What is the reasoning for that lens? For cinematography I would go with a (samyang) prime lens with an f1.4 aperture. The focus on Samyang is butter smooth and they are sharp as hell. (I am assuming you don't use autofocus)
edit: its also a lot cheaper

Awesome Photo, 10/10. The only thing I noticed was that seems a bit blurry for some reason. Maybe a smaller aperture?

btw - Its a bit dark

Hey, I watched your guide and it was actually really good! The only recommendations I would have is maybe some more script planning before hand, maybe writing down some dot points beside the camera. Your lighting was really a cool but a tad dark, I think YouTube darkens videos from my experience.

To be honest. Macs win when it comes to editing and developing just due to the Software packages AND macs tend to be more stable when it comes down to letting a video render for 10 hours. This comes from working at a game studio when I was younger (older brother was the company CFO) and me as the PC guy came to understand this very well when it comes to dealing with a game that cost $40,000,000

truth is, publishers and illustrators, yeah you will see alot of macs. same with music studios too, cubase seems to have been pushed aside for the mac. but video editing/animation/VFX etc, you will find they mostly use windows based machines.

But in al honesty it is down to what they get taught on. the reason the video editors and animators use the windows based machines still is because the programs they use are windows based and not on mac or because they have compatablity issue trying ot get their hardware working with the mac, where as windows drivers are always the first on the list.

As much as people are disagreeing with @MrSuperb he's absolutely right, Mac workstations are still being used because of a number of reasons, including FCP, whether it's because it's what the studio used before or because the editor learned on FCP and wants to use it. It's easy to forget how much of a niche market PC building is. There absolutely are better portable computing options than a MBP, however we know where to look for them. I know for a fact that many studio's haven't even heard of MSI or Clevo, and moreso, many editors have never built a computer in their life, and are still under the impression that lots of RAM = fast compute performance. And it's not their fault, Microsoft hasn't even attempted to engage the content creation market, neither has Intel or AMD to any substantial amount. The interest and education simply doesn't exist. Apple did a stellar job nailing the content creation market when they did, and that's why they've held such a long monopoly on it. With that being said, has anyone been paying close attention to Adobe's actions over the last couple of years? Switching to CC and to OpenCL, or even subtle things like darker themed software and an interestingly similar default workspace layout in Premiere as FCP aren't only business and compatibility moves. They're preparing for a massive market takeover, which is going to start very soon. Apple has been too long out of the market, and FCP simply isn't competition for Premiere anymore, especially seeing as Premiere is cross platform. I can't say much, but if you're starting higher level/ university education in the next year or two, don't buy editing softwares, you may find yourself in possession of a certain software through your study, for free. Keep in mind the benefits of cloud licensing, like multi platform support and multi machine support. Now if all of the young editors and content creators had learned on Adobe softwares, there wouldn't be much room left for Apple, would there? Adobe's swap to OpenCL and/or immensely powerful APU's also makes me think that AMD's next release may be quite targeted towards graphics acceleration. Food for thought

Ars Technica has a really good article about different operating systems in creative professional envrionment. The article might be a bit long, but totally worth reading.

    http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2013/09/making-the-ultimate-creative-content-os-ubercreate-os-1-0/

On page 4, you see Autodesk Maya rendering the same file on two machines, a Windows 8 based desktop with an overclocked Ivy Bridge hexa-core 3930K versus a MacBook Pro with a mobile Sandy Bridge quad-core CPU @2.5GHz.

Remember, higher specs may not result in higher performance, especially if the software and/or OS isn't properly optimised for the task.

well that is a nice lens, and that would do for sports. Tho if you want to do media, say like linustechtips then that focal length would be way to telephoto (It's practically way too large of focal length for indoors), what I was looking for was something more like Canon 70-200mm F/4 USM, non Is version tho at $700 or so you can get the IS version used or when canon has a large instant rebate which happens every few monthes. yes F/4 is one whole stop smaller then F/2.8 but it's not shabby at all, this lens also makes a very good bang for the buck outdoors wedding lens ( usually most photographers use the 2.8 version which would be over $2000). Tho if you choose to not get the IS version it is best to shoot with a tripod or monopod or something

There's alot to think about when buying a new camera.
Have you any lenses already from a certain company/brand?
Have you any experience with dslr before?
You say entry level camera and link 3 mid range ones with the 600D enrty level.
Getting into photography aint cheap, you will have to pay for the field you want to shoot...
Camera body/macro lens for insects/zoom for distance shots/tripod or mono pod/case to carry your camera and lenses/a good memory card or 2, plus maybe some other stuff that takes your fancy.
Then you have post processing software again the best ones aint cheap, and if you do want to PP these need a fairly new operating system and a reasonably specced pc to run smoothly. Oh and nice monitor too (ideally colour calibrated to with something like xrite color monki display or spyder4) because if u do PP on a poo monitor, when you print the colours will be off same thing when you see your pics on another monitor, compared to how you post processed them.
I would get the Nikon 5200 out of the ones you linked as it has more focus points and has more mega pixels so you can crop a bit more in post processing.
Any other cameras to look at? Nikon 3200 or the 3300 stand out off the top of my head.
I also recommend going to your local camera shop to see which camera feels better in your hands.
Have a look at digital photography review website there is a wealth of info over there, they also have a good comparison thingy there too, also helpful forums too.

Canon is better for video recording, Nikon is better for Pictures.  (This is my opinion, you don't have to agree) So it would be better to go to Canon, you can use a dslr camera for now and later upgrade to a professional video camera.

Bubblewhale is right canon has better video capabilites then Nikon, since canon is a professional camcorder maker, nikon on the oher hand makes x-ray and microscopes etc, which si why they do better in the photography side.

But its always a toss up who does better in photography since some people like canon cause their pictures come out more on the cool side(whitish), while nikon is more warm (yellow). But to be honest of the normal companies I think Fujifilm has the best advantage in colour.

I'm personally I'm a Nikon, Fujifilm and leica user.

I Personally would go for the 28mm just because I find that the 50mm can be awkward because it is so cropped in.

Apparently you need to mash F10 repeatedly on startup to get into the BIOS, once in there look and see if you can see a boot manager to see if your hard drive is a boot option.
