  1. bought it new, mined for a while. was unstable for him so that's why it ends up in a box for me to fix. I just feel like I'm so close since software can see the damn thing. I have a lot of other card from him that are indeed completely burnt out ( only the fans are spinning, gpu doesn't even get warm). any who thanks for the help, gonna keep poking at it until I get bored. if anyone has an idea, nothing is dumb at this point. Thanks !
  2. noticed something really weird on the plex/minig rig. hwinfo sees it, but can't see clocks.
  3. system posts, switched the preference in bios still no output. since post I put it in my plex server / mining rig and installed radeon software. driver install saw the card, I'm able to remote into this computer but nicehash does not see the card. it's getting weirder
  4. So i have a buddy that mines, from time to time he gives me a box of stuff that doesn't work for him. In said box there was a msi 5600xt gaming mx. my first step is to reflash stock bios with amdvbflash. It's been working miracles for me in the past. then I run HWINFO after reboot. multiple psus tested and the base system works for sure since it boots and outputs without the card. just looking for some trails if anyone can provide. I'm kinda clueless as to why everything looks normal and I'm still unable to get a display output. tried DP and HDMI on the card as well.
  5. Hey sorry for the slow reply, been away from my PC for 2 days. for power, I live in Québec, electricity is really cheap, doubt it'll be 50$ a month, for my appartment with 3 gaming pcs running every evening, we pay 40$ a month, so yeah. it came with a windows 2008 server and thinking about it, i'm pretty much gonna do everything with PLex, so i'm gonna use windows server. did a bit of research on ZFS, it'S amazing, but kinda heavy. I will be upgrading to a 115x system someday, especially if the power consumption is expensive. if you have any other tips, PLEASE BE MY GUEST !
  6. So, Got this older server from my boss for really cheap. What I want to do is for it to run my Plex library and be a be my main backup It Has 2 8 core xeons, 4gb of ECC FB dimm ddr2 Ram, a raid Card and a network Card. currently have 4 terabytes of storage ( 1tb+3tb) So, My main question is What do I use? Also I don't really care for redundancy, this will be mostly media and mildly important stuff, the really important stuff is elsewhere. Like I said, i'm a beginner at server stuff. I know my way around a computer and hae heard about Freenas, just want you guys' input. Thanks In advance guys
  7. not gonna go unraid for sure, plex will be 1 thing at a time for sure
  8. sorry that'S not really clear, I need help with the accessing the storage from outside my network
  9. So here's the deal. Got some Parts from My father in law's old pcs. here's what I got: Cpu: Q6600 Mobo: Some Intel board with 6 sata ports RAM: 4gb Some old amd 1g gpu (mostly for the hdmi port) 500W PSU 3tb wd green (Iknow I know, not the greatest thing, trying to save money here) 1tb laptop drive 60gb ssd Here's What I wanna do with it: Plex server Backup file from the main pc ( But nothing important) My girlfriend will someday need to back up some files to it too from outside my local network play emulator games on the tv Edit: I need help with the accessing from outside my network Part. Thanks in advance
  10. well, thanks guys, I guess it's simple phisics ... No Online gaming for 2 weeks
  11. So, My parents, got a new internet service from the only other available ISP where they live. it happens that this ISP offers satellite service. My parents live in a very rural area. Dad's a farmer, there's no cell reception and dsl 2mbps was very slow My mom told me she was getting this other Satellite ISP with an advertised speed of 10mbps 'cause she was sick of the slow connection. it's installed now, AND OMG IT'S ALMOST WORSE THAN IT WAS BEFORE !! tried to download a steam game = 30 KBps while gaming, my ping rises to 900ish and never fucking drops .. i'd at least like some explanation, I'm a pretty tech savvy guy, but kind of a noob when it comes to networking. Good thing I only spend the summer here and I can soon get back to my fiber 50mbps at my apartment ...
  12. Good Idea, 4460 is locked but the 960 FTW is factory oc'd, But I don't overclock any more than that.
  13. I got the case from this dude, It was a client build but the client cancelled, He's selling cheap 'cause he got paid anyway
