  1. Specs: MSI 970A Krait Motherboard. ASUS GTX 970 Strix AMD 8370 CPU 8 x 2 HyperX Fury Ram EVGA NEX750 Power Supply Samsung SSD, 2 WD hard drives This is kinda a long story. Back at the beginning of July, I was playing The Division, and my pc suddenly shut off. My power light was blinking, and the fans stopped running. Pressing the power button or the reset button did nothing, holding down the power button didn't turn it off. So I switched off the power supply, let it sit for a bit, and tried to turn it back on. No dice. The fans would try to spin, but couldn't. After googling around for a bit, I tried a spare power supply I had. Still nothing. I have no other spare parts, and after a chat with MSI tech support, I RMA'd the motherboard. Three weeks later I get one back, reassemble, and we have progress! The fans turn, the hard drives sound like they're spinning up, but nobodies home. No post. So I borrow an unused graphics card from a friend, as some people suggested that might be the problem. Still no post. I haven't tested my RAM, because I had RMA'd it earlier this year, and tested it when it got here, just to be sure. So at this point, I decided to see if my processor was the problem. As I do not have a spare, I hit up AMD support and checked: my motherboard supported my CPU (AMD 8370), there was no heat damage on the CPU, no bent pins. So I got to RMA that too. I just today got a new CPU in the mail from AMD, same model. Same problem. I am truly at a loss. I'm usually pretty good with trouble shooting, but now? I just don't know. Should I just buy a new motherboard? Leave MSI behind?
  2. Multi meter it is. For now. Ill report back on my findings. If I find anything.
  3. When I turn it on I hear the hdds spin up, but I don't hear any clicking. The hdd activity light isn't going either. But all the os stuff was on the ssd. Any other ways to tell if it might be the CPU? Fixing that might be less demanding on my budget.
  4. There is no onboard way to connect to a monitor. It needs a card. All the post cables a connected so that they can click in. Like the little attachment things on the side.
  5. Specs: MSI 970A Krait edition motherboard AMD FX-8370 Hyper-X Fury 16GB kit (2 x 8) 1333 mhz ASUS 970 Strix graphics card Samsung SSD, two WD hdds EVGA NEX750 750W power supply. I was running windows 10 before this whole ordeal started. At the beginning of the month, After 5 and 1/2 months of good service, while I was playing the division, my computer crashed. No BSOD, just straight to black. My power led was flashing. After several attempts to restart, I looked around online a bit, and tried: a different power supply, a different wall plugin, check the breakers, checked the ram, reset the CMOS. None of that did anything, so I contacted MSI support. After trying some of that for them, I was given an RMA number. I just got it back today, and things have improved, but only slightly. The fans run, the led on the graphics card turns on, but no post. I don't think its the ram, as it is slightly newer then the system itself, being the subject of a less vexing rma earlier this year. I have no spare CPU to test with, or graphics card, and no system speaker. This whole setup was fine right up to July 2nd. Really frustrating. I have read the sticky on this subject, not much has changed.
  6. Should be this stuff sorry for any weird formatting I'm on my phone. Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB Kit (2x8GB) 1333MHz DDR3 CL9 DIMM - White (HX313C9FWK2/16) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00J8E91N6/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_k3bTwbT107QJR This is what my memtest was showing.
  7. I've been having issues with memory management BSODs recently, after a year or so of working perfectly. I'm running memtest86 right now, and things don't look good. Tests 3 - 7 alone have produced upwards of 2000 errors. I've got two sticks of 8 gig hyper x fury, that I've had for about a year. Also running a Phenom II 955 black, and an ASUS GTX 970. I forget the mobo at this time, ill edit it in later. Any suggestions?
  8. I'm looking a building a NAS for easy storage and file transfer in the house. I've done a bit of research already on building one for yourself, and I plan to buy parts as I can afford them. What I need advice on is what kind of hardware needs to be in it keep it stable for long periods of time. Do I need all workstation grade stuff, or will some cheaper consumer stuff work? I know ECC ram is suggested, but how necessary is it, as it will eat into budget I'd rather spend on hard drives.
