My 570 is a fucking three slot card and sags quite a lot if I don't hold it up with something, what's holding it up currently is a pencil.

Will people quit with the videos.. read the Beginners guide, linked above, and read EVERYTHING on there, it is all important.
(Videos cannot be updated easily, the arch wiki stays up to date and accurate.)

Arch isn't designed to be user friendly, Its a powerusers distribution. If you want a distro that has openbox and has an easy to follow install process look at Crunchbang.

    Hello there!
I put up an upgrade log a while ago but that was with some bad gear and components.
Well anyways, i got a really nice gift from my parents just the other month, a "Gigabyte GAZ87X-UD4H" and an Intel "Haswell i7 4770k"! How cool is that?
So I decided to do an upgrade on my GPU as well, my GTX 560 ti just didn't do the job. So i ordered an R9 XFX 280X. A month later i recieved it and put it in.
My PSU then started to coil-whine so exhanged my Corsair CX600 (old version) to a Corsair RM750 (Nice and quiet).

    Specs:
    Case - "Zalman Z12 Plus"
    PSU - "Corsair RM750"
    MOBO - "Gigabyte GAZ87X-UD4H"
    CPU - "Intel I7 4770k"
    CPU Cooler - "Corsair H60 v2"
    RAM - "Corsair Dominator platinum 2x8GB 1866Mhz"
    GPU - XFX Radeon R9 280X
    HDD - "WD Green 1,5TB"
    SSD - "Samsung 840 120GB"
    Optical Drive - "???"
    Fans - 2x "Noctua NF-S12A", 1x "Noctua NF-F12"

    Here are the pics!

the ath m50 comes in red white and silver as well as black.
for something with a bit more bass the Vmoda lineup is pretty flashy. the crossfade lp can be seen for under 100 however the sound accuracy of the vmoda is a bit less than the m50

used vlc once years ago...never again.  it's alright for testing purposes but i use MPC HC for media playback with LAVfilters. MPCHC plays everything out of box.

Actually installing Arch is pretty painless nowadays.
I used the following tutorial, and had no problems (he also has some more vids on
setting up more stuff after the initial install):
I can't really comment on other lightweights from personal experience, but there's
actually a Wikipedia list on these things.
Not sure how up to date it is, but it might provide a starting point.
I've heard good things about Bodhi and Puppy, so maybe those are worth checking out.

If it had a 1080p screen the battery life would be worse. To me, that's the only important thing; when I have it home and plugged in so I don't have to worry about battery, I would also have it connected to an external monitor (it has an HDMI port and the power to play at 1080p) but when I'm out somewhere I can deal with a slightly lower resolution (at least it's not 1366x768...) especially since I'm already on such a small screen. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I'd prefer the battery life over 20 more PPI.

... In theory, I don't exactly have the resources to test how much of a difference it makes.
