    Status Update

That is terrible. I can get gigabit for $13.5 but I'm okay with only 600Mbit at $11
  2. I personally do. Just to see what people are selling. There are also niche groups of IT hardware enthusiasts where they post exclusively IT stuff for sale.
  3. Why not realme GT Master Edition?
  4. Honestly. People. Forget all the negative reviews that 5 year-old Chinese phones had. Xiaomi (and their Poco sub-brand), Oppo, realme, etc. They are no longer a joke when compared to their more expensive counterparts. As long as it's a phone made in 2020-onward it will likely be a very good experience. Concerning battery-life here's a chart from a well-known Ukrainian mobile phone reviewer: https://andro-news.com/amp/news/reyting-vremeni-avtonomnoy-raboty-smartfonov.html (Haven't updated the table in a few months, nonetheless, the data remains relevant ). No need to know Russian. Just know that they apply the same set of processes to simulate a variety of usage-cases. The S series of Galaxy phones are never even close to the top of the results list. Plus, these lesser-known branded phones (at least for the US) can be purchased NEW for, often, 30% of the price of a Samsung flagship.

Using an R7 1700 since October 2017. Got it for…

It's about 20 degrees hotter than my 1700 at full load But definitely better performance.

I'm using a x370 mobo, so upgrading the mobo to a higher version is a one-way street. The cheapest 5700G around these parts it $370 new. If I get a 5700G id have to update the mobo and hope the 5700G works or else I'm screwed.' Anyway, the 3800X is just too sweet of a deal which it not likely to be beat. Plus, who the hell overclocks ram these days? Youtubers may make videos on the topic but it's super niche.

I do work at home and multitask often. Plus sometimes have a game in the background. And not having to manually overclock will definitely help in getting the most out of this chip. An additional benefit ca be the option to install Windows 11 after 2025, since 1700 wasn't approved by Microsoft.
  8. Using an R7 1700 since October 2017. Got it for $258.12, Amazon Warehouse Deals.

    Now I found a deal for an R7 3800X at $155!

And I might sell my 1700 for at least $90 on a local website.

Should I take the plunge? 🙂

      I would just go for a 5700G,

Because monolithic chips are significantly better for RAM overclocking.

Especially if you want 4000MHz or better RAM kits - That you can't do with a 5800X or a 3800X.

  9. Get 12th gen. Any new CPU gens have pitfalls specifically in their first months. Why wait just be their beta tester and pay extra for your suffering.
  10. I'm using a 2016 Office Home and Student version for several years now and haven't encountered some feature that's missing. Why would someone seek to upgrade their Office version?
  11. I suggest you research other categories on the forum for posts you have some experience with or read a few guide posts, build logs and comment there. You don't have to do it artificially.
  12. The Datsun 240z is the epitome of how a daily-use sportscar should look like. Anything after that is an imitation or is plainly lesser than.

      Not a fan.

      Good 🙂

  13. I suspect that 3080s are binned more tightly since a lower number of those reach the expected core and memory frequencies. While 3070 have a wider margin.
  14. That's what I'm expecting for the lowest and maybe some mid-tier because they cannot auto-OC due to temp limitations. Limitations that are lessened in more expensive models which can boost better, and longer thanks to better fans, power circuits, etc Anyway. I'll spend an hour looking at a few common game benchmarks for some models. I might even enjoy it.
  15. You would be surprised. There is no actual roundup. Closest is one with OC comparisons among 3 models. From someone else I found this BUT it doesn't actually show working numbers in games. Just actual running hardware data.
  16. Wanted to look at the feasibility of comparing lots of 3070 models from various manufacturers but what I'm mostly finding is "The best" or whatever. What I want to see how big is the delta between the lower, mid and top tiers because I recall that in previous years it really wasn't THAT huge. Unfortunately, looking at different reviewers isn't feasible since their benchmark setups aren't the same.

Any idea what kind of smart phone is in her han…

My wife has an Ace II, the version from Japan. Has no buttons on the left side. Just the SIM+SD slot.

I'd agree it's likely a Sony phone but with a case. Looks more elongated than the usual phablet plus the camera setup is quite Sony-ish from the past several years (Xperia 10 and 1). Buttons don't match anything obvious and misses the dedicated camera button.
  19. I'm so glad that my GTX 1070 purchased in 2016 is still serving me well in 2022. It was $495 back then.

Sadly had to pay $740 (includes tax) for a 3070 and hope it'll serve me 6 years at least.

  20. You expect the depreciation of 1070 to be significantly higher till the end of the year? Compared to the price of a 3070 which has been opened for over 5 months at that point?
