MayflowerElectronics reacted to mr moose in Microsoft Reveals FLAC Support For Windows 10
the ignorance is way out of hand:

http://www.vox.com/2014/4/19/5626058/vinyls-great-but-its-not-better-than-cds
People who try to measure dynamic range quite often fail to account for spikes and rumble. Some of the DR measured is not in the original master but an artifact of the vinyl medium.
Saying vinyl has a better sound because of artifacts inherent in the playback medium is akin to saying low bitrate mp3 are better because the wishywashy high pitched warble is more present than the original CD.

No use trying to argue. If people think they can hear something that's not there, let them. Just put the information out there and the smart ones will follow.

You should read the links I posted. A good MP3 @ 256K or above is basically indiscernible to the the human ear from a flac,
Any details an MP3 can't capture you also can't hear with human ears.

Exactly. Yes FLAC is better scientifically. Audibly with headphones of any price range? No.
You can show me graphs and science all day. Until you do a blind test with 80% or higher score, it doesn't really matter in real life.
Speakers may be a different story as there are a lot more factors involved then 2 small speakers milmieters away from your ears.

Mmm, no. False analogy. I'd like to see those here who praise FLAC for its real-world qualities pass an ABX test.

I'm going on record and saying Grados suck. Only get them when you're experienced enough to know what you want - never as your first serious headphone.

MayflowerElectronics reacted to ShearMe in Terrible Sennheiser Quality - Time for Beyerdynamic or X ?
If he wasn't satisfied with a Sennheiser headset, he's not going to be satisfied with a Plantronics headset.
I'd guess your ears would find Beyerdynamics pleasing. DT990 if you don't need isolation, DT770 if you do. There's multiple impedance versions, so get whichever you can find cheaper (32, 80, or 250 + the price of an amp).
