  1. thanks for clearing that up for me. as much as i liked the evga x99, it won't work for the cpu i already have. thanks though
  2. Thanks for the explanation. I was looking at a few lga 2011-3 boards but I was afraid my cpu may not be compatible. Does it only work on 59xx processors? Or will the 4930k also work?
  3. is there a difference between lga 2011 and lga 2011-3?
  4. the original plan was to upgrade to the 980's then give my 970 to a friend; but after some thought two 970's does make more sense. thanks for the tip
  5. I already had the 970 from another computer when I didn't have as much of a budget
  6. I'm building my next computer piece by piece as my funds allow and next on my list is the motherboard. I was just looking for some suggestions to go with Intel 4930k cpu. I'll use it mostly for gaming, recording, and video editing. right now I have a gtx 970 that I'll be using until I can upgrade to a 980 and then eventually dual 980's. thanks in advance
  7. so, i think i finally solved the problem. first and foremost, thank you so much for all of your help. to everyone who replied to this post, i thank you from the bottom of my heart. i really do appreciate the time you took to help me fix my computer. everyone was incredibly helpful, more so than i would have ever expected. so what was the issue? ram speeds. the amd a10-7850k only supports ram clocked up to 2133mhz and the ram i installed is clocked at 2400mhz. so, i under-clocked it to 2133 and everything is running amazingly smooth. not a single blue screen or error message for the passed 3 days. at this point, i'm pretty confident that that was the issue and everything is now running smoothly. once again, thank you everyone.
  8. since i've re-installed everything on a new ssd, yes. so far. been then again, that's all i've really done since the re-install.
  9. No beta drivers. All i have installed are all the drivers for my motherboard http://www.msi.com/support/mb/A88XI_AC.html#down-driver&Win8.1 64 the current motherboard bios and the current apu driver. so when you say get a new copy of windows do you mean to purchase and entirely new product key or to just do another install on a different ssd or hdd?
  10. happened while trying to download bf4, downloading any games causes the crash without fail after about 15 minutes or so. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8048022/091514-5609-01.dmp event id - 41 task category - 63 bugcheck code - 126 again
  11. i actually just got done re-installing windows onto a fresh ssd, updating all the drivers, and completing all the windows updates. i just felt like i was going in circles and needed a fresh start (maybe i messed up something in the beginning, missed a driver, or any other number of things). but, i have a feeling that since the computer is brand new and has never functioned properly before, there is probably just one component that is faulty and needs to be replaced. i had three blue screens when i was getting all the drivers taken care of. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8048022/091414-5375-01.dmp https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8048022/091414-7140-01.dmp https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8048022/091414-11187-01.dmp the event log shows the following: event id - 41 task category - 63 bugcheck code - 126 and 209 if i get any more blue screens i'll be sure to add them. and again, i can't express how appreciative i am of everybody. this is by far the nicest and most helpful online community i've ever encountered. cheers everyone
  12. Thank you so much for the encouragement. at this point i've pretty much ruled out the clock speed as being an issue, thanks for the input though. i did really love assembling all the actual hardware and cable management was actually way more enjoyable than i thought it'd be. all these blue screens are beginning to be a bit much though, i just can't wait for this thing to be running like i know it can. but once again, thank you all (everyone who's responded to this post) for the advice and encouragement.
  13. I put an r9 270x in there originally but i thought that might be what was causing the issues so it's not in there right now; in fact, it hasn't been since the start of this post. I'm going to try that download now and i'll let you know how it goes. thank you very much
