  1. Don't judge a PSU by its brand, judge the PSU by its manufacturer because some brands use multiple OEMs for different power supplies. For example, Brand A (reputable brand) may use OEM 1 (good) for its high end power supplies, while it may also use OEM 2 (crappy) for its cheap power supplies. I would recommend using jonnyguru.com to find reviews and information on these power supplies to see if they are worth it or not. XFX - http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story9&reid=216 EVGA (review is for 500w version, but they are internally similar) - http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story6&reid=351
  2. Here's the PC with four watercooled 7990's (no risers) and dual LGA2011 Xeons if anyone's interested. http://devgurus.amd.com/message/1284618
  3. Software limitations/PCIe bus limitations and such. I've seen a rig run 8 GPU's with four 7990's before, but it probably wasn't used for gaming. Only rendering and mining machines would benefit from over 4 GPU's. I think NVIDIA's current SLI limit is five GPU's, but I may be wrong.
  4. I have the I5-3337U Dell XPS 12 and got 223cb plugged in on high performance, so you must be on power saver mode. Just ran it unplugged on power saver mode and got 69cb.
  5. Also, is it on High Performance mode? I have the same laptop and will do the same benchmark soon.
  6. Awesome! Hope you had a great Christmas and have a happy new year!
  7. Yeah, 48 or 72 hours are the usual time limits set for payments by most sellers on eBay. Some sellers may go up to 7 days for more expensive items. In fact, most large stores on eBay clearly say that on a Payment section in their listing. If he doesn't respond or pay within 2 or 3 days of pressing the buy it now button, file a case for non payment and re-list. Also, $650 is a lot of money, so to minimize risk of being scammed, take lots of pictures and meticulously record everything you can such as serial numbers, cosmetic defects, parts, functionality, etc. because unfortunately, eBay is biased towards the buyer, rather than the seller, so it is very easy to be scammed by a buyer with reporting items DOA, returning different/damaged products (which is why serial numbers are important), etc.
  8. I guess the release date must have been pushed back because according to several sources, it won't be finished until 2016 now...
  9. I'd love to win an X99 chip. I have a Rampage IV Extreme sitting, collecting dust. Maybe it's time to get an X99 motherboard.
  10. Is this true? I remember PCBS, but I don't remember doing bad things... Didn't he "leave" the forums because of trolls in the August of last year? I mean, he made a thread about it. Is he the guy who "left" and came back, because I remember someone doing that.
  11. Oh yeah, I remember those guys. I always thought JoeltheZombie would become the overall post leader after being the first to reach 5,000 posts. WoodenMarker seems to have that won, for now... To be honest, some of the members who left didn't have to make it so public by announcing it. There's definitely been a lot more contributors than that who have left the forum for different reasons without us acknowledging it. It makes me wonder whether or not some of them just did it for the attention. For all we know, they could have just "left" and made a new account. I'm not trying to disrepect those members listed, just my two cents.
  12. You forgot to say your signature ending, "As always, don't forget to subscribe to LinusTechTips for unboxings, reviews, and other computer videos." Congratulations on the million!
  13. <_< Because it's unsportsmanlike... You already know you've won the game... Taking a shot at the buzzer when up six points with no defense shows lack of class. It doesn't do anything useful, it just angers the other team even more. It's like throwing a hail mary at the end of a football game when you're up a couple of points, instead of just kneeling it. Boatright was classy and did the right thing. He dribbled the ball back and let the time expire instead of scoring more, useless points. Everyone should win with humility and lose with grace.
  14. He used two PSUs to power 6 R9 280s and only one CPU and Mobo. That's a total of ~1700W -200W for the CPU and Mobo and peripherals to give you 1500W for 6 cards, approximately 250W for each card. The R9 280X TDP is 250W. You used two R9 280Xs which would be a total of 500W, and a CPU and mobo that will consume between 150W and 250W. That's about 650W-750W full load consumption for a system with two cards. You'd need at least 950W to power your whole system with 3 cards. I'd recommend at least 1000W.
  15. If it won't even spin up, there may be a problem in its power delivery. Since it contains sentimental content, I suggest you take it to a professional storage recovery serviceman and recover as much content from the disk as you can. Just because the PCB doesn't work, doesn't mean the HDD is not salvageable.
  16. You can tell it's an IDE hard disk drive by its interface. We can see that it has ~40 pins in 20 x 2 configuration in its connector, which is the IDE connector. What PC do you currently use right now? If you have a PC that's over 5 years old, it may have an IDE port already. If you have a custom built PC, state which motherboard it uses.
  17. Add more contrast between the cat and the background and you've got yourself a shirt! Also, the cat in the first one has one of his legs positioned in a way to make it look like something else....
  18. This. Or, if you can't wait/afford it, the Saitek X52.
  19. The beta will be in 2014, and the actual game will be released in early 2015. I would still mark it down for one of the games to anticipate in 2014 since you'll be better off getting the game earlier because of alpha and beta access now along with other exclusive early backer content. Plus it'll be cheaper if you get it earlier than getting it once it's released. That being said, yeah technically it'll be out 2015, but you'll be able to play it (alpha/beta) in 2014.
