  1. It's always the ass holes who want small government isn't it? "Obama care is big government messing with people'still personal choices! Now hand me 20 bucks so you can watch porn you sex trafficking child molester!". Part of me would like for them to create a register of people who unlocked the porn so we can see all these legislator's names plastered all over it. As for porn being too accessible, well, educate the children in sex Ed and teach them that porn is not a relationship replacement. But of course teaching kid's sex Ed is probably evil in those old fart's eyes.
  2. That is exactly why cards are not selling well. I thought about getting a 1080 but I couldn't justify forking out 800 euros for a marginal improvement over my 980 ti. Reselling my 980 ti would've net me about 350 euros at the time. That would mean 550 euros for a marginal improvement. I have a friend that has a 970 and plays athe 1080p. He feels like he needs nothing else. It certainly doesn't justify the price. Value. That is why NVidia is selling less than they intended. They are lacking value.
  3. This seems like a cheaper surface. If I was considering to buyou surface I would definitely consider this.
  4. You are absolutely right. but it's cost and bureaucracy. I used my 980 ti at ESA for computing tasks for a couple of days because a new computer takes forever to be cleared. Back in Portugal, my 980 ti had more power than my uni's "supercomputer" that thing was built in the 90s and they couldn'the replace it easily due to the high costs. I am sure this will be a huge boon for them.
  5. I am going to go out on a limb and say that main distributing companies like Ubisoft are the lead cause of diminishing downloads. Piracy does fuck all compared to when a company releases a game broken af like Batman or The Division.
  6. Is it just me that thinks the penalty is out? how about treating cheats like real sports treat sopping? 43k and possible jail time seems harsh for basically cheating. it would be like sending the entire Russian Athletics team to jail. Just ban the Dorchester that arevent cheating from competitions and keep banning their acounts in game. Anything else is completely disproportionate.
  7. Game runs fine at 4k for me. and mind you, they use a "test" version of the cry engine. Not the full one. imho they should port the entire game to a proper engine like frostbyte or unreal 4. Game is OK but lack of vehicles or other elements take the game down together with some idiotic design decisions that make the supposed end game (the faction wars) completely useless and unplayable to me. corridor shooter maps are a dumb idea and why not use domination there I have no clue. Still, I have played over 400 hours and I have fun. I am currently on a hiatus (command modern air and naval operations ftw) but I will be back son enough.
  8. and training, and an airforce, and cruise missiles and a bunch of other stuff the professional military has that normal people don't. But sure, an AR 15 is going to kick down that government even though they can kill them from 20 Km high using a drone firing hellfire missiles. Why do these topics always reach a point where a gun nut will come and talk on how the people in Europe cannot fight their government because of the lack of guns? it is tiring really.
  9. What a lot of people fail to realise as well is that we are creating these tools that can get misused by a policeman checking on his ex or by future government body that wants to install a dictatorship. Problem with this information is that once it is out there, it is out there. there is no going back from it. How long till a less than scrupulous government (let's say le pen in france) stats using these tools to prevent opposition members to gain political traction by exposing everything about them? You are giving away to those in power a very effective mean for them to keep their power.
  10. I built a perpetual motion machine once. But I made the mistake of putting it down during the night and I never saw it again... Seriously though, those magnet driven machines are not perpetual movement. They are interesting but as others have said, they generate heat therefore there are energy losses.
  11. EA acting decent, Trump is president... the world is about to end...
  12. That is actually a good point. Maybe they will outsell previous generations I was doing the maths considering the introduction of the PS4 pro as anot her console but it is not. the standard ps4 is going to continue to be sold. And the Xbox 1 S which has even tempted me due to the cheap 4k bluray reader. So let's see. However, the PC market continues to grow fast and since PCs are in a good spot right now (it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to outperform a PS4 or an xbone) and sony released the ps4 pro to prevent more people to join the PC gaming community which means they are getting worried about it. We will see. I will leave you with this so you don'the think I am unfair. I also have issues against Origin and windows' store because of EA's and microsoft anti consumer tactics and general pricing.
  13. Helmets are a must have IMHO. I can tell you about the time where I had a nasty crash on my mountain bike and a metal spike from my pedals lodged itself in my helmet or that falling at 50 kph on a road bike an helmet can mean the difference between becoming a vegetable or not. Regarding paper, it is extremely tough. The Chinese even user paper armour that was very good against arrows and puncturing blows. It the paper is oiled it should hold in the rain which btw, is perfectly fine to ride in. I don'the know where you live but here in the UK if you don'the ride in the rain, you don'the ride at all.
  14. Yes, I read this interview back in 2015... And I am not running in circles. I am merely arguing that consoles are disappearing and the game debate was a tangent. I already admitted I was wrong. I don'the know how that is "embarrassing myself" I find your general tone and aggressiveness over this issue more embarrassing. I also find embarrassing that you keep hitting that one point instead of my broader claim that consoles are disappearing. I posted plenty of links and data on my previous post that you fail to address. so, let me state again my argument: Lower console sales and an increase in the pc market size means that consoles will not be around for long. I might be wrong but a loss of sales in the order of 40 million for ps4 and 70 million for xbone compared to the previous generation is huge. It means that newer titles that are not released for previous gen consoles are missing a huge chunk of market. The PS4 pro is one of sony's answers to fight this. If they thought everything was fine, they wouldn't have bothered. https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=/amp/www.polygon.com/platform/amp/2016/9/9/12867004/ps4-pro-vs-pc-xbox-one-project-scorpio&ved=0ahUKEwiIiNLa4q_QAhUsIsAKHe1xAL4QFggaMAA&usg=AFQjCNEuysJkJduMCI5k1Et0Dy5zGHKtUQ&sig2=R5JAP9jZ1lO10C5eSGfkgQ Here is a link from Sony's boss saying just that. Enjoy.
  15. Yeah... I am doing this on mule phone so posting links is a bother. Here's the interview: http://www.dsogaming.com/news/cd-projekt-reds-marcin-iwinski-most-of-the-witcher-sales-are-for-the-pc/ It's from a YouTube interview close to the launch of Witcher 3. The numbers from statistit brain (cool site btw) raised are different from the the ones I read which were close to the release (12 million total) and not agglomeration numbers so I was wrong with regards to Skyrim. Here's another interesting website with a curious methodology. Mind you they only keep track of physical copies so a mix between this and steamspy should provide interesting results: http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=skyrim&publisher=&platform=&genre=&minSales=0&results=200 ------- Regarding market share, lower number of units sold is a smaller market. Sure people still game on he 360 and PS3 (heck, I still takeen my PS2 out of the cupboard and plug it it now and again for nostalgia's sake) That doesn't mean that they vaporized but it means new releases will Ave a smaller audience than the previous generation. Now I know correlation is not causation but add to that the growth of the PC market space (and only based on steam data and not on other platforms like GoG, Origin and battlenet) and the picture for consoles starts to become not so bright. Consoles outsell pc for now in the same games but I suppose I could be bothered and track a game series over a period of releases and compare the numbers through steamspy and vgchartz and see the market fluctuations... Skyrim http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=skyrim&publisher=&platform=&genre=&minSales=0&results=200 http://steamspy.com/search.php?s=Skyrim Oblivion http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=Oblivion&publisher=&platform=&genre=&minSales=0&results=200 http://steamspy.com/search.php?s=Oblivion ----------- So oblivion (2006) sold 7.4 million on consoles and 1.6 on steam on PC (disregarding physical copies not Steam distributed) which is about 17% of sales whereas skyrim (2013) sold 15.18 million copies on consoles and the most conservative estimate pointed to 5.4 million on Steam so even that is 27%. if we go by Steamspy'says number as a maximum estimate then that number changes to 42%. Of course two points don'the male for a linear regression so we can add fallout 3 (2008) which sold 8.87 million on consoles and 2.32 on pc to get a market share of around 21% and then fallout 4 (2015) which sold 11.12 on consoles and 3.71 on pc which gives us 25%. So now we can get somewhat of a trend. Of course older games tend to sell more on pc due to Steam sales and humble bundles but it is what it is. For fallout 3 I only considered goty edition users. And a final note, of course more games have to be used covering different genres but because we had talked about skyrim I made these with Bethesda titles. Final disclaimer 2: if you want to play on consoles, that is fine by me. I am merely arguing that they are a dying breed. Which makes sense if you consider our society is moving towards system that integrate more and more functions together and consoles are very limited in what they can offer compared to a PC not to mention that laptops with gaming grade cards are getting cheaper and cheaper and for many young people, a laptop will be a necessity and a console a luxury so if they have to choose one laptop will win.
  16. The Witcher 3 was released in 2015 concurrently. I got the info it outsold consoles from an interview with one of the creators. If Steamspy says different then feel free to disregard the Witcher 3 as an example. Mind you that gog sales are not counted but it seems a bit of a stretch To account for several million copies more even considering that the game sold more on gog than on steam (according to first figures from gamerant). Also, after reading some more about that interview, there is confusion if he was talking about the global market or the Polish market in particular. The 12 million copies on PC of skyrim I got from steamspy. Since there was a free weekend sometime ago, I looked up the special edition (that was free for all who had Skyrim and dlc) and that one has over 5.5 million copies. With the 2.92 million physical copies the game sold for PC close to launch (first month or so) we reach over 8 million copies for PC. Still higher than any console and a conservative estimate. I don't want to beat on a dead horse but my point was more towards the disappearance of consoles being inevitable so more and more PC gamers appear. I have nothing against consoles except for the fact that they are anti-consumer consumer. -------- As for the console being cheaper, I disagree. You don't need a super expensive computer to match the PS4 level of graphical fidelity and it certainly can get expensive to own a console. From the Internet annuity to the price of games or extra controllers those costs do add up. I'll give you my personal example. I bought a PS2 and was happy with it. then I was at uni and needed a laptop for my studies. when the PS3 came out I thought about buying one but then my old laptop broke down. Frankly it was no choice. I bought a new laptop and didn't get the PS3. Consoles are not cheaper than PCs in all settings is what I am trying to tell you. And if you want to get the latest console, even if you already own a PS4 is going to cost you an extra 400 dollars to get the pro. If I want to spend 400 dollars every three years I will treat myself to a new GPU. That said, If you are happy with your PS4, more power to you but I am not here trying to convert people or saying PC is the superior platform though for me it objectively is. All I said is that since the PS2 consoles have been losing market space. Which is incorrect btw since the ps2 had basically a monopoly and if you combine PS3 and Xbox 360 sales they have even more sales (roughly 164 million to 155 million). However that makes the jump to this generation even more steep as the total sales of PS4 and XBONE are just shy of 60 million. That is 100 million less console gamers in 6 years. Why don't we add Nintendo to the mix? After all, the original wii outsold both PS3 and Xbox360 selling over 100 million units. How much did the wiiU sell? 13 million units. An 87% drop in sales. Yes, the future bodes well for consoles indeed...
  17. On the contray dear wattson, my opinions are based on facts. Growth rates, sales of over one billion games on Steam alone, the fact that consoles market space has been shrinking since the days of the ps2... The fact that in pure revenue pc gaming overtakes both consoles combined (to put bread on the table as you oh so eloquently put)... You want a more fact based opinion? Pull the other one. As I said, I am not arguing about which is better an I have nothing against consoles other hand the fact they are anti-consumer. I am arguing that it is a matter of time until consoles disappear due to a shrinking player Base and lower overall income. BTW, Dota 2 (free game) made over 200 million dollars in 2015 alone. Game that outsold consoles? Well, The witcher 3 launched with as strong PC sales as each individual console and nowadays has outsold both. Skyrim is another title that on the long run outsold both consoles by a wide margin. Why do you think even Sony allowed for *gasp* mods in their version? Out of the kindness of their hearts? The Base game sold 7.7 million copies on ps3 as soon as they heard the rumour of people not buying this version due to lack of mod support, they immediately came back. Also, free game on PC. Yay! Let me approach it from yet another angle; why did Sony release the ps4 pro. Who is their market? What is their objectives? How much do you think they are going to sell? Anyway, I need to get to work. cya
  18. That is because the air inside the house is more humid and because your glasses are colder, the water from the air accumulates there. Cold air stores less humidity.
  19. I use isopropyl alcohol. But literally use whatever suits you. yup can eBay your i5 and try and get some money back.
  20. I have to agree with you. Fallout's 4 was a major disappointment for me... Never even finished. Never got sucked in like other Bethesda titles managed to do.
  21. The i7 is the best CPU you can get for your mobo. the 1060 vs 1070 depends. If you are dead set on VR either should be fine with the 1070 allowing you to get more pixel density on the visor ad more goodies. But both will work. If you play simulators like il2 or Assetto corsa, the Vive will pull it's weight. At this moment, it's the only games I can think of that would make me pull the trigger on VR. For a gpu, you can always try to look for clearance 980 ti, 980 or a 290/390x or a fury. they give you roughly the same performance as the 1070 or the 1060 and can be had for cheaper. They tend to performed worse in VR due to missing features that the 10 series has. oh, if you are interested in team red, the xfx 480 is a beast and will give you all you need at 1080p. It is about the same performance as the 1060 and depending where you are, you can get it cheaper or more expensive.
  22. It did but thone are relatively small in scope games. The NFS world is not totally destructible and very simple (unlike fallout's or Skyrim's) and Fifa is limited to a single stadium. I mean, it would be awesome if they managed it but I wouldn't get my hopes up. They do need a new engine for the next instalments. Something that looks ime the Witcher 3 but has gamepad mechanics more akin to Jedi knight: Jedi Academy. especially in terms of combat. It haseems been more than a decade since that game came out and I have yet to play a game with such engaging melee combat mechanics.
  23. I understand it well enough. What I was trying to point out is that Intel outsold PS4 and xbone lifelong numbers in one quarter of one year. but yes, if you are talking about SKUs I will grant you that point. As to your second part, I don't think you understand markets very well. More users does translate into a larger potencial market and it does translate into sales as there are more than a billion paid games on Steam accounts (taking into account multiple instances of the same game across multiple users) and that is not total revenue as imicrotransactions are not included. I don'the know what other metrics you want me to use but I just thought of something funny. There is a difference of about 40 million units bought from the PS3 to the PS4 and about 70 million fromantic xbox360 to xbone. that is 110 million users total The PS4 and xbone were released in 2013. Steam users in October 2013 were around 65 million. to today's over 190 million that is anincrease of 125 million. How many of those are previous console players is the interesting question.
