    I got this GPU used a while ago, and it died when I got a VR headset, presumably from the extra load.

     

    And its only a couple months out of warranty.

    @James Evens I didn't want to take it apart, but something went pop and now it artifacts

    This must be a mistake on their end, not even Apple is that insane and broken - when your repair costs more than the machine (or at least when they think it does) they just tell you to buy a new one lol

    Hopefully this gets sorted out soon

    probably a little electrolytic on the board. I bet it would be pretty obvious if you popped the cooler off. If it was mine, I'd have them send it back unrepaired and try my hand at fixing it. Failing that, I'd buy 1080ti or two with the money I saved not paying ASUS for ridiculous repairs.

    @Hackentosher I doubt it. The pop made it crash and it articacts on reboot. Probably fucked silicon somewhere

    maybe the voltage transient is what caused the crash, and then the lack of cap that's supposed to be providing a stable voltage is causing artifacts. It's already fucked, what's the point in not trying to fix it yourself?
