  1. alright, well the CHC's EmoRarity was referring to are these: http://www.amazon.com/California-Headphone-Co-CHC-SILVERADO-Headphones/dp/B009F4BV8C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1394639094&sr=8-1&keywords=chc+silverado I got a pair last week, they sound very good, and they're good for using out and about if you don't wanna use in-ears.
  2. fair point, but to people that don't know the states much, it's sorta confusing.
  3. What's your location bro? ok doesn't tell me much
  4. Well now you at least know you shouldn't use the E9 with low impedance headphones / IEMs. I don't know if the E7 has a high output impedance, it might, might not, but I can only find info on the E07K, which is a newer version, and that one has a 0.3 ohm output impedance, which should work with pretty much anything. OH WAIT- NwAVGuy did a review of the E7, where he says the output impedance is 0.1 ohms or so, which is very good. but back to one of your original questions- the 4 pole connector of the IE8i cable will only deliver audio through the E7, so you'll have to use the phone's single output for just the IE80's if you want to use the mic and controls.
  5. ah yes, the infamous sennhisahgairsyiahj "great". Steelseries is... usually a babystep ahead of most other gaming headsets, but "great" is a little much. literally got Shure SRH440's with 840 pads for like 10% more here in Norway.

    Adapters

Shouldn't affect the sound at all.
  7. I just need some clarification, is it the regular Fiio E9? or is it the E09? or the E09K? Because if it is the E9, I don't recommend using it with IEM's, as they have low impedance, and the E9 has a 10 ohm output impedance, and so does your soundcard, and the output impedance should be less than 1/8th of the impedance of the drivers, in which case the IE80 is 16 ohms, which could actually damage the drivers, if not just change the sound of it, to a loose, boomy and overpowering bass. If you were to get the IE80's, just use them straight out of your phone, if it doesn't get loud enough, get a different amp for them.
  8. It's free man. there's a button called "proceed to download" where you download it for free

    Audiophile Headphones

apparently there is a new series from HIFIMAN coming, the i versions, they're supposed to have better headbands. just so you know. Clamp force may have something to do with isolation, but not all closed headphones squeeze your head, my SRH440's certainly don't, especially compared to my Silverado's and M50's, and even my Sennheiser PC360, which is an open headset, based on the HD5x8 series. and the 440's have decent isolation.
  10. them Shures are godlike, I have them, with 840 pads, review in signature! there's also a review of the M50's if you wanna read that.

    headphones

They should be alright for gaming, but an open headpone with a wide soundstage could be even better, like the Sennheiser HD558, or Audio-Technica ATH-AD700X (sucks for music though, no bass) and those definately don't need an amp.
  12. Try it with your current setup before you buy any more stuff. if it doesn't get loud enough, or there is crackling, hissing, popping or so on your onboard, then you can start thinking about getting more stuff.
  13. *sentence that says exactly the same as all the others here* no, but really, M50's aren't good enough, nor are they hard to drive, so they won't really get better with better equipment.

    muh surround sound mayne
  16. Yes they are, I was just pointing out the fact that although the frequency response may look similar, they sound very different.

Why do you want surround? physical surround in headphones sounds like ass, and virtual does too. I'd recommend just getting stereo headphones, the separation between the drivers wouldn't be as good as a speaker surround setup, really.
  19. There is more bass in my 440's than my PC360's, which is very similar to 518 and 558. Actually, they sound VERY different, and frequency response graphs don't tell the truth.
  20. the cable doesn't break easily, it's a pretty good cable.
  21. Also, none of the headphones need an amp, so unless there's some crackling or hissing with your onboard, there's no need to get anything new.
  22. getting 558 over 518 seems unnecessary to me, they sound almost the same, with a tiny bit more bass in the 518. myself, I prefer the Shure SRH440's, and even more so with the 840 pads, if you can get those, I highly recommend that. the stock pads on the 440's aren't that good, the 840 pads solve this. You can read my reviews of the 440's and M50's too, they're in my signature. to keep it short: M50's have more bass, but less mids, highs are very similar, but a little "smoother" on the 440's. comfort is lightyears ahead on the 440's with 840 pads, and the replacable cable is nice on the 440's, no replacable cable on M50's.
