Core V21 MicroATX Mini Tower Case: Good, relatively large mATX case. Easy to work in, has room for the cooler, and a basement for the PSU+cables. Also great airflow/customizability. Raidmax 530W Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply: Gets good reviews, will work up to a 970 (if I upgrade) Gigabyte GC-WB867D-I 802.11a/b/g/n/ac PCI-Express x1 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth Adapter: I'm in a room with no wired connection. Fast, good, cheap and comes with bluetooth. (Future Upgrade) Noctua NF-A14 industrialPPC-2000 PWM 140mm Fan (x3) + Noctua Red rubber-corner things: Good, quiet, matches build. (Future Upgrade) A white and red (maybe red diagonal stripes on white background) acrylic backplate for the 750ti: Blue PCBs suck. Total: ~$1135 w/rebates, promos Everything has been ordered from SuperBiiz, Newegg, and Amazon. Amazon Prime stuff will come on Friday (12th). Other stuff is expected from Monday-Wednesday (15th-17th) next week. Hope you guys like it, nicon Table of Contents: Update 1: Package Delivery 1 (Amazon and 1/2 Newegg) - 6/12/15 Update 2: Package Delivery 2 (1/2 Newegg) - 6/13/15 Package Delivery 3 (Superbiiz) - ? P.S. The funny thing is, red is one of my least favorite colors.
  9. Going for an oc and 212 Evo can't deal with the oc.
  10. RENDERING. Gpu's dont help that much. (Unless for previews, the 750ti is plenty, a 960 would be better though)
  11. Hi guys, I'm building a new build for workstation use. I've narrowed by build choice down to these. Keep in mind that this is for RENDERING and WORKSTATION use, not gaming. I already know what I kinda want, and I posted a thread this morning asking for suggestions. 16. True, but beQuiet is hard to find in the 'states.
  17. Hi guys, I've built many computers for other people, but never one for myself. Today, I am going to replace my 2011 MacBook Pro with something more substantial. Budget: $1000 with rebates I'm in the US Aim: 99.9% workstation use - Web browsing - Writing school papers - Rendering and creating stuff in Premeire Pro CC 2014 (mostly using this), After Effects CC 2014, Cinema 4D and Photoshop CC 2014. - Cinema 4D R16 - Maybe like a tiny bit of gaming (web games, indie games @1080p). A good GAMING gpu is not a must. Other random stuff: I'll be running 1 1080p 60hz monitor for now, maybe I'll add 1 more. I already have Keyboard, Mouse and Monitor I would like it to be a mATX build / case. Simple colors, black/white. Window is must. I like quiet. Noctua cooler is a must (or another cooler w/ Noctua fan). I've kinda narrowed it down to i5 or Xeon e3 (low end) w/ higher end GPU; or a i7 or Xeon e3 (high end) with a lower end gpu (750ti). I was wondering if GPU acceleration / rendering is worth it with Premiere, AE and C4D. Is 16gb ram needed too? If we are going with "i5" or "i7" cpus, then I would like overclocking. If we go with Xeon e3, then no (obviously). I would like it to be in mATX as I said before. I had my eyes set on a Air 240, or a Node 804. How is the Define Mini? Quiet(ness) would be nice! Thanks so much, nicon
  18. /jk I have a Nikon 28-80 f3.3-5.6 G and it freakin' sick (at least on an F5)
  19. 8/10 Amazing shot, the bokeh seems like it's almost 'pulled' into the center of the frame, weird. But great shot overall. Canon 50D + 300mm f2.8L
  20. A red ring around the front. -canon fanboy
  21. I agree. A7S w EF Adaptor 24-70 f2.8 II. Great start. A condenser like the AT2035 is great.
  22. @DimasRMDO @LoneRangerS I use it as sort of a desktop replacement, plugged into my monitor, kb, and mouse. It is upsidedown (intake on top) with the rear cover removed. (Fan is exposed) I clean the (tiny) heatsink regularly with a blower can thing.
  23. I'm not posting this for help, but just cause it was interesting. (MBP Late 2011) This is what I have done to it - New Thermal Paste - Took rear cover off - Start a light render in Premeiere:
  24. Droid Turbo running Nova Prime (Sorry about the res.):
  25. A little late, but it is a spectacular lens. On the 550D if will be a 38-168 FYI. It's a little slow (f4) but if you're in daylight, it'll be fine. @SparkySamZa
