  1. Just like the post says, I am having trouble finding this particular style of adapter. My motherboard does not have any PCI-E x8 slots, and I want to buy a RAID card that only fits into a PCI-E x8. I am finding tons of x8 to x16 (male to female, respectively) adapters, but none the "other way around..." I've checked eBay and Amazon.
  2. I solved my own issue! It turns out that Storage Spaces does NOT like it when you have any partitions at all made on a drive you want to add. You can see that the HDD i want to add (DISK 0) has a EFI partition. Interestingly, when I installed windows on my new computer, it installed the OS on my SSD and the EFI on my HDD. What I had to do was reinstall windows with JUST the SSD plugged into the computer so that the BIOS forced the boot partition on the right drive, then plug all the rest of the drives back in. I then deleted the EFI partition from DISK 0, and also the NTFS partition, then Storage Spaces recognized the drive.
  3. Hello! As the title of the post suggests, I am trying to add drives to an existing storage pool, but even though they are formatted and detected in Disk Management, they are not showing up in the storage pool menu as drives to add. Here are my specs: Windows 11 Pro 4 x Seagate EXOS 20 tb (2 of which were part of another storage space on a different computer; successfully detected on this new build) 2x 4 tb NVME SSD; 1x 2tb NVME SSD i9 13900k, 128 gb RAM, R9 7900xtx So here's the weird thing. Since I am migrating a storage space from my old desktop which ran Windows 10 to this new build which is running Windows 11, you'd think that there might be some sort of OS incompatibility, but one of my newly installed Seagate drives was detected and successfully added to the storage pool. I just can't add the fourth one. So, I have concluded that it is not an issue with upgrading from Windows 10 to 11. Also, all the drives are formatted as NTFS and detected in disk manager. I am having trouble detecting two of the drives. I currently have three of the 20 tb drives in a storage pool, but need to get the 4th added so I can have true parity (raid 1). I would also like to get the two 4 tb SSDs in a RAID 0, and one of them is not being detected. See the attached screenshot... You can see that there are drives not being detected by Storage Pools but they show up in Disk Management just fine! I don't know what to do, and I'm afraid I'll have to create spanned volumes in Disk Management instead of going through storage spaces, but I already have 20 tb of data on my storage space, so I'm in too deep.
  4. Thanks for the replies everyone. I guess it's time to invest in a big bag of zipties.
  5. I am building a hardline watercooling build in the parvum s2.0 and I have run across the issue of not having enough room to store all my cables. I have an 80mm radiator in the back with some tubing, and I am using large cable extensions which means I have to shove all the full length psu cables behind the case as well as the extenders. In order to free up some space, I invested in a molex splitter: http://www.performance-pcs.com/top-quality-18awg-molex-to-6-x-molex-cable-splitter.html to power my pump and lighting, but I was wondering if I could also stick some of these: on the splitter to power my GPU (GTX 980). If that doesn't work, I can also plug it into the remaining 3 molex connectors on the psu cable. I was just wondering if this would be theoretically possible because that would save my bacon in terms of cable management. (I do plan to overclock the GPU). (My powersupply is a Corsair RM1000)
  6. I am travelling to Iceland in about 3 weeks and I would like to take some timelapse of the drive. I could set up my iphone in the car and mount it to the dash or just hold it there, but I want something outside the car. I am looking for a camera that's waterproof (it rains and snows a ton in Iceland (especially in April)) and relatively cheap. I was also looking to rent a gopro because I could use that for vlogging as well. I am bringing along my 70D for the northern lights plus a michron by alpine labs to get timelapse of waterfalls and cities (and of course the northern lights). So if anyone knows either a cheap gopro rental place, or a good waterproof camera that I can mount to the side of a car that has OK video quality, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  7. What case would work for the single 120mm cooler? And do you know of a psu that would work?
  8. I'm building a minecraft server with non-server hardware, and I want to put everything in a server case. Do I need a special server power supply or can I throw in a regular modular power supply from Corsair or something Also, what rack mount case do I need to slot this in to some kind of shelf? Do I need special rails or other mounting hardware? I am a super noob when it comes to servers, and I want to get one going with a few chassis (thinking of another gaming server, router, website host, NAS, security, etc.) If anyone can help me that would be great! Thanks!
  9. Hello everyone. I am doing full motherboard water cooling, and I had a waterblock that was going to fit my motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128748, BUT it didn't fit because I guess I ordered the wrong one. It was a mosfet southbridge bundle (the southbridge wasn't a block, just a heatsink), so I ripped off the southbridge including the large heatpipe connecting the southbridge and northbridge/mosfet. I painted the southbridge red accents blue, reapplied thermal paste, and stuck it back on there, with the copper heatpipe ripped off at the edge of the heatsink. I was wondering if this would affect my computer to a significant degree, and if I should be worrying about an overheat or damage to my components. Any suggestions/help would be great! Thanks
  10. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Supermicro-H8QGL-IF-G34-Motherboard-/281911378414?hash=item41a33a41ee:g:-MIAAOSwUV9Wmrun Would this motherboard be a better option? Otherwise with the motherboard mentioned above, if I get that dell power supply could I hook it up to 2 motherboards somehow? Thanks!
  11. Cool, Idk what I would do with it to be honest. Maybe run a couple of gaming servers.
