  1. its not that its booting up too fast, its when im pushing delete to enter the bios, the motherboard debug led stays on A9 and the screen remains black
  2. Saw that there was a new bios update and thought what the hell might as well update it, was running F11 and used q-flash in the bios to update to F21 but everytime I try to get back into the bios the code stays on A9 which is bios set up is started, the screen is black and after awhile nothing happens, stupid me also decided to update the backup bios at the same time and can't even use that to do anything, same thing happens, I can still boot into Windows just fine but need to get into bios to fix the fan curves and disable a few things, any tips here on how to save the motherboard would be awesome hoping I didn't brick it so far ive unplugged the sata drives and left the nvme in, still cant get into the bios, worked out how the qflash+ works and tried that but got stuck on AE which is boot to legacy OS, got around that but telling the mobo where the OS is, still no further ahead on getting into the BIOS to change anything PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 3.8 GHz 12-Core Processor $670.87 @ Amazon Australia Motherboard Gigabyte X570 AORUS MASTER ATX AM4 Motherboard $558.10 @ Amazon Australia Memory Gigabyte AORUS RGB 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory $189.00 @ PCCaseGear Storage Samsung 840 EVO 250 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Storage Samsung 250 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Storage Samsung 970 Evo Plus 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive $149.00 @ Centre Com Storage Seagate Barracuda 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive $212.30 @ Newegg Australia Video Card Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6 GB Video Card Case Lian Li O11D XL-X ATX Full Tower Case $319.00 @ Newegg Australia Power Supply SeaSonic FOCUS Plus Platinum 850 W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply Operating System Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit $179.30 @ Newegg Australia Monitor BenQ XL2420TE 24.0" 1920x1080 144 Hz Monitor Monitor BenQ XL2420G 24.0" 1920x1080 144 Hz Monitor Keyboard Corsair K70 RGB MK.2 Wired Gaming Keyboard $228.00 @ Austin Computers Mouse Logitech G Pro Wired Optical Mouse Headphones Kingston HyperX Cloud II 7.1 Channel Headset $179.00 @ Centre Com Speakers Logitech Z150 0 nW 2.0 Channel Speakers Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total $2684.57 Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-08-18 23:39 AEST+1000 EDIT: what i mean is when the computer is turning on i usually push delete till the bios comes up but the screen remains black and the debug LED says A9 and i gotta turn the PC off with the psu Edit 2: OK some progress, it seems the flashing of the older F11 bios worked and I'm back in the bios, for some reason the pc was always booting into the backup F21 bios, used the bios switches to turn off dual bios mode and only use 1, now to save the backup bios?
  3. what programs could i use for finding out specs of the computer? never used linux before
  4. Got a few old PC's that I wanna see if they work and see what the specs are but haven't got a spare sata drive to use, how do I make a bootable usb to use to check these things? Thanks in advance
  5. had made a post in a facebook group and they suggested to turn it off at the wall when shutting down, leave it off for 30 seconds then trying again and that worked, upon turning the computer back on i was able to safely shut down and power off the computer completely, now to figure out why the issue happened in the first place, thinking maybe excess charge built up and caused it to reboot so grounding problem maybe?
  6. computer does not want to turn off I click on shut down it does the animations and turns off but within a second later it turns back on like a fresh reboot, any idea on what to do here? Google isn't helping as I've got fast boot turned off in Windows, bios and made sure in regedit, uninstalled programs I had recently installed, went into network settings to turn off allow device to wake the computer, went into the recovery menu to try and shut it down that way and didn't work also tried putting in the windows install usb to get it to shut down before windows loaded in but that didn't even work, I haven't changed any settings anywhere before it started happening, besides pushing the power button to turn it off(if that would even work) what can I do?
  7. while looking been half tempted to get another m.2 drive not a nvme though since it will be just for games then probably could put one of the SSDs into the old PC for whatever reason and put the other into the parents laptop to speed it up, still not sure on what to do about mass storage get another 2tb drive (seems to be cheaper then 4tb by a long shot) or maybe even get a nas but no idea where to start on that front though
  8. hi all, after some advice and on brands and models, want to change the 2 SSDs in my current system to a bigger sata SSD about 1tb but not sure on what brand to use, is samsung still the way to go? how are their QVO drives? or what about the western digital blue drive? another question, want to add a 4tb drive to the system for more storage and to make an image of the system for a backup and again not sure on what brand to use here, would it be fine to use the seagate ironwolf pro for this? or something else? thanks in advance!
  9. any ideas here? ive reinstalled the chipset drivers and power plans from amd and its still happening, wonder if intel has this same thing happening
  10. think ive worked out whats causing the cpu to ramp up its speed when idling/watching youtube, i think the power plan from amd might be bugged or a setting it in the power plan is doing it, ive put the pc on windows power saver and the cpu has down clocked to 2.2ghz (can sleep without the noise while it downloads games) may have to see if i can reinstall the power plans from amd and hope that might fix the problem, just dont see any reason why it should be ramping up over 4ghz while im sitting watching youtube, if anyone else here has tips or advice on this youre more then welcome to let me know, still getting used to this hardware change from the ol 4670k on z87
  11. might have to get a aio for the cpu then or see if i can get an am4 bracket for the old corsair h100i in my old case and use it till i get around to getting a new gpu and watercooling everything
  12. what are the chances theres a faulty sensor in the cpu or motherboard? cause with hwmonitor and other temp monitoring programs and its only showing 1 temp rather a temp for each core and i think it might be getting confused or theres 2 sensors conflicting
  13. always seems to stay over 50c sadly, just doesnt want to stay at its base clock
  14. still seems to be going over its base clock sadly making the fan jump around
  15. am thinking getting an AIO as ive got the right fans for it but was hoping not to spend too much till i upgrade the gpu and save up some more and go full watercooling
  16. Bios is updated, chipset is updated and got it on amd Ryzen balanced power plan thinking that would help but it didn't, the gigabyte software is their fan tuning software
  17. where abouts can i find that option in ryzen master? am new to amd cpus
  18. In the bios there's chipset sata hit plug, if I disable that will it work? It's gigabytes bios
  19. using the stock cooler for the 3900x temporarily till decide to either use an air cooler or get an AIO for it, is there anyway for me to get the cpu to run at its base frequency instead of boosting up over 4GHz? the boost is nice when gaming but when im just watching youtube its a bit annoying, tried using gigabytes software to lower the speed to heat ratio and it still ramps up often, thanks in advance!
  20. unsure on how to word this but ill try, recently built a new pc and using the old storage drives from my old PC and got them installed in the new case (Lian-Li PC o11-XL) and the storage bays are labeled as hotswappable, so my drives are listed twice in the file explorer and in the taskbar theres a safely remove device option for the 3 drives, is there a way to change this so i dont accidentally remove a drive and to remove the drives from file explorer? will include screen shots to help
  21. Does anyone know if there's any programs out there that can control rgb software together? Recently built a new pc and can only control the ram, mobo, case and the led fan on the amd wraith prism cooler, it seems like I have to use a usb header to be able to fully control the rgb on the cooler which is another program on top of rgb fusion, icue and lghub, thanks in advance
  22. so after going over the money ive got saved and looking at ebay with a coupon code (thanks friendly person from facebook group) this is the build i can buy today with the 3900x coming from ebay and the rest from pccg, mwave and skycomp, ill upgrade the gpu later on this year to see if nvidia announces the 3000 series and ill end up watercooling the build as well https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/sXHT3t EDIT: will everything here work happy with each other? just making sure before ordering anything as i know theres more knowledgeable people on the forums
  23. after making a similar build for intel, intel is cheaper then amd lol
  24. The items that are listed as purchased is what I've currently got in my system, I'm not buying them
