  1. Noctua has finally officially released their 200mm fans. Still in their puke beige color and brown though. http://noctua.at/en/noctua-introduces-new-a-series-fans-and-accessories Better late than never!
  2. Since RAID itself is not a backup plan having multiple backups is always a good idea. For example a PC with a raid setup to store your files and backing them up to external HDDs just in case the raid fails. An even better idea is not to have the all backups in the same place but have offsite backups like have a copy in your bank's safe deposit box or in the cloud. An you can never have enough backups. The hard part is to keep your backups up to date so that if you lose the original it has already been backed up somewhere. The way I backup my important files are: Synology DS1511 with RAID6 is my main storage location. I upload file to it and they are the "originals". I have a 4 TB external HDD attached to the Synology that does daily backups I have a HTPC in the living room(seperate floor from the Synology) with external HDDs attached. I installed software to keep it synced with the Synology so I don't have to worry about keeping the HTPC up to date That HTPC also has Backblaze installed to backup everything to the cloud so that I have an offsite backup. I also have an external HDD that I leave at work and update it every month or whenever I remember it. To have another offsite backup just in case. Probably a bit overkill but since I have those PCs and extra HDDs laying around why not put them to good use.
  3. Cool giveaway. The projector seems like a great thing to have at lan parties if you don't have a big enough TV.
  4. The SSD would be perfect as a cache drive for the unRaid server I plan on building. After seeing the LTT video on the Gaming NAS PC, I'm inspired to create my own. I'll use good old fashioned HDDs for media backup and the SSD for the gaming OS!
  5. 4K video looks like a cool feature. Now, i just need to get that 4k monitor
  6. Username: psychostudent https://www.vessel.com/videos/Yj4PbcgKj - pricy but tempting, my current joystick is getting worn out and I am looking for a replacement. https://www.vessel.com/videos/G-DUjgUyY- Wish LG would come out with a 1440p version of this monitor or maybe a 4k version
  7. Massdrop is having a March sale bazaar and they have a couple of LG 34UM94 - 3440x1440px monitor for $749.99 USD! https://www.massdrop.com/buy/lg-34um94-ultrawide-monitor I'm so tempted go get at least 1 but i think I'm going to wait for a 21:9, 3440x1440px ( or 4k equivalent), 120hz, IPS with Freesync . The ONLY difference is the 34UM94 has a 3 year commercial warranty where as the 34UM95 reviewed by Linus has a 1 year warranty. For Canadians, as of right now, it's about $1078.54 CAD + Tax(5% federal + your provincial tax) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnrxNfxRK_4
  8. cool giveaway, Thanks Intel and LTT! I was considering building a media PC for my dad. If I win this one, i won't have to spend a penny!
  9. Cool Giveaway! If I won the 5820K I will definitely make a custom water cooled gaming PC. If I'm lucky I'll also win the Pudget mineral oil kit and I would absolutely make a oil cooled PC!
  10. It's a real shame that Pudget couldn't continue to sell these kits. I've water cooled 3 of my previous PCs and started using acrylic tubing(including bending) on the most recent one. Now water cooling is almost mundane I would like to tackle the challenges of a mineral oil PC. I would definitely do an x99 build if I got the mATX kit! The temps on full load is worrisome. Would turning the pump or the radiator fans up help with the temps?
  11. I like the cpu cooler, the default intel cooler i have installed is horrible. The intel cooler is loud and can't cool my cpu very well.
  12. How about using the extra RAM as a ramdisk? If you get a 16 or even better a 32gb kit, put 6-8gb or something as system memory and the rest as a ramdisk, whould games load notacibly faster? I've seen other ppl use ramdisk applications to load entire games into RAM and run it from there. from what they say, loading times are so fast that load screens just blink and you're in the game. Sure you have to copy over all the game files into RAM before you can start playing but with an SSD copying a couple of gigs shouldn't take more than a few seconds.
  13. Is it just me? Or does the headset look a lot like a pair of Beyerdynamics? Especially the headband and earcups.
  14. 1 million is just a number. I want Linus to review his Lambo! I think I found LinusTechTips the first time was when I was browsing the NCIX website and saw a video on a product. I liked the unboxings as they showed a good quick overview of the product. I love what you have done so far. Keep up the good work!
