depend on where you live, but check the following prices
Budget slow nvme: Kingston A1000, Adata sx6000
Higher speed nvme, WD black, Adata sx8200
some how to me, the wd is only selling for USD66

I've always thought of the Samsung 960 being rock solid, but you are paying a little bit extra since they're effectively the 'Nike' of the SSD and TV space.

Depends on the flash/controllers but ya, some drives have like 3K reads but only 1K writes

RAID is RAID, at some point it's going to fail and take your data with it, probably best to just run a single drive soon as you can back up your data.

Just contact customer support, or just toss in a single 240GB NVME drive, they're pretty cheap now for the basic 1K read/write models

3K read/write models aren't even too expensive either.

It's the raw-value you need to look at. That said, there's nothing worth seeing there on your disk. What matters is the manufacturer and model: the Liteon cv1-8b128 is only rated for a theoretical max of 160MB/s writes, so, in a raid0 you hitting 300MB/s is right on the mark.

H.K. reacted to Lady Fitzgerald in Is it necessary to reapply thermal paste for Laptops if the cooler has to be removed once or twice for servicing?
    1. Yes. the thermal paste (aka TIM) needs to be replaced anytime a cooler is removed. Not doing so can (actually, most likely will) allow air to be trapped between cooler and the CPU/GPU, reducing the ability of heat to be transmitted to the cooler.

    2. Display cleaning fluids are too mild for removing TIM. You should be able to get at least a 70% solution of isopropyl alcohol at any drugstore. It's also known as rubbing alcohol. Higher percentages are better but even 70% is better than nothing.

It's recommendable to replace the thermal paste if it has been on there for a while. before opening the laptop. More so I'd say if you left it out in the open for an extended period of time. If you sent it in however, I assume they did that already for you. The quality between pastes doesn't vary dramatically if you get some of the more common stuff.
I'd try to find some pure >90% IPA, as I don't know what's in the cleaner. I don't like sprays either as it's much easier to use in a bottle. The main point is getting something that has little water/other stuff in it that could, as that needs longer drying times.

Building a desktop, in my opinion, would be better for the further upgradeability of the graphics card later when you get better prices on graphics cards if VRAM if an issue at 4gb then you might have to wait a bit longer till the prices start to go down again. If 4gbs is enough then this https://pcpartpicker.com/product/x7s8TW/msi-geforce-gtx-1050-ti-4gb-video-card-gtx-1050-ti-4gt-oc should be good for you and also if you are doing light simulations a lot then most laptops from what I have seen on this channel except for the new ryzen one pale in comparison to a desktop CPU.

There are rumors that next gen nvidia cards are being released around April so if you can wait it might be worth it. You could always build the 8700k desktop with out the gpu and add one later when the new ones come out or the prices go down.

SPCR Had originally built a silent gaming rig in the R4 for a review, and got the R5 sample in partway through testing. After testing they swapped the system to the R5 to compare the R4 and R5 with the same hardware in the same tests. The R5 stock fans were on par with the aftermarket ones they'd used in the R4.

I think when I was looking at case silent c review found the r5 to be a quieter case, I liked the look of the silent base better though so I went with that. Slow down fans and use less of them and its near silent, well it's quieter than I can measure accurately with my sound meter.

Than again any case can be silent at light load, just change FAN RPM, i recently switch from R5 to 460x and move the desktop onto my desk and the noise at idle and load are not even audible. I might have NF14 but i have kept the stock RGB Fan from corsair but i changed so even at load it RPM is still ~60% which is not audible unless you are really trying.

Actually, the Define R5 has pretty impressive stock fans. Then again, BeQuiet! is one of my go-to-brands for aftermarket fans... I'd think you'd make a good purchase with either case without having to go out and buy new fans right away.

I love the look of Fractal's Define line. I've got two R3s, and I've built many systems for customers in XL R2s, R4s, R5s, S's and Mini's. They're a joy to work in!

    1) that i5 has 2 cores and 4 threads, 1.6-2.6ghz after boost
    2) the 840M is not a strong GPU to begin with

regardless, it should still run the game, make sure you have the proper gpu driver installed
(i recommend 361.xx or 362.xx, like the 361.91, dont get 364.xx drivers unless you play the latest titles)
