dfsdfgfkjsefoiqzemnd got a reaction from Polished_Rocks in How do I control the 3-pin fan speed?
4-pin fans get 12V all the time and use a signal to determine how long the motors turn on and off.
3-pin fans get a variable voltage (between 5V and 12V) to control the fan speed.

If your motherboard's BIOS is set up for PWM fan control, it will be sending that pulse to the 4th pin instead of lowering the voltage.  The 3-pin fans will basically get the full voltage all the time.
So make sure the fan settings in your BIOS are set for voltage control rather than PWM.

So if a device has a problem which can easily be fixed, you'd rather have people buy a new one instead because that's better for the companies?

That's only going to encourage said companies to make products that fail faster.  We're already seeing that trend with a certain company that equips its phones with batteries that degrade quickly and then "fixes" this problem in software by reducing the devices' performance once the battery hits a certain age, making the owners think that they should upgrade to the newer, faster model even though there's nothing really wrong with their 18 month old phone.

Also, taking away people's ability to repair electronics is going to increase the amount of e-waste, which is already problematic at the rate we're currently throwing perfectly fixable stuff away.
This may not be near you and hence may not be polluting the water you drink, but that doesn't make it any less of a problem on a global scale.  Repairing stuff rather than replacing it WILL help reduce the amount of e-waste the west dumps in poorer regions.

Spend the extra $20 on the DRP4.  If you try to cheap out and get the DRP3, you'll need to hire a team of engineers to mount it.  That's going to cost you more than $20.
When they're done, they'll need therapy and their families may sue you for all costs related to their extended stay in the psychiatric ward.  So if you get the DRP3, make sure that your insurance policy covers those cases or you'll be out of even more money.

Actually mounting the DRP3 is not that difficult.  Just don't follow the instructions.
The instructions will tell you to put a screw in through the back of the motherboard, then a nut on that screw to hold it in place.  Then they tell you to put the cooler on there and then tighten another nut that threads onto the first one.  That means faffing around underneath the cooler with a tiny wrench that doesn't grip the nut properly.

I tightened all nuts to the cooler's base first, then put the cooler on the CPU and screwed the whole thing on from the back of the motherboard.  So much more convenient ... assuming you have a helper or have the MoBo out of the case.

Not just Star Wars.  Thor comes to mind, as does Captain Marvell (both on screen and in Brie Larson's anti-men comments).  And don't get me started on the new Terminator movie or I'll go on a 10.000+ word off-topic rant.
Disney can't even come up with good franchises or characters, they have to either directly replace the male characters with females or kill them off first only to have the franchise suddenly revolve around some Mary Sue character.

But as Sauron showed, if you have the audacity to point that out you're a reactionary.  Well fuck that, I'll happily be one then.  Didn't stop me from enjoying Alita recently, a film with a female lead played by a Hispanic actress.  The difference is that it didn't try to push this "feminism yay! Men bad!" agenda down people's throat like Disney's garbage does.

I don't think Mark Hamill said anything about the woke agenda, but Star Wars definitely have it.
You have to be more blind than the Daredevil to have missed how much Disney is trying to position Star Wars as some "female empowerment"" brand.

It's extremely obvious not just from watching the movies, but Kathleen Kennedy has even worn a shirt that says "The Force is Female".

And before someone says "that was just a Nike campaign", it's pretty obvious that Kathleen wore the shirt because it also applies to Star Wars. It's not a coincidence that the president of Lucasfilm wears a shirt that says "the force" on it.

And no, before it gets brought up, people don't dislike Star Wars now because "people hate female characters". People have had no problem with good female characters in movies before. Leia, Sarah Connor, Hermione, Ripley, Katniss Everdeen, "The Bride", Mia Wallace, Princess Fiona, Eowyn (not a protagonist but has a major role and story, and even hypes up the whole "women > men" part) and even new movies like Wonder Woman and Alita have been hits.
Solo got bad reception too, despite being about a white male.
People like good characters and movies, and people dislike shitty characters and shitty movies, regardless of gender. It's as simple as that.

    Why?

Disney ruined a perfectly good franchise (and not just this one) to push their woke agenda.  Even Mark Hamill himself repeatedly slammed Disney for what they did to Star Wars.
People who like that shitshow don't need respect, they need help.

And seeing as I don't have a Google or YT account, I'm not bound to that ToS either.

You can disable it on Firefox too if you want.  Go to about:config , scroll down to javascript.options.wasm.  If it says "true" in the right-hand column, right-click it and select Toggle.  Once it says "false", you're all set.

I verified this by trying the Funky Karts demo, which uses WebAssembly.  As soon as I toggle that option it stops working.
