Sharkyx1 got a reaction from GuiltySpark_ in 5950x 16 cores 95% use(high def), Will 32 cores drop use back to the 50% dvds level, TMPGEncVMWorks 7
Would it be more wise to simply use software to lower the CPU usage and slow the process down?
It would be a reasonable expectation that doubling the core count should increase general windows performance, but alternative choices would be a dedicated rendering PC on side from your main PC for user tasks.

Sharkyx1 got a reaction from Bagzie in How does FSR3 work on so many GPUs?
Amd wrote the software as an async compute task, it doesn't have any ai processes involved. It's in short, a system of combining frames, nvidia includes hardware to accelerate the process, AMD on the other hand wrote code, that hypothetically can use some of the rendering time on some of the hardware that's not being utilized to complete the process. There are advantages to both methods.

Sharkyx1 got a reaction from Paul Rudd in Game Requirements / Turbo Boost Technology
The thing is, overclocking will not make the game start
the minimum settings aren't a check in game code, its not as if an i5 3750k underclocked won't start games that ask for a 3.4ghz
the only thing that stops games from starting is hardware incompatibility, like if a game only runs in DX11 and your GPU supports DX9
i could set my 3570 to 1.0ghz and it would still run my games, just not well
The i5 750 to i5 2500k was a massive jump in performance,overclocking won't cover that increase
Ill try to make this a bit simpler
Minimums are very vague, a slower CPU will sometimes work fine: The exact clock speed is not important, your GPU is the problem
Heres a 750 playing the game with a R7 250X (HD 7770)

In base mode half the gpu is disabled and the clock is lowered

Sharkyx1 got a reaction from jaggysnake57 in PS4 Pro uses 2 gpus.....console crossfire....that ok for you!
Quote me on this, it is a single die 8 core CPU 2304 core gpu solution
It will down clock and disable units for old PS4 games
In pro games it runs the entire gpu at 911mhz
Also tying physics / simulation to framerate makes a lot of sense on console only titles, makes debugging easier as the game will always respond the same. And there isn't really a downside
"the new console has a second, identical GPU configured next to the original, with a 14 percent boost in frequency to 911MHz"
read it like
1 The new console has a second identical gpu configuration
2 The new console has a 14% MHz bump to 911
They aren't saying the gpu runs at different speeds

Sharkyx1 got a reaction from Octagoncow in PS VR released for Preorder
So what it actually does, since many seem to be misinformed, is take the head tracking data from between two frames and apply it to the same first frame at 120hz
Like (new frame) 8ms(head tracking applied to the previous frame) 8ms (new frame) repeat
60 game frames per second, but 120 head movement frames per second

Sharkyx1 got a reaction from dalekphalm in PS4 Pro announced along with Slim model
Previously HDR referred to rendering a game in a larger color space and then clamping it on output so if the scene was mainly bright with a few dark spots it raises the black value, if it's mostly a black scene it lowers the bright point.
Modern HDR is an increase in color space on the TV and unclamped color rendering
Will edit with better explanation later

Sharkyx1 got a reaction from ivan134 in Should i switch over to overwatch
Games with limited audience exposure, such as those locked to a single platform will have a harder time on PC regardless of their actual quality, on Xbox One, where the entire userbase has access to the game it had a much stronger run, to say that Titanfall buyers were cod buyers misses the point when people were still playing it well into the release of newer Cod games
Heavy long term marketing keeps League of Legends, and Dota in thier player spheres, and has nothing to do with Quality
Most people who don't like Titanfall never played it, its absolutely one of the best Multiplayer shooters released in this decade
