  1. Those are great news, looks like 5000 series cpu it is then. They're much less memory sensitive I guess?
  2. That's the thing the board I have is x370 gaming k5, I'm not certain it supports cpus higher than 3000 series. It was a good and recommended cpu with 8 cores after years and years of 4 core 8 threads from intel. And I had Core2 at that time so I wanted to try something else, it has worked great so far but the time is coming to upgrade it. That's why I considered looking at am5/intel couterpart, but i can also invest in 5600/5700x and additional 16 gigs with a new motherboard.
  3. Budget (including currency): 1000-ish euros, flexible in both directions. Country: EU Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: WoW, TW W2/3, mainly gaming and some light programming and office/general workload. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Only need cpu+mb and ram, maybe psu. My trusty r7 1700 is starting to feel sluggish and I've decided to upgrade in the next 2 months. I know that AMD is going to announce their new x3d models soon, but with how their latest series launched I wanted to check for alternatives and ask few questions. How is DDR 5 price/performance at the moment? I would prefer to upgrade to it but i wonder if the initial issues have been ironed out and if the price is coming down. What would be the alternative from Intel side? Do they still support both ddr4 and 5 or did they move fully to ddr5? I have a 650w corasir rmi psu. WIth current setup (rig in profile with 2 additional hdds) it's working well, but i was wondering if new cpus from amd and intel would fit in or should I plan for a new psu as well. It's about 6 years old now.
  4. Alright, series 7 from Samsung no bueno. What else to avoid? Which other series would you recommends so that I can narrow down the search.
  5. Thanks for sharing! I'm going the opposite route. I now have a 23" screen, but I wanted to get rid of the current desk and turn the room in a multimedia setup with pc/ av receiver and big screen and getting a big tv will save me space ironically. Really? Was this your experience with LG as well? I might be a little biased towards them since I heard they have damn good tvs, but then again I don't need a clasical tv, I barely watch any at all. That's a really neat/affordable model! I don't need GSync/Freesync per se, I want good pic quality, fast response/low lag and 60hz at a minimum. Good HDR and G/FreeSync are a bonus.
  6. That's a great website, thanks! 55-60 is what I would be aiming at, 65 at most. Which price range would you consider for a good tv? The 2000$ LG sure looks nice tho I have no idea how much price affects how well the tv is.
  7. That makes things easier a lot from the planning side. I'd move to about 6-7ft away so I was worried how readable stuff on the screen would be. Which TV do you have? Do you have any advice what to look for and what to avoid? I don't need any "smart" stuff from it, 4k, 60 (or more) refresh rate and if possible decent HDR is what I'd like to find.
  8. I plan to get a new screen in the future and I had a thought to ignore the regular monitor altogether and grab a 60/65 inch 4k tv instead. I was wondering how good would this setup be for gaming/multimedia in general? Do current tvs have good input lag/response itmes for games like Doom? From the productivity standpoint how does Windows behave, are you able to work normally?
  9. Thanks for the input! Where does 2500 fall short for you? I mainly want to be able to set up atmos (on top of 5.1), play losless formats and have 4k vid, would it be good for that? I saw some people recommend to skip to 3500x but the price difference between them is 300 eur in my area (2500 is 500 eur) and idk what it would do better to justify this difference.
  10. Thanks, that makes things a lot simpler for me . Is something like Sony STR-DN1080 or DENON AVR-X2500H an overkill?
  11. I want to create a Home Theater set-up for my mid sized room but I have no idea how to start this off. I got the chance to hear Jamo c93 and I would like to set them as a front pair (I'd add sub, center and rear/side speakers later). They are passive so I have no idea if I need both AMP and AVR or I only need AVR?

    Temporary GPU

Thanks for the advice. In my area new 1050ti cost about 180-200 euros (same goes for second hand 970s), which is a bit pricier, especially for the temporary card.

    Temporary GPU

Thanks for the info, used 1060 would be great if I'm able to find one i'll consider it definitely. How much Vram would be an overkill in this price range?
  14. Hey, It appears that my current GPU will die shortly (artifacts started appearing), and I also planned to get new Nvidia equivalent of 1070-80 this summer/fall so I don't want to get a lot of money right now. I am currently using 1080p so I am looking for something around 150euros that will work well with this resolution, I've noticed 1050 in the price range and used 970 ( pricier and less available) can you let me know if you had any experience with those cards? High settings around 60 fps in older titles (skyrim se with mods/inquisition/overwatch) would be great if possible, thanks for all your suggestions!
  15. Just a quick update regarding this, it does appear that a faulty RAM module is to blame. I have tired to boot with a single stick and have changed all memory slots and one module refused to post the system, it was stuck in an infinite boot loop. With the working module everything appears to be running fine with no issues at all, and even hardware reserved memory is down to 72 MB, which is much more reasonable. What is even stranger is that memory diagnostic tool and mem test showed nothing wrong at all.
