  1. Oh I see, ok that makes sense. ok so if I try disabling the onboard graphics and get no signal, I can reset the bios and then hopefully Ill be able to get in again
  2. Herr, yes I made sure im going into the correct HDMI input, and I know the input works because I can see the signal through that hdmi port when the graphics cards have been taken out. its just when I put them back in I get no signal at all
  3. At the moment im just very relieved that I can actually get a signal and see the screen and actually get to the bios screen. Im afraid of losing that and just getting the dreaded 'no signal' again. At which point I'll have no access to change anything.....
  4. Yeah I tried it with just one card and same issue, no signal. so should I change the bios settings? I really dont know much about computers, this is my first ever build. what should I change in the bios? disable the onboard graphics? What if I then get no signal at all posting? How will I be able to even see the screen to change any bios settings the next time i turn the system on?
  5. Im not actually using multiple displays. I just wanted a powerful rig so that once the consumer version of the oculus rift comes out - I can run games on high settings. It might be a 4k screen.
  6. yes i tried plugging the hdmi cable into the motherboard, the first graphics card and the second graphics card, and no signal at all from any of them when the graphics cards are plugged into the motherboard. when I take both cards out and plug the hdmi into the motherboard, the rig posts a signal. But how can I get these cards working??? Ive got an oculus rift dk2 sitting here that Ive had for over a week, and Im dying to try it but this graphics card no signal issue is holding me up!!!!!
  7. My new build would not post at all. I tried everything over the course of a few days, with help from you guys on here, and eventually I found that it posts when I take both graphics cards out. Ive tried with one card in one slot or the other slot, and every other combination, but the only way the system will post is with both cards out. Here are the components im using - its the linus tech tips ultimate surround gaming build: CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K Unlocked Quad Core Processor with HyperThreading NCIX: http://bit.ly/1n8Hf6r Amazon: http://geni.us/BEB SSD: 1x Intel 730 Series 240GB SSD NCIX: http://bit.ly/1rWMZmM Amazon: http://geni.us/46tO Hard Drive: 1x WD Black 4TB NCIX: http://bit.ly/1oQbDbq Amazon: http://geni.us/Ixm Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth Z97 MK1 NCIX: http://bit.ly/1rlHfYd Amazon: http://geni.us/9FY Case: NZXT H440 "Razer Edition" NCIX: http://bit.ly/1tnUcxe Amazon: http://geni.us/3nM4 Direct Link: http://www.razerzone...ng-systems/h440 Video Card: Dual Gigabyte Radeon R9 290 4GB Windforce Cards in Crossfire NCIX: http://bit.ly/1kTYDQY Amazon: http://geni.us/TKf RAM: 32GB Corsair Dominator Platinum 2133MHz Dual Channel DDR3 NCIX: http://bit.ly/1n8MO51 Amazon: http://geni.us/CZE Power Supply: Corsair AX1200i NCIX: http://bit.ly/1lh4KiJ Amazon: http://geni.us/3oEz Mouse: Razer Deathadder 2013 NCIX: http://bit.ly/VEm0SU Amazon: http://geni.us/13fa CPU Heatsink: Swiftech H220-X NCIX: http://search.ncix.c...iateid=11119738 Amazon: http://geni.us/Z5U Extra Fans: Bitfenix Spectre Pro LED Fans NCIX: http://bit.ly/1o9zTE4 Amazon: http://georiot.co/a9Y so, I figured that once i had windows installed i would download the drivers for the graphics cards (2 x R9 290). but when I try to instal the drivers I get an error because the driver instalation program cannot locate the graphics card (offcourse not because the cards are not plugged into the motherboard). but I cannot plug the cards in first, because then I get no post, no signal to my flatscreen. so how do I get my graphics cards to work? If I turn the onboard graphics off in the bios, and direct it to look for the graphics cards, im afraid ill get no signal and then never be able to view the bios again to change the settings back. After all, the only way I was able to see anything on the screen, was using the onboard graphics...... Please advise on what I need to do to get these two graphics cards working in the system. Thanks!!!
  8. I feel like the next thing to try is to turn off the onboard graphics via the bios, but im afraid that ill get no signal once i do that. then how will I ever be able to turn it back on??? because ill have no signal. ie - the only way im getting any signal via hdmi to the flat screen right now is when i take the graphics cards out and use the onboard graphics.
  9. Thanks for all the responses. So I tried everything, changing out ram etc... None of that worked. Eventually I tried taking the graphics cards out, and it posts a signal just fine. So I was able to boot windows 8 from usb and have the system running, but when I put the graphics card/cards ( I have 2 x R9 290) back in, I get the same issue, no signal, no post. I figured I would try to instal the graphics card drivers from the amd website, but when I try to instal them, the installer cannot locate the cards because they are not plugged into the motherboard, but if I have them plugged into the motherboard then I get no signal. How am I supposed to instal the graphics cards if I cant have them plugged into the motherboard? Please help1 any advice on how I can get these cards to work? The sytem runs fine without the cards, but as soon as I put them in, I get no signal. they definately have power, the fans spin on them etc... Im using a beast of a power supply Ax1200i. Thanks
  10. Can anyone help?? So I ordered all the parts for the ultimate surround gaming build that linus did - including the anti-static build mat, etc... and followed all the instructions with great care and attention, but when I start the computer, which is connected to a flat screen via HDMI, I get no signal???? Have tried changing ram slots, swapped out graphics cards, even tried to run with just one ram stick and one graphics card etc etc.... and still nothing. Everything comes on, lights, fans, etc etc, but no signal to the flat screen!!?? I feel I've just thrown away $3,000. what can I do to get this thing working!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
