  1. Hi Guys, I've been looking around on forums and support pages to try and find out info on the NVMe 2.5 inch drives on the X79 Platform with no luck so far as everything I've found has been on the PCIe Variant. Now I known I won't be able to boot on my X79 pro with out modified Bios but what I am curious about is the aspect of using the 2.5 inch Variant of the 750 series on my X79 pro as an additional drive. So what I'm curious about is would I be able to use a combination of the Asus Hyper kit and a M.2 PCIe add-in Card to allow the 2.5 inch to work on my X79 pro. (Now you guys must be thinking well just get the PCIe 750) Problem with this is I've found for the 1.2TB model its cheaper here in the UK for the 2.5 inch Model. Like if I have to I may just pay out the extra for the PCIe card variant. But if its possible to Frankenstein this up as if it is possible its a cheaper solution but certainly not the most elegant. If anyone has tried or had this working I'd love to hear and if anyone knows of any info like this on the 2.5 model please let me know
  2. Just tried my card in my brothers computer on my monitor an its dropped in power usage by half @ 144hz
  3. Right i've come to some what I would say is still odd but if I completely disable the whole point I brought my monitor ie 144hz the usage drops from 40% to 11% at idle. not that 2560 1440 @ 144hz should be a problem for a 980 on 10 when it isnt on windows 7 weird one but some heads up if anyone else finds this
  4. https://gyazo.com/5afd89cf91d7cdc52b60b5a44dc1910c heres a screen snap of my Afterburner readings
  5. Yup but mine is just one tab no streams on LMG an its @ 40% power an 55c an it shouldnt be being bottle necked by anythings my GPU would be the first bottle neck against my 5960x Should be more or less around 10% power at idle on 7 i could have 5 odd tabs an steam running while watching a stream an it would be at 20% at most on power so yeah confused much
  6. Just chrome an steam an i've even tried it with Just windows by its self by closing everything thats not needed
  7. Load temps seem fine as I'm getting around 80 to 81c @ 2560x1440 an 4k load tests / I don't really want to run a clean install as it is a new clean install already. plus I only have 120gb ssd so I can't part it
  8. Hey guys my GTX 980 seems to be idling really hot in comparision to when it was back on Windows 7 I would have an Idle clock speed of around 300ish mhz but now in windows 10 its idling at 911mhz almost full speed without gpu boost. an is running around abouts 40% on power with an idle temp of 55c all these figures had been so much lower in windows 7. At first I was presuming its driver related but few recent driver updates and a fresh install of drivers an theres still no improvement. Any ideas? regards James
  9. So its down to a toss up between the Vive an Consumer Oculus i'm just unsure like you said sounds like you need a minium of a 10x10 room for the vive which for someone like me only going to be using it for sims which of all will be sat down behind a wheel or a yoke sounds a bit off putting but at the same time the screens better an the release date is more around my birthday making it an easier to afford investment
  10. Yeah the problem I have tho is I don't have the room to setup a multimonitor system to use with my T500 as in the end I had to get a stand that folded down as my gaming room in only 8ft by 6ft plus it has a bed an a wardrobe in the room with it so not a whole lot of room which is why i felt VR would be better an I could never get TrackIR to ever work properly
  11. I've tried DK2 in my local store an it was ok but the low res in each eye put me off a bit like Luke said in his review the pixels are still noticeable but from what i here the HTC is 1080x1200 in each eye
  12. Cheers for the info as due to me having a lazy eye my dominiate eye has some 3D but not as strong as a normal person so I only want one to just improve my experenices with simulators due to a lack of room to setup a proper rig with my Hotas an T500 with multi monitors
  13. Hey i've tried the DK2 a store local to me an I have a lazy eye so my strong eye makes up for my weak eye an i managed to use the DK2
  14. Hey guys I was just wondering as I'm stuck on my choise of what to do when the two release im wanting to get the HTC because it releases sooner but I can't find any confirmation on whether il be able to use it on my simulation games like I want to like Project cars Assetto an euro trucks. an my flight sims like FSX an DCS. so if anybody knows whether this all works like it does with the DK2 then id love to know. as from what i've seen its almost like you have to stand up to use the HTC an not be able to be seated aswell. correct me if im wrong on that kind regards James
  15. Fair enough. i'm still planning on waiting now tho since my X79 board wont support it as a boot device. I might look at it when prices drop as storage medium for Games an productivity with Premier an Photoshop not sure yet
