Regank reacted to MorningStrummer in XB'owner (Water cooled pc inside xbox one)
So, ever since the Xbox one was released, and we knew it's dimensions, I was pretty certain a pc would fit in there.
And so ever since I've been planning out how to optimize a build in there. I've had different idea's on how to make it possible, but yet it never quite fit. Then I finally decided to keep the psu out of the case (just like the xbox has) and work from there. And let me tell you there's a whole lot of room.
So now finally the time has come to actually build the damn thing, and see if my planning is any good.
So here's the component list:
Case: Xbox one (off course)
Mobo: Asus Maximus VII Impact
CPU: Intel Core I5 4690k
Memory: 16Gb Crucial Ballistix DDR3 1600MHz CL9 (Low profile)
GPU: AMD R9 Nano
PSU: SilverStone ST45SF-G (450W sfx, 80 plus gold)
Storage: 750 GB WD Black 2,5" hdd + 250GB Samsung 850 EVO ssd + .........
Cooling: EK-FB ASUS M6I - Nickel, EK-XRES 100 DDC 3.2 PWM Elite, EK-FC R9 Nano - Nickel, EK-CoolStream PE 240, 2x Noctua NF-F12
HAHAHA...., really thought I was gonna give the surprise away???? HELL NO!! this joke makes no sense now, it's all there.
Update #1
Update #2
Update #3
Update #4
Update #5
Update #5,5
Update #6
But first to start off with, the case. We all know how it looks but still I have to make some photo's right??
I got the case from ebay, and apparently the inner metal case was also included, but I won't be needing that. If YOU do, you know where to find me.(Filthy console peasant)
Oh and by the way these feet are really sticky:
So that was the outside, now let's go inside:
And that was it for now. In the next update we're going to rip this thing apart. MUHAHAHAHA (insert devil emoticon) (WHAAAA, it's not here )

Nope, the TX 750 M is only semi modular, I did the sleeving job on these puppies all by myself.
Now, be warned, it is neither the best possible drain system, nor the easiest to use. I didn't have a whole lot of options on where to put it though. Also, please disregard the rat's nest.
gladly, give me a minute to pop the system open and transfer some files.

Regank reacted to WoodenMarker in Air Cooling Questions/Worries
A beefier cooler is far from necessary. It seems like the cooler is not seated properly.
I'd suggest making sure the screws are evenly tightened. Screw them in diagonally and gradually to ensure even pressure on the cpu.

Regank reacted to Conorator999999 in Air Cooling Questions/Worries
Yes I have another fan from the top of my case blowing directly onto the cooler. I just replaced the thermal compound with Arctic Silver 5 compound. I just redid the compound and cleaned the dust off of the cooler just before the temps that are initaly listed were taken and they seemed to have risen. So I don't know...

After the preview you can still use it, but at limited functionality. You will need an office 365 subscription to get all of the new features. But it is free.

That program will run from time to time because it is updating or scanning, if you leave your computer on for like 2 hours alone it should have done its job.

Regank reacted to Majestic in Out of Memory :(
Sounds like a memory leak. I see you have a Realtek NIC, they're reknown for having a few drivers that causes memory leaks. Try updating your Ethernet Drivers to the latest version.

Regank reacted to AMICLG in Best VPN to watch Netflix
This is only if your in a foreign country trying to get US Netflix, do to copyright they'll cancel it. They won't cancel simply do to you using a VPN, so many of their users in the US use VPNs because of Comcast, TWC, and Verizon throttling the living shit out of the connection and they know this. The problem is your trying to view content they don't have permission to show outside the of the US, you can than the MPAA for that.

I will try Vessel for LTT, but so far the quality is not as good (resolution is lower and everything is fuzzy compared to youtube) and with no android support its not of much use to me. Hopefully the situation will improve and the android app will come soon. For now I guess I have no choice but to use youtube (lack of android support).

A guys, I think it is cool that you are upgrading and all that. But I do wish you had waited or gone to a platform that was finished. Tried watching your videos on my android phone and Vessel as no support for mobile web or android...so those of us who watch your videos on our phones at work and screwed for the first few months before they add this feature? It's just a bit annoying....I still love you guys and hope this gets fixed sooner then later.

Tried to browse vessel ... Terrible
I sign on for first time and it won't leet me continiue until I checked some people faces to follow, when I have no idea who anyone is, because you know I'm signing in for the first time. It recommends me some stupid videos. "Thumbnails" are over half of the page with the other half being populated by 2 videos, so I see 3 videos listed at once, 24inch screen and 3 videos links displeyed, great use of space!
Opening videos in a new tap doasn't work with middle mouse button. First page has register form and I need click a link to log in. No video description while browsing, exept a guys face and some stupid title. I'm going to stick to youtube.
Just terrible, why would this benefit you beside the higher income? Aren't there some better sites? You guys are great, but vessel

Regank reacted to Selhati in New Platform Launch Feedback & FAQ
Umh I'm kinda torn on the vessel thing.
First of all I think it's a good idea to spread the video's to both youtube and vessel.
Youtube has been giving me trouble lately. (Slow loading, being stuck at s.ytimg.com loading... (Common youtube this problem started in 2012...) and the layout being messed up).
My first thoughts on Vessel.
Way to much eye-candy... a lot of (useless) animations and fading in.
Lost of wasted space. On the home-screen (vessel) I can see 3 video's (On full screen 1080P in chrome). This same home-screen gives me 24 (!) video's on youtube.
Same when watching the video. almost all the screen is video. (If i want to watch full-screen Ill just do it) its not showing me anything without scrolling.
Also I dislike the quality settings on vessel. 'HD auto or off" is not specific. Just give me options like youtube (480p, 720p, 1080p, 1440p or 2160p). And i'm missing the "pause video using space-bar" and the speed-options to watch the videos at 2x speed (Especially useful when I don't have a lot of time to watch).
I guess we will have to see what vessel is going to transform into over the next year. (Personally i think its just a temporary hype that is going to fade away in a few weeks)
Good move trying it out (But please don't stop using youtube).

Regank got a reaction from Crazy Steve in New Platform Launch Feedback & FAQ
I know that LMG needs more money per view on their videos but Vessel just confuses things a lot They don't even have an android app which I will now have to be on my computer to watch their videos. I will probably just wait until they come out on YouTube because of the ease of use. I love LinusTechTips and will continue to support them in the future but vessel is just not working for me right now
-
Regank reacted to Chardin112 in New Platform Launch Feedback & FAQ
I watched all new videos there and probably will continue as they are newest there. Also found battlefield friends there. But quality is bad and user interface is weird and was difficult to navigate especially because I was not able to scroll with mouse wheel only with middle mouse button universal scroll. I hope that if Linus stays there and This big community migrates there at least partially Vessel will get enough money to improve the platform as for now even Twitch.tv VOD system is better in my opinion. I don not need popular or featured I want latest.
Linus has been always talking how they have tried to get better and improve quality then this move at the moment was not a good one for quality maybe only money wise.
Also Linus has a create community and Vessel wanted us and that might have given Linus better terms in this moment when Vessel is not that popular.
I hope that video and website quality there will improve and next year I might be thinking of paying but definitely not right now.

Regank reacted to Video79459 in New Platform Launch Feedback & FAQ
I don't feel like moving to vessel is a good idea, the reason YouTube is so popular is because its FREE (minus the payment of internet service). Right now there isn't enough content on Vessel to be worth the $2.99 USD. YouTube is easy to use and, going to something like Vessel where you have to pay to use it, it will really discourage people from paying the money and learning to use it.

Regank reacted to soja in New Platform Launch Feedback & FAQ
Like I have seen from others, my only complaint with Vessel so far is the video quality. We already use highly compressed videos everywhere, but vessel's HD "on" toggle brings it up to what, a 2400kbps video? That is less than high quality twitch streams. Bandwidth isn't THAT expensive, and a simple bump up to 3500kbps and offering 720p, 1080p, 1440p, 4k, would be a welcome addition to the platform.
I'm all for supporting LMG through different avenues, and I think vessel is a great way to do so after some changes on their end!

Edit- This is about 494.61 Euros, if you wanted to spend more money you could get some better parts too.

Regank reacted to a_block_of_wood in Can Windows 8 OEM transfer to another computer?
I may be wrong, but if it's OEM Windows 8 (NOT 8.1):
http://www.microsoft.com/oem/en/licensing/sblicensing/Pages/windows-licensing-for-personal-use.aspx
http://personaluselicense.windows.com/en-US/default.aspx
Yes, you can move it into another PC you own, provided you remove it from the old one.
Apparently MS removed the personal use license from 8.1. I've been digging for info for the past few days and this is so far what I understand.
Edit: Retail version should entitled you to move it to new PC.

Regank reacted to CalebTheEternal in Can't decide between 980 and 970
Honestly the 980 isn't THAT much better than the 970, but it's SO much more. The VRAM isn't an issue and I have no idea why people are still talking about this, but I never go over 3gb of VRAM and I play on 5760x1080p and I Do SLI 970. Get SLI 970
-
Regank reacted to Prastupok in Can't decide between 980 and 970
Depends. If you want to blow money, sure, a 980 is nice. I'd recommend a 970 and add another later is great. The scaling works pretty dang well in most games.
