How Do You Like to Dress?

Does that outfit include a pearl necklace and cheap sunglasses?
  2. Denmark has 2 types of wall plugs, so you may want to hold off on buying new power cables until you have chosen a house and know what outlets it has. Type E https://www.iec.ch/worldplugs/typeE.htm Type K https://www.iec.ch/worldplugs/typeK.htm Type E cables will fit in a type K wall outlet, but you won't have ground. A type K cable will not fit in a type E outlet because the latter has no opening for the ground plug. You could of course also switch the outlets over to the type you prefer.

    Assange arrested

Looks like Equador withdrew Julian Assange's asylum and allowed the London police to enter the embassy to arrest him. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/wikileaks-founder-julian-assange-arrested-police-london-n991236 Curious to see how this ends up going. Sweden already dropped the charges, but the UK still wanted him for skipping bail. The US still wants him to hang as well. I'm guessing he'll be extradited to the US, where he'll get 30+ years but a presidential pardon at some point in the next 10 years. I'm well aware that this is bordering on not being tech news. However there have been Assange-related topics in the past. UPDATE : London Metropolitan Police confirm that he has been arrested at the request of the U.S., with the intention to be extradited. So this arrest is indeed directly related to the Wikileaks leaks.

The west did help though. And they kept helping by moving people off their land to redraw the map of the region. Sure, the region is always at war. Then again so are certain regions in Africa. But nobody cares about those because there's no oil there.

Are you fucking serious right now? I'm giving you direct cause for the rise of the Taliban and you start to go back 40 years and several jumps all the way to the Saur Revolution whilst claiming that I am the one who's tracing everything almost back to Adam and Eve? Arab spring didn't destabilize the middle east, it was already completely unstable as a result of decades of western meddling with their affairs and governments. ISIS grew as a direct result of the 2nd Gulf war, which was started by the US under false pretenses (unless you happen to have proof that Saddam did indeed have weapons of mass destruction?). They then joined Al-Qaida, who as we discussed earlier are also a direct result of the US not minding their own business. As for bringing in the Nazi discussion: history is always written by those who win the war, and they always make themselves look like the good guys while depicting the losers as the bad guys. The US' track record over the last 75 years makes it clear that they're at least as bad.

    The hottest one. Duh

How do you represent Three (3) with your fingers?

Two fingers and the thumb. Makes it easier to count down. Next step is to fold the thumb, then the index finger.

Notre Dame cathedral burning up, spire collapses due to fire

Indeed. Firefighters are trying to get as much of the artwork out as they can while trying to keep it under control, but the loss will be huge. A very sad day ...

Close ... but no cigar ISIS was no threat whatsoever until the 2003 invasion if Iraq. After that war they swore loyalty to Bin Laden. Remember him? He's the guy from Al-Qaida, the guys originally trained and funded by the CIA to fight the Soviets. That's when sh*t started to hit the fan. The Arab Spring started in late 2010. By that time ISIS were quite big already. They basically took over from Al-Qaida in late 2007 - early 2008. As for the Taliban, you're close but not quite close enough. They were helped by Pakistan, who at that point were pretty pissed about US embargoes against them because of their nuclear program. (the US didn't have a problem with India having one, probably due to economic reasons).

And whose fault is that? Who has been meddling in the entire middle east, creating power vacuums that are perfect for such organizations?

At least they can still sleep, unlike the hundreds of thousands of civilians killed in the wars that the US started.
  12. F If it' won't go into recovery even while charging, it sure sounds like it's just dead. Take it apart, test the battery, then sell the screen, frame and perhaps the battery on Ebay.

    Assange arrested

Wait ... what? He leaked all kinds of info on several governments, not just the US. The fact of the matter is that the US simply has more to hide and hence has a lot more info to leak. Stop thinking that the US are the good guys, they're far from it. Good guys don't support dictators, don't fund and train terrorist organizations, don't sell arms to human rights abusers, don't drone strike their own citizens without trial or even an attempt to apprehend them, don't knowingly kill journalists, don't upset the entire middle east by overthrowing regimes they don't agree with under the guise of "bringing democracy", don't start wars under false pretenses, don't have overseas prisons where people can be indefinitely detained and tortured without trial, etc etc
  14. Android's market share is larger than Windows' Maybe I'm living inside a filter bubble, but the percentage of people that I see switching over from Windows to Linux far exceeds the percentage/increase of Linux users I see in any marketshare graph. So I wouldn't be surprised if the vast majority of this "unknown" is indeed Linux.

    Show off your latest purchase!

The size of phones is getting ridiculous. Just bought a black S9+ and the box is almost as big as my keyboard. The 256GB version apparently only comes in Deluxe Edition here, which includes a wireless convertible fast charger and AKG N60 headphones. That's 300+ EUR in accessories, but I have no use for either the headphones or the charger so I'll probably end up selling them. Any EU-based takers? Now I just have to make sure that everything about the phone works just fine (mics, speakers, sensors etc). By tonight it'll be running Lineage OS.
  16. No way you're going to push that thing with a single 2080Ti. Looks like SLI will make a comeback.
  17. Except that the car would most likely still start and drive normally, you'd simply be less protected in case of an accident. This is more like "we fixed an issue with the airbag, but because of your Pioneer system the car now won't start" ----- I'm a bit torn on this one. Normally I'd refer to Torvalds' first rule of kernel maintenance ("you do not break userspace"), but with AV companies not following Microsoft's guidelines I'm giving MS a pass on this one. Besides, 3rd party antivirus is one big scam anyway and does little more than to ADD extra vulnerabilities for attackers to exploit.

Dirty PSU cable. Dirt or corrosion?

As the others mentioned, some alcohol will make quick work of that. If you've got an old toothbrush laying around, that would make it easier to get between and inside the individual contacts.

    Windows 10 vulnerability?

Ah, ok. Yeah, then it's worded VERY poorly indeed.

    Windows 10 vulnerability?

Every month they patch dozens of serious vulnerabilities. So that's nothing special. Also : As long as you don't invite the hacker into your house and have remote access disabled, I wouldn't worry too much.

Galaxy A80 revealed - up, down, round and around

Just looked up the S10+ for reference. The 128GB model is $999 in the US ... and 999€ here. So EUR to USD is actually pretty much 1/1

Ideal fan configuration for Meshify C

You want positive pressure, not negative. Negative draws dust in from all nooks and crannies, positive blows it away. My default setup for a Define C or Meshify C is dual 140mm intakes in the front, a good 120mm exhaust at the back. Even with your hardware that should suffice to keep the temps at acceptable levels. If it's really necessary you can add a fan in the top, near the rear of the case. However I haven't needed to do that yet. Then again the most I've crammed into my Define C was an overclocked 5930K and dual 1070s. Money seems to be no object, so I'm going straight to some of the best: 2x Noctua Chromax NF-A14 PWM (https://noctua.at/en/nf-a14-pwm-chromax-black-swap) 1x Noctua Chromax NF-S12A PWM (https://noctua.at/en/nf-s12a-pwm-chromax-black-swap) The Meshify C has fairly flexible mounting options. For the front I'd suggest putting both fans in the lowest possible position above the PSU shroud. That will put the upper fan more in line with the CPU cooler and allow the bottom fan to blow all its air to the area below the GPU, maximizing that one's potential to draw in cool air. For the rear I'm using the lowest position too on my own Define C, simply because that also lined up more with my CPU cooler.

    Assange arrested

The indictment shows that the arrest is directly related to Wikileaks. There's tons of Wikileaks-related topics (including Manning's conviction for the same crimes) in the tech news section. Are you going to move this one back or are you going to move all the others to off-topic as well?

Personally I'd go with the Crucial. No particular reason, I simply have more faith in their reliability.
