  2. I'm looking to upgrade my motherboard and was wondering if anyone could give any recommendations? CPU is an AMD FX-8350, with 16GB of 1600MHz DDR3 RAM. I'm currently using a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3, and want to upgrade due to more PCIe slots, SATA 6Gbps, and most importantly to overclock my CPU. I've been looking at the gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3. Any thoughts on this or input on other boards would be appreciated, thanks.

  4. WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! Editing some video. Would replace my AMD chip and give me good excuse to upgrade other parts of my computer as well.
  5. Wow they look good. I think I'd go for the Carbon Fibre looking one, but I'd probably turn off those LEDs.
  6. EDIT: I apologise, but it seems someone made a post about this as I was typing this out. Any mods, please feel free to remove my post. Link to other post: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/212486-dell-venue-8-7000-worlds-thinnest-tablet-with-intels-realsense-3d-technology/ Dell have announced the worlds thinnest tablet at the Intel developer conference. The Dell Venue 8 7840 is merely 6mm thick and sports an 8.4 inch 2560x1600 OLED panel. The tablet, running android 4.4, is powered by a quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 clocked at 2.33GHz, and comes with 32GB of storage, which is reportably expandable via microSD. Also of note are its front facing speakers. Beyond being the worlds thinnest tablet, the Venue 8 7840 also showcases a new Intel technology named "RealSense" which uses 3D depth sensors to judge how far away an object in a picture is, not only allowing refocusing, but other interesting features. For example, by using triangulation, the software can calculate the distance between 2 points in an image. Other demos on show also showed snowflakes falling onto a bike, and turning a colour image black and white, starting with the closest objects. 7. A while back, about 2 years now, I was beginning to plan building my own computer. Funnily enough, internal PC hardware was not the reason I found Linus. I needed to figure out the best way to get my PC connected to the internet, and having heard about Powerline in the past, I did a quick YouTube search. What the search returned was an NCIX Tech Tips video, of Linus comparing Powerline, WiFi, and a wired connection. I decided that I quite enjoyed the presenting style, and watched a few more. Then, when I was looking for a case, I searched again for a case that peaked my interest, and yet pretty much the only decent video I could find of it was Linus doing an unboxing. I recognised Linus, but not the channel. Instead of the NCIXcom channel where I had expected to see him, he was instead on a channel named LinusTechTips. Since then, I watch daily, not just in an attempt to keep on top of everything that goes on, but because I also enjoy the videos. I stay up late on Fridays to watch the WAN show, I try and recommend the channel to my friends if they need help with anything, and if they ever ask about anything tech related over social media, my first response is to check to see if Techquickie has a video on it, as chances are that anything I can say, I learned from there. Thank you Linus and everyone who is a part of Linus Media Group. Without you, I literally would not be where I am today. Your videos have lead me to become an avid tech-head, and have in part changed my entire life plan. I'm heading off to university at the end of September to start a course in Computer Science and Electronic Engineering, after being sure I'd be doing Physics for the longest time. I couldn't be happier with my choice. Thank you all for opening my eyes and allowing an easy way in to the world of technology, and for producing what are, in my opinion, the best technology videos anywhere. I hope you find every success for as long as is possible, and I wish you all the best of luck. I'll be counting down the subscribers to 2 million.
  8. Just the design. I love my Nexus 5, I really do. It's fast, fun, suits me and I absolutely adore having the latest version of android all of the time. But still, whenever I saw my Dad's M7 and now whenever I see the M8, I can't help but WANT one. It is easily, in my opinion at least, the single best looking phone out there.
  9. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-26865869 It still has to be approved but it's a pretty different stance compared to in the U.S.

  11. Feel that I have to point out the TP-Link TL-WR702N. I have one and am just so pleased with it. Really useful if you're on the move. http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-WR702N-Wireless-Repeater-150Mpbs/dp/B007PTCFFW/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1393453029&sr=8-6&keywords=TP+link
  12. Yeah, by the looks of things I am. I have a USB 3 to SATA cable for my external HDD anyway so I'll probably try it and see, I was just honestly a bit curious. And while for most things I don't feel bottlenecked, in some scenarios I just feel I would benefit from that sequential speed. Thanks anyway.
