  1. Reset CMOS. Do this by either shorting the jumper or removing power to the board and removing the battery and waiting a bit.
  2. Just overclocked the balls out of my 660. Plus fanless mode (thanks @vinyldash303)

^precisely. Well i just played around some with it and i made it so that when there is a significant load the fans start kicking but when its light or basically no load at all it stays silent :)

  3. Anyone else? I would like a little more input before I charge people. And thanks so much to everyone that responded.
  4. Thanks so much guys. Also how much should I charge (maybe a percentage or extra flat rate over the price of actual components) for hardware upgrades/fixes?
  5. So i work in a small convenience store during breakfast and lunch at my school. I fixed the owner's computer and stuff a bunch of times (I consider myself a techy and am always fixing friend's computers) so i then asked him if I could hang up a sign that we do computer repair (hardware and software) during lunch (I would do it) and he said sure. So does anyone know around how much I should charge per job? For hardware I would charge the price of the new component (if it requires that) plus some percentage for installation and stuff like that. I just dont know what percentage or how much is okay for software fixit. Can anyone help me out? TL;DR I wanna fix peoples computers - how much to charge? Thanks so much.
  6. Well that definitely would explain why windows won't boot. Make sure everything is grounded. Also to reset the BIOS or CMOS remove power to the MOBO and take out the battery which is a silver disk. Then wait a bit for the capacitors to discharge and pop it back in.
  7. try with ps2 keyboard if ur mobo has. Also try without a storage drive and see if it posts and opens BIOS (and reset BIOS if tht doesnt work)
  8. Ah i think i know your problem. The fx-8350 is supported however I think that is true only on BIOS version 7640vBD or 7640vD and above which is unfortunate for you. Basically the board needs an update. To do that download the top BIOS here http://us.msi.com/support/mb/990FXAGD80V2.html#down-biosand then load it onto a usb and go into your bios and select the update from usb feature. The only problem is that you cant boot because rn your bios and cpu aren't compatible. Unless you have another chip lying around i recommend bringing this to a tech shop thing.
  9. sounds like a drive issue to me. Defrag/ make sure trim is running. What drive did you put in there? Check its smart values and stuff. Also do a antivirus scan and reinstall windows. EDIT: Welll it seems like i got ninja'd
  10. Well for one you could print it and cut it out. You can also get a large sheet of something like a piece of poster board or wrapping paper and cut into them around a circular object of the same shape if you have one. Alternatively you can measure the radius of the circle (or theoretical larger circle that belongs to the curves on the partial ellipses) and affix that to a pencil and the wall and draw pulling all the while on the string. For the full circle that is simple but for the ellipses you will have to find the overlap points and make two separate parts of circles. the image i attached represents this. The circles you should draw for the partial ellipses are the blue ones. Note these are not perfect i did this in about a minute
  11. Have fun. Also for future builds check up ninite. Its downloads one installer that automatically skips all the crapware and bloatware and installs all the stuff you selected. Check it out ninite.com
  12. Hmmmmm. Have you tried looking around in the geforce settings and seeing if maybe you are SSAAing? Or other possible high settings you are unaware of? Also can you please post a gpu and cpu usage and heat output while running the game? Thanks.

I'll explain the whole story at some point, but…

    good job and good luck
  14. So essentially you have two options. Take apart the display like in this instructable: http://www.instructables.com/id/Laptop-Converted-to-2nd-Monitor/or use some sort of software solution although i have no idea what the lag is going to be like. There is freeware for this featured here: http://zoneos.com/zonescreen.htm Have fun! EDIT: I forgot to mention that some laptops actually have a hdmi input port and that will make your life easier.
  15. It would be easier to either make the batch open the vbs or get a third file to open them both.
  16. You need to plug in the usb header to make the usb work. Also for the GPU you click it into the pcie slot (its pcie not pci (pci is an older standard)) and then from your psu you can look on the box or on the PSU yourself and find the pcie power or 16v lane connector which is a row of 3 by 2 (or 4 by 2) and pplug that into the top of the card
