  1. I'm using the Dell XPS 15 9550 to render using premiere pro. It has the i7-6700HQ processor and a GTX 960M graphics card with 8GB of ram. Premiere pro was using the integrated graphics by default according to the NVIDIA graphics program even when I chose CUDA video rendering in the project settings. So I changed it to use the GTX 960M but there was no increase in render time at all. At the moment I'm trying to render a 2000 mb video file, and premiere predicts it will take around 20 minutes when I start the export but this will quickly jump all the way up to 45 minutes. Even when I close all programs, the CPU usage hovers around 90% at 2.5 - 2.6 GHz (it never reaches 3.5 GHz which is the highest frequency it can goto according to intel's CPU webpage) and will occasionally drop to 45% and crawl back up in the middle of a render session. I can't tell if the GPU is even being used as it is not shown in the task manager. What could be the possible causes of this? I'm choosing "Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration - CUDA" in the Video rendering and playback section of the project settings, and I have the preferred graphics processor for Adobe premiere pro set to High-performance NVIDIA processor in the NVIDIA control panel under the "Manage 3d settings" tab.
  2. When plugging in headphones the speakers and headphones do not play any sound however when I run the dell test I can hear sound. In order to get headphones to work I have to restart my laptop. Is there a known fix for this yet or do I have to keep using the inbuilt speakers?
  3. hey guys so now my surface pro 3 is getting old and I want a new PC. but I dont want another surface because of the small screen. I now use xbox one game streaming and its impossible to game effectively on a 12'' screen. However I also need to do video editing and visual studio. So whats a good laptop under £1000 thats 15.6''
  4. out of these two suggested which will be more appropriate? http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/kPLcLk http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/MsC823
  5. I have the keyboard mouse and a tv which I can use as a monitor for the time being
  6. I didn't make this someone did it for me after I told them what I needed. currently my render PC is a surface pro 3 which is really bad for it and I don't have much of a budget my highest possible is £500, but to do that I would have to sacrifice getting an xbox one when halo 5 comes out
  7. Is this a good PC build for those things? http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/XnyKD3 I need it to be good at video rendering and editing because I do youtube and also good at visual studio because I'm doing a software enginerring degree in September 2016 and I need practice, plus I already do software projects. I also would like a 1440p monitor with it but I don't know any good ones.

  10. Linus, when you reviewed the Surface Pro 3 was the first time I watched your videos. I ended up buying one and I love it, I can even use it for the games I play. Your techquickie videos are fun and informative and helped me learn a lot. Congratulations for your 1 million subscribers achievement
  11. Hello guys, I am new to the forum. I first watched linus tech tips when he reviewed the Surface Pro 3 (which I now have btw) and since then I have learned loads from the techquickie videos and have had fun watching a lot of videos on the main channel. A little about me: I am a 16 year old from the UK who is currently studying A-levels in maths, further maths, physics and ICT. I've been developing web applications with HTML and PHP since I was 11, about the same time when the channel was created. I am too small for my age (lol)
