  1. Aah no. I thought I had looked hard enough for people already posting about it. My mistake.
  2. Is Synapse even on their console? I thought that was their cloud sync thing.
  3. I work with a guy who goes by Ash. Will keep that in mind.
  4. She* And did. I knew that it would piss off the forum if I left it without edits for too long. So I acted swiftly.
  5. I wanted to write more than one line, but often people who do get beat to the news post by people who don't editorialize it. Didn't realize that was a rule. Sorry Mods.
  6. Today Razer has acquired not all but some of Ouya. Ouya, commonly known for its 2012 Kickstarter campaign for an Android-powered non-streaming gaming box was not as big of a success as people had hoped. Razer's CEO posted the following on Facebook announcing the purchase: Further Min-Liang Tan said "Ouya's work with game developers, both triple A and indies, went a long way in bringing Android games to the living room and Razer intends to further that work." As some may recall from the Ouya Kickstarter days. Many devs from Square Enix to Mojang promised to bring games to this new Android device. Whether or not the device itself was successful it was a definite step forward in the development of Android as a gaming platform. 7. Depends. ZFS doesn't need any hardware RAID and you can do software RAID (but it is much slower).
  8. Denial of service is an attribute of security, but Apple is certainly doing a lot of good.
  9. That was my point is that you don't get double precision. And 12GB of VRAM basically is irrelevant at this point. I'm sure people can come up with edge cases but 99.99% of gamers don't need that. If you need a card for rendering then get a Tesla, and if you're budget oriented to the point you are forgoing Tesla drivers and double precision then might as well get a 980 ti. And the Titan X and 980 ti are basically identical in performance, I've even seen the 980 ti win over the Titan X in OC benchmarks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ap9U4SGJayk#t=0h17m14s
  10. Wow. Titan X buyers must be livid. They can't even justify it with "at least I have double precision".
  11. I was thinking of posting this earlier before anyone had and wasn't sure if it qualified as tech news. Oh well, I'm glad someone did.
  12. If there is anything Americans are good at, it's doing something you told them not to do. Especially if it was the government saying not to do it.
  13. There's footage that isn't in the YouTube videos he probably wants to keep, YouTube accounts can be compromised, YouTube does compression which degrades the quality.
  14. So basically it's like Https Everywhere pre-installed on all Firefox browsers? Not an ultimate solution (web sites need to play their part in updating) but a cool thing for them to do.
  15. I love Linux, but let's be honest. How many people actually use Linux as a main OS or dual boot? It's not a good thing for Microsoft to have done. I'm not going to defend it. You own your computer, you should be able to disable this kind of feature.
  16. I don't use it super often either, but it's super nice for emulators on the go. I played through Mario 2 up through half way into the last level on my flight out/back home.
  17. I wouldn't say that it's all in their advertizing. Take the media for instance, when Apple releases things it gets talked about "the big Apple event happened today", and iPhone launches are a much bigger deal than say HTC. Apple advertizing that their latest product is "more betterer than the last" is a different phenomenon. Also I've seen some Android ads on TV, but I haven't seen any with devices featured. Another nasty trend that I think is related to this is people recognize the brands instead of an OS. I hear things like "we have apps for Samsung and iPhone". Because Apple has high market share as a single company (even if Android's combined manufacturers are a larger share) it gets recognized.
  18. I recently was on spring break so this story takes place on a plane. After takeoff I pull out my Nvidia Shield. An older lady sitting next to me asks what it is, no surprise there. I tell her it's an Android gaming device. She doesn't know what Android is, I tell her it's a smartphone operating system and she drops the topic. Later when we land, I see her pull out an iPhone. She doesn't know what Android is but has an iPhone. That blew my mind a bit. Good job Apple. That's some really powerful branding and marketing you have to have an audience that doesn't even know that Android even exists.
  19. Not if you're getting an entry-level card that's 4 gens old...
  20. That'll teach me to comment before reading!
  21. If the rumors are to believed it will be older content. But if it includes GoT and isn't Apple TV exclusive it will be a smashing success.
  22. I think it looked better with the silver/"aluminum" shroud. And I feel like a single smaller rear blower fan, even with Maxwell, is not going to do a good job with two high-end GPU cores.. That card is probably not going to be quiet or it will throttle.
