  1. The only time I am bothered by switching between KB and mouse is on spreadsheets, and then I'm only switching to the numerical pad, the one bit the KeyMouse doesn't have.

Being an azerty user, the numbers on top aren't that much good as replacements for the num pad either because we need to use the shift key to get those.

I could always get a Logitech N305 num pad, but then I'd have to take my hand off the KeyMouse anyway.

  2. I used VLC for a while, but ran into some problems with audio on a few of my Blu-Ray rips (all legitimate, no need for accusations).  99+% of my rips were perfect, but some didn't have sound despite using the same settings throughout.

Apparently some videos have aac formats that just don't want to work with VLC.

Switched to Jetaudio with K-lite codec pack and haven't looked back.  The popup ads in the free version may be annoying, but it just works perfectly every time and has all the functionality I need.

  3. I could not care less on if or if not it is ethical, I am just concerned with what effect it could have on my PC, Microsoft doesn't need my $100, they've got enough money as it is.

Some kid somewhere in a 3rd world country is probably starving because of you.  Less money for Microsoft = less money for Bill Gates = less money going to charity.

  4. The fact that it was external before has nothing to do with your problem. An external enclosure is little more than a means to connect a regular 3.5" HDD to a USB port.

I'd look at the possibility of bad cables (SATA cable most likely if it happens mostly while transferring data) or a bad SATA port or controller (like the famous Sandy Bridge controller issue on the early P67 motherboards, which caused similar symptoms).

  5. worst thing is, this means there is nearly no contoller that will work. damn, really should have done better research in the first place

The NZXT Sentry LXE lets the fans run at full speed whenever you boot the PC.  After a few seconds it gradually lowers the RPM to whatever the user set it to.

  6. I run a pair of 770s in SLI on a 3.8 GHZ i5-2500 and am not experiencing any CPU bottleneck.  your i7 may be a bit older, but it should still be able to feed those cards just fine.  It should in fact walk all over my i5.

BF3 and 4 support SLI, so that shouldn't be a problem.  Does the framerate drop occur when there are a lot of players around you?  If it has anything to do with players, it's probably CPU-related indeed. If not, it could be either GPU-related or the data may have a hard time getting loaded in time.  Are you using a HDD or an SSD ?

As @Menzenski pointed out, the RAM might be a bit of a problem.  If you're running 4+4+2, take out the 2GB stick and see if it runs better with just 8GB.

  7. Take it easy, ladies.  If you want to get into a catfight, do it via PM.

Back on topic : Distilled water isn't conductive.  You may be better off using that.  Get a large syringe and force the water into the phone via the 3.5mm jack or the micro-USB port.

Once you feel that the inside is clean enough , go through the usual "rice + slight heat" routine.  Make sure the phone doesn't get too hot though, as the battery will suffer from temps above 50°C.

  8. It is that cheap because there is one serious flaw with it that "no one" knew about and there is such a market flood that it needs to be "thinned". The flaw was that if you have data that is not used frequently the speed of reads of that data was significantly slower than advertised speeds. Samsung has since put out a firmware fix for it and all seems to be well for those that have installed the new firmware.

    This, basically.

Because of the issue mentioned above, it got quite a bad rep.  Shame really, because it is a really good drive.  On the other hand, it means those who realize that this "flaw" is really a non-issue can get one cheaper.

I currently have 3 840 EVOs.  A 120GB mSATA, a 240GB and a 1TB one.  All had the new firmware and are performing just fine.  Thinking of getting a couple more 840 EVOs while I can get them cheap.  I need to replace a couple of old small OCZs anyway.
