Actually it doesn't looks like it's a terribly difficult project to pull off: cpu and gpu blocks from EK, 200mm rad and a small pump/reservoir, 3d printed case with a funnel shape and another funnel shape on top, that's about it.

Sadly it's not a Quantum computer.

Ok so PC World got their hands on a Project quantum and tore it apart.

    Looking inside it is cool.

AMD went custom with parts of this build, like the reservoir, AMD 3D printed it and some of the tubing.

Looking at the back of Quantum it has what you would need.

Now looking at the guts of it.

Not surprising AMD went with INTEL for the CPU, I believe that they understand that their current line of CPUs probably can't handle the power a fury x outputs.

AMD went full mod on the Motherboard here.

I would love to see this in the market a small, quiet, water cooled, powerful living room unit.

For me? Warcraft 2 had so so many damn good songs! You could even pop the CD into a CD player and listen to the whole soundtrack which was awesome... BUT, I think my favorite video game song is still Command & Conquer Red Alert's Hell March.
That would be my RTS pick... for FPS? Probably Unreal Tournament '99 GOTY Soundtrack - Organic... that or Go Down... tough choice!

    Heyyo,
You can't in that sense. The only way you could attempt something like that is to first backup your data to another HDD and delete extra data to match the size of the SSD, then clone your HDD to the SSD and then put your data back on your HDD...
Ultimately? Your best bet is to just reinstall your OS from scratch on the SSD. It'll ensure too that you get proper performance. It's the safest and cleanest bet.

    Heyyo,
I mainly wanna discuss what @Senzelian wrote as I do like his answers but wanted to say a few things on them.

It should be noted with the GTX 980 there is a driver bug due to MSAA. Of course, NVIDIA blamed the game devs and the game devs say it's NVIDIA's fault. Lots of that going around, blaming others these days... AMD blames people, NVIDIA blames people... blame blame blame... it's getting fucking lame lol. You can Google it and see for yourself.
So for DirectX 12 benchmarks? I'd still hold off... Ashes of Singularity is a pre-beta benchmark... this was just the first true taste as the leaked/hacked Unreal Engine 4.9 DirectX 12 Elemental Demo isn't optimized properly... My GTX 680 SLI benchmarks in DirectX 11 were fine even with single-GPU mode... but DirectX 12 is single-GPU only and was scoring about 15% slower than DirectX 11.

Too true. It sucks that some games tend to prefer one GPU make over the other, but luckily for 2015? That trend is only in a handful of games where-as most others scale very nicely.

Exactly. I wouldn't worry about costs differences to run unless it was a dedicated server running 24/7 and planned on running it for a decade. JayzTwoCents on YouTube even did a thing about it for AMD Vs Intel CPUs... four hours a day, every day for a year worked out to about $9 but that $9 fluctuates depending on your provider's cost of kW/h... so at most if it was double his cost? $18 a year?

The R9 390 is a very decently overclocked card on a refreshed Hawaii GPU. The cooling provided on the MSI DirectCU II is really damn good so I wouldn't worry so much about thermals as long as your case has great ventilation and airflow. I used to own two stock-cooler EVGA GTX 480's in SLI.... THAT... was some serious heat hahaha... so I wouldn't even worry about it on the AMD R9 390 unless you wanted to do Crossfire. Even then? A little thermal throttling is all that might happen if it's a crazy-hot summer day.

With all that in mind? I do agree for non-reference coolers? The AMD R9 390 is a better purchase, especially if you plan on doing a Multi-GPU upgrade in the future. 4GB of VRAM is a very healthy place to be on 2560x1440 and all that extra VRAM on the AMD R9 390 will help it out.
From what I've seen and read so far for DirectX 12? That whole VRAM stacking will depend on developers implementing it, same with Split-Frame Rendering... so... that could suck if you buy a game and find out it only does Alternate-Frame Rendering with no stacking VRAM. An SLI GTX 970 setup could feel the pain of that 3.5GB threshold before a potential performance drop. I say that's not worth the risk since both cards perform about the same and cost about the same.

I ALWAYS play with Vsync. have for years and years.

My eyes are super sensitive to visual artefacts, so screen tearing ..it makes my eyes bleed. .seriously I cant stand it.

Stuttering though, that is tolerable. Specially if u know how to limit it. So long as u have strong CPU and keep ur average GPU usage around 70%, u have enough horse power in reserve to deal with the odd frame that may require more grunt, thus stuttering is reduced.
Of course some games u just cant do anything with due to poor optimisation ..but u get my point I hope

Don't get me wrong I love how much smoother and more responsive a game can feel when It can reach 100+ FPS, its night and day, but the screen tearing is diabolical. I'd rather ave capped 60 FPS with the odd stutter.

And for games with a sub 60 fps cap .I mod it and un cap it. DS1 I unaped and I just dealt with the gameplay glitches caused by it.. like I never slid down a ladder, because if u did u could sometimes fall through the world due to borked collision detection at 60 FPS.

EDIT: iv had games where VSync is set to 'on' but its not actually working. Try setting it in NCP )if Nvidia), or CCC (if ur amd) game profile.

ThE_MarD reacted to Majestic in Dark Souls Tearing... at 30fps?
That's not how graphics cards work m8. Screen tearing can only occur if your graphics card buffer is refreshing faster than the monitor is scanning.
Lower fps than the scanfrequency can only result in "double scanning" or perceived shuttering. It cannot result in tearing since tearing is an update of the memorybuffer during a scancycle.

TLDR i know what tearing is, it's not supposed to happen below 60 fps. Besides, Vsync was on.

@The_mard the OP says i've installed dsfix. But enabling vsync and tinkering with the monitor refresh does not solve the issue.

    Thanks for pointing it out.
    And nice rhyme btw....

There are some really great cooling solutions for the R9 390 which makes them run even cooler than a 970.
But at the end the temperature of the core doesn't really matter. All that matters is how much heat will leave the case and enter the room.
If I start folding it's like I would turn on my heater. But I also use two 980s

1: It seems to be true. Ryan from PCPerspective did some benchmarks in Ashes of the Singularity (DX12 game) with the GTX 980 and the R9 390X on DX12 with different CPUs.
One thing we saw was, that there was quite a large gap between those two cards in DX11. The GTX 980 was mostly faster.
With DX12 the gap suddenly closed and the R9 390X was pretty much on par with the 980.
But those results were also very dependend on the CPU. On high end CPUs, aswell as low end CPUs it didn't make as much of a difference.
2: No. That doesn't make it future proof. Even in upcoming games the amount of VRAM won't be the bottleneck. That is simply because games are not only optimized for different APIs and drivers, but also optimized for different graphics cards. Also depending on your graphics card it will simply not load all the available textures in your VRAM. That doesn't mean you'll have a lower framerate, but it does mean that your image quality decreases.
    3. It is obvious that the R9 390 will simply need more watts than a GTX 970. How much? Probably 60, 70, or 80 watts. That might cost you a few cents more per year.
    4. Yes, the R9 390 will get hotter than a 970 - again simply because of its higher TDP. That doesn't mean that the core will run hotter, but there will be more heat leaving your case and heat up your room. The difference is pretty small tho. I wouldn't worry about that at all.
    5. Those games are NOT for free. You'll have to pay more for these games. I got a free game with my first GTX 980. But since the promotion started the prices also went up. It might look like you get a 50$ game for free, but it is only a small amount you actually safe. Maybe 5-10$.
So overall, what does that mean?
Personally I would take a R9 390. Those cards are great and if the performance increases as much as we have seen in Ashes of the Singularity with DX12, then it is totally worth it!

We all know that NVIDIA is protecting their investments with G-Sync, but I still say at least for this they could have licensed it out like Intel did anyways... it's just that NVIDIA shouldn't follow suit with Intel try to use bribery to limit AMD GPU stock lol.

We hear everyday about someone pirating videos, many people do it, actually we all probably did it at some point. Youtube videos get taken down due to copyright (talking about dumb cases like the recent Pixels case), people get sued, movie, game and music studios are like wild dogs when it comes to pirating in general, but what we don't hear is when TV networks are sued over the same thing. But why are they being sued, you might ask. There are many cases when TV networks just use Youtube videos without asking the person that owns the video, so this time one person decided to act.

His name is Alfonzo Cutaia and he uploaded this video of a winter storm on Youtube. Since the video went viral, he decided to monetize it under a "Standard YouTube License". That allows Youtube to broadcast the video on Youtube, but you have all the copyrights.

I like this and I'm sure many will. Since "normal people" are getting sued over many things, and sometimes end up being abused by corporations in general, it's good to see someone taking the game back to them. I hope more people do this, just to show them they don't own everything.

    21% says FreeSync was better.
19% says they were the same.

I don't think the results here matters that much though, since variable refresh rate seems to be a few years away from becoming common, and by then we probably have far better monitors on the market with variable refresh rate (at least on the AMD side). Hopefully by then both of then we will have monitors capable of variable refresh rate on both AMD and Nvidia hardware. Right now the situation is pretty crap for consumers when you have to pick side.

Nothing prevents you from buying such chips, so of course you managed that. Intel defines their products and markets, so they decide. The 5820K is a Haswell running at lower speeds than a 4790k for instance, making the 5820K worse for gaming. The 5960x so many people love, is actually a bad gaming chip, as it runs about 800 MHz slower per core than the 4790K. The double amounts of cores are not utilized by any games (yet. Maybe DX12/Vulkan will change that).
