  1. Any more progress? Also can you upload the stl please? I would really like to try this...
  2. You can, you just need a way to record the signal and to transmit it, which you can do with an arduino, rf receiver and rf transmitter. I actually have a similar setup myself which I can use to turn my pc on from my phone, whether I am home or not, or from remote switch that I can put anywhere... I can give you a link but be careful what you get your self into, home automation is addicting ^^ https://timleland.com/wireless-power-outlets/
  3. Can't find the video where he's unboxing the Reds... or the one where he destroys the keyboard... I suppose the one where he comepletely loses his shit and starts screaming in a high pitched voice is not in an acutal video...
  4. About ten times a day, sometimes multiple times an hour, sometimes every few hours, my Internet stops working and when I start Troubleshooting it tells me "The remote device or resource won't accept the connection.", after 1-3 minutes it just starts working again without me doing anything. The only way to force it is to disable whatever network device I am currently using and enable it again. (I sometimes use Wifi and sometimes LAN). Any idea on how to get it solved permanently?
  5. Isn't error correction behaviour not governed by the OS? In case of Seagate both Surveillance and NAS drives have 3 years of warranty, so you still think I should get the pricier NAS version?
  6. Can someone explain to me why the Seagate IronWolf 4TB drive which is sold as a NAS drive has 5900rpm and costs 150€ (where I live at least) and the Seagate Seahawk drive, which is sold as a surveillance drive but has 7200rpm for 140€ and otherwise has the exact same specs (as far as I can see). So I am obiously confused now. Why would I buy the NAS drive if I get a better price/performance ratio with the surveillance drive? There must be a reasonable explanation for this pricing.
  7. Actually, some of the supposedly non-existent pieces do exist. Source: I have them.
  8. I don't think that people who can afford a 3000+€ laptop and a 900€ vive know what craigslist even is. nor do they need to...
  9. I currently plan on buying the ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VIII RANGER for my new system and I am wondering if it is possible to have a GPU using the PCIe 3.0 x16 slot with an electrical x16 connection and have a pcie card with additional SATA ports running in x4 mode, I guess pcie 2.0 speeds would suffice. Would this be possible? As I understand the i7-6700K only has 16 available pcie 3.0 lanes (not counting the 4 lanes that are used for the M.2 slot), but some motherboards advertise being able to have a 3-Way crossfire setup in 8x/8x/4x mode, so I really don't know what to think right now. Don't bother telling me I don't need more than 6 SATA ports, I do. Thanks in advance!
  10. this thing is fantastic. my room is 6x2 meters with a window/door on each of the longer ends, so a normal beamer would be of no use to me, so this thing is perfect for me...
  11. The problem is, I did not find that information anywhere else but from that guy, so I don't know how i could check. I would actuall prefer to have 7, but I can live with 6. expansion card is not an option for various reasons that would take far too long to explain... My SSD, 3 hard drives (I use them simultaneously, having one drive with multiple partitions would be a HUGE bottleneck. Also I already have them, they are fast and 2 of them were actually free, so why waste money?), one DVD R/W drive, and one hotswap cage with a 3.5 and 2.5 inch slot. I fix computers regularly and 90% want their data so this cage has been more useful to me than my network adapter... so this is 7 sata devices actually, but 6 is ok, I'll just leave the 2.5" cage part unplugged and use the 3.5 slot Sorry to disappoint you both, but no raid. I was planning to do RAID0 with the 2 free HDDs but I don't do backups frequently enough. A NAS is not only a speed bottleneck but it would simply cost me more than just buying a board that has 8 sata ports in the first place (so i still have 6 if I lose 2 to M.2). I am on a budget unfortunately... Also I do plan on using the 850 even after buying the 950, taking it out would be a waste
  12. I am looking for a Z170 motherboard that fits my needs for the PC I want to assemble. I had almost decided on the MSI Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon, but then I saw in this video, that when using the M." slot I am unable to use SATA ports 5 and 6, which is a dealbraker, as I plan using all of them. So now I wonder, is that true for ALL Z170 Motherboards? Or is it only this one? Because I need all 6 ports and I plan on buying a 950 Prolater this year for the M.2 slots... Also, can anyone recommend a similar board in the same price range (or lower, not over) that I will get a good OC (6700K) with? I honestly don't really care about LEDs or armored pcie slots, just a quality board that doesn't have a flashy color like the Fatal1ty series. I was originally going for the ASRock Z170 Extreme4 but I have heard a lot of bad things about it so I decided against it. Feel free to forward me to some detailed literature if you are too lazy to explain it all to me
