I have no idea if there's gonna be a P55 v5 anytime soon, but this is slightly over $1,000 USD, and with the extra money get yourself some extra gear.

My friend has one of these and he looks like he hasn't had any trouble with them.

You have no problem with the CPU. The things is if you use GPU acceleration, you might need a Firepro or Quadro card and those things run for over $1k. I mean I guess you can do some registry edits and some hacks, but it wouldn't be reliable.

The Acer G257HU gets a thumbs up for me. 25" is on the smaller size but the colors are vibrant and the matte panel is great. I should also mention that it's a pretty nifty overclocker if you wanted a higher refresh rate.
EDIT: Just noticed the post above be says the same thing, durp.

There might be an application running in the background that is accessing the drive. Check any open programs and task manager to see if there is.

    1. Double BIOS on that card means either it has one BIOS for normal operation and overclocking, and another BIOS for extreme overclocking (usually under LN2). It doesn't have to be extreme. It could be just you wanting a higher clock. Another possibility for a sem one BIOS is a failsafe in case something goes terribly wrong.
    2. The 14+3 Phase power delivery helps in delivering more power to the GPU. It doesn't equate to higher clocks, but it removes and power delivery bottlenecks if your were going for extreme clocks.
    3. This is incorrect. In fact, in most cases having a backplate actually helps temperatures cool a little bit.

This. I can vouch for the performance of the Fury. But if you want Nvidia, like you asked, go for the 980. Don't go for an SLI (or XFire) setup using two mid-end cards. It's best to go with the best card you can fit into your budget since you won't have to worry about microstuttering and the struggle when a game doesn't have a profile. Plus you can get a second one in the future for more perf in needed.

Why such a big power supply for such a small chip w/o GPU? Take that down to 350-400W.

As of the Rx 300 series, there is no reference card besides the Fury X and Nano. There are some Reference PCBs, but pretty much everything is custom. So the answer to that question which you probably know already is nowhere

850W is fine for the SLI. The R5s fans are pretty decent and should last you a good while but definitely consider getting either better fans to replace the existing ones or add more to fans to the front (don't want any top fans since that will require taking out the moduvents which will make things louder.

Remember that "trash" means different things for two different cards. For the 390 1200MHz is a great overclock where 1450MHz is great for the 970. It all depends on how lucky you are with the card, but you should be able to get a decent boost.

Get something in the region of 750W since you would want to overclock the CPU as well, plus some extra headroom

If you don't plan to overclocking (I don't think you are with that PSU), I recommend switching out the 970 for a 390 unless you have a shield or a G-Sync monitor.

Well memory bus size and amount of RAM isn't everything. You also need to take into account the memory bandwidth and frequency. Honestly, to make your choice you have to look at benchmarks on your favorite games and such since factors like those are hardly deal breakers.

Well good luck selling it! Shouldn't be too hard as the 970 is currently the most popular card around.

If you can spare $50, go get a R9 Fury, beats the 980 in the majority of benchmarks and when OCed, also beats most OC 980s.
