It is not about warranty! It is a pro product. Even when the warranty is expired or voided, you should be able to fix it. Apple not giving out the certifications or the parts, doesn't give you an option to repair.

I am currently at university for Mediatechnology and Design.
I have a really good PC at home, with a GTX 980 and an i7. I mainly work on my Macbook Pro.
The reason is, that all the Software is much more stable. Sure after i finished the work i open the Project on my Home PC and render it there, but working on it?
Maya 3D is horrible on Windows, i just have crashes all over the place, where on the Mac, i have yet to experience one -  even for really complicated geometry. Logic X is by far the most userfriendly DAW out there, and is still very complex, also no crashes on Mac.

Sure you can argue about the Price, if 1 600€ is acceptable for this Hardware. But i have to say yes. I had countless Laptops before, none of those had the same production quality and battery -  and if i look at comparable laptops from Dell or Lenovo, they are pretty similar priced. Also the resell value is a lot higher for Macbook. I will probably buy a new Macbook in like 2 years, and the old one will still sell for a fairly decent price.

Bonus is you get something like Garageband or iFilm which is really decent for starting Music or  Filmproduction Of course you can build yourself a  PC for half the price with 10 times the power. But you can also built yourself a Bass Guitar for 500 bucks that is better than a custom shop Fender for 5000. Why do still people buy the Fender? Cause it works -  it gets the job done with no problems, stutters or disruptions. Obviously you also pay extra just to have the name Fender on your headstock (just like you pay extra for the name on a Mac).

You are 16. In a few years, you might want to do something different. Suck it up and take the math classes. Are they significantly decreasing your grades in other classes ? No - then continue to do them.

Everyone has to do what they don't like. It grows you as a person. If i would only interact with things/people that i like, i won't grow as a person.
A friend of mine hated maths with all his passion when he was in highschool (in Austria that is from 15 -18). He then started to study biology at university. There he has to take math classes and he found it so facinating and insteresting, that he switched to Maths.
He is currently doing his Phd and he did his master summa cum laude.

To be honest it is important that the school you go to in the age of 15-18 teaches you a huge variety of things and doesn't specialize. I know way to many people who just hated one subject and loved another and at university it was reversed. Hell i know a friend who loved programming, and when he started software engineering at university he hated it. and now he is a teacher, something he swore to me he will never be at the age of 17.

People change , you change. And it might be not in your interested, or in your mind, but in half a year you might want to do something different.

I already listed 2 examples from close friend. Now i got mine. I wanted to study Jazz Bass, cause i loved doing it. I played in a lot of really well known bands, and got a lot of high prestige gig before i was even inscribed to jazz bass. I nailed the audition at the Convervatorium in Vienna, which is one of the most respected musical universities in the world.

I had 3 months before university started, and in that time i went on a roadtrip with a few friends. We bought an interell ticket (allows you to take trains, busses etc in whole europe) and went around whole Europe. Nothing particularly happened in that 3 week, but after that i knew that i wanted to study Mediatechnology . Don't ask me why. I never liked Maths or Physics or the little bit of Coding we did in school.
I took the Mediatechnology Test and still got in, despite being one of the latest applicants and they only took 50 people out of 600.
I study Mediatechnology since 4 years know. I have successfully completed my bachelors and I am doing now my masters. And i love it.
It took me only 3 weeks to change my mind, and I wouldn't have been able to do that if my highschool (15-18) didn't provide me with enough general knowledge.

You get education basicly for free and having enough times on your hand, and that is something that you will never get in Life again (I don't pay students fees in Austria, but i know they are really high in America). So take the opportunity and don't miss it, cause you think it isn't important on your professional field. Maybe you will never use it, or maybe you will for the rest of your live. Who know, so think before you take on decisions that might be life-changing, and open your mind.

Might be a mixture of both. It is well known that litium batteries can explode, and i think it is much likely with quickcharge. Combine that with a modification that pushes the boundries of quick charge and a bit of faulty production and u got the note 7

Except that with every product there is compromise.

People are going to vote with their wallets. Again, if the product suits the consumers needs then the consumer will weigh their needs against the price put on that product and buy it. Economics.

Apple has already reported that the new MBP are selling like hotcakes. That must mean 1 thing. That the decisions and compromises Apple has made fits the needs of their consumers. Why else would consumers buy a product? If thousands upon thousands of consumers are ditching their old MBP then they have decided, using their own judgment, that the new 2016 MBP is a superior product to their old one.

Again, if you need 32gb of RAM in your laptop, then perhaps this laptop isn't meant for you. That being said, it will be the laptop for many satisfied customers.

So while yes, this laptop may be a downgrade for you and many others. It's an upgrade for other people as well. It all comes down to what each individual needs and by the looks of things this laptop isn't meant for you but what needs to be understood is that it's okay if this laptop isn't for you.

That is the point most people are missing why Apple's hardware is cheaper in the long term if you're trying to use the least number of Avid/Adobe product lock-in hell, the Apple tax of OS+software support is voting with your wallet.  A large number of Mac users also own PCs/use Boot Camp to use Windows-only Corel software or gaming too. I haven't gamed on a Mac since Civilization 4.

From 2003 to now, I've saved $90,000 by using a Mac over Windows--never had extended downtime from a botched Windows Update, avoiding the post-Adobe Creative Cloud transition, avoiding Pro Tools/upgrade treadmill, etc.

I'm sure there is also a crowd of LTT members who hate people like myself who pay for Red Hat Enterprise Linux Workstation & Server and Oracle Solaris "Support Contracts"--both are just as important as Apple for maintaining a 99.9% uptime   (I don't use Windows for mission critical tasks, I once had a Solaris database server running 5yrs without a reboot until the OS was EOL, it was a sad day since it was Sun Microsystems-era Solaris install before the Oracle rebranding)

Because i have relations to an Apple that writes Programms for Apple, I get a Macbook Pro 13 inch for around 1200 with a few upgrades. I normally get it with the Apple Care Package, and after 3 years i just sell it for the same price i bought it . I have been doing this 2 time already, and the third one is on its second year.

I can easily afford it, so i see no reason, why i shouldn't get the better product.
To be honest i like the apple environment much more for programming than the windows one. MacVim is just so smooth to work on.

Anyway, I wil probably switch to an iPhone soon, but my whole music libary , which i ripped from my own CD's is all in Flac, and i am mostly to busy to convert it.

I actually was enrolled in this program and came here after seeing that LMG picked up Full Fail as a sponsor (I'm disgusted, frankly). In fact, I heard somewhere that if we have feedback with a sponsor we are encouraged to bring it to LMG's attention; that's why I'm here but I haven't figured out exactly where/how to do so yet.

IF YOU VALUE YOUR TIME, MONEY, AND FUTURE STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE FROM THIS COMPANY.

    Story time.

I enrolled in August 2012 for Game Design online. I was not an on-campus student, things may be different there. The enrollment process was extremely pushy. They used emotional triggers, called incessantly, and constantly talked about all the perks of being a "student," like the fancy Apple equipment that would cost me 160% market value plus interest. Oh, Launch Box, how you haunt my credit rating. Once I finished enrollment (my enrollment advisors were Shaun Exantus and Jessica Robbins--I remember the names because I realized my mistake in trusting them), I was able to have a conversation with precisely one more employee at the school over the next 6 months. Repeated attempts at contacting instructors by e-mail were unsuccessful. The courses I completed consisted of 2 short books--A Theory of Fun by Raph Koster and The Ultimate History of Video Games by Steven L. Kent (both are good reads, but the former is amazing)--as well as several videos including the YouTube series Extra Credits. Original curriculum was non-existent, so calling this a University is quite hilariously inaccurate. All of it was available from other sources. Maybe I didn't get far enough in to experience the Full Fail difference, but I digress.

Less than halfway through my program I was already realizing that I was not a student. I was simply a conduit through which student loans could flow. To wit, there are many stories from former employees (I refuse to call them instructors or professors in this context) that they were pressured into passing students who weren't supposed to pass simply to move them along in the program to keep loans coming and quotas met. The irony of this truth is that despite my enrollment guides' reassurances to the contrary; my degree would be utterly useless to any company that wasn't involved in the Full Sail gravy train. Full Sail is not accredited, even their general ed per-requisite course credits will not transfer.

The "instructors" genuinely didn't seem to care about these classes, this was especially obvious during video classes where several questions were outright ignored. The truth is absolutely nothing about the experience was positive (other than the books, which I ended up paying well over shelf price for). Support was non-existent when problems arose - and at the time they arose frequently. Perhaps this is why, in late 2012 or early 2013 (it's been a while, sue me) Full Sail's online campus underwent a complete re-design. There was no warning either via e-mail or via instructors. The login page for the student portal was broke for a week. This happened 2 days before finals were to be made available. Every single student in my class at the time failed because we couldn't take the final. Did Full Sail make arrangements, apologize or even acknowledge the problem? No. In fact, we were all charged for the re-take, and those who had used their 2 'free' re-takes had the cost of the class added to their tuition. Some of those students were forced to contact financial aid to make arrangements. I had had enough. My useless degree was not worth a projected $57,000, let alone getting it by these means. I cut my losses and withdrew. About a month later, I received a $7,500 bill from Full Sail for classes I hadn't taken or even scheduled yet. I told them to kiss my ass, and I switched to a general IT education... 12 IT certs later and I couldn't be happier with my choice. The debt of my error still haunts me, but I learned a valuable lesson.

Don't take my word as gospel if you don't want, this is after all my first LTT forum post. Look around on the interwebs and you'll find horror stories just as bad if not worse, along with reviews from former "students" and "instructors" alike.

There are 2 reason, why a lot of professionals use Mac over a selfbuilt PC.
    1. It works
    2. Warranty

I have a Macbook Pro and i mainly use it for Programming (Java, PHP, Javascript and C#) , 3D Modelling (Maya mostly), 2D Motion Graphics (After Effects ) and Editing (Premiere).
I also have a good PC with 2 GTX 770 and an i7 - 460k. I never once had a crash on the Macbook, but a lot on the PC. Also Windows Updates and especially now with Windows 10 Upgrade pushing all the time, it has gotten to be a huge annoiance.
So you render a huge 3D Modell, leave the PC on overnight, the next day you power your display. Guess what, automatic windows update and it wasn't finishe, cause the pc restarted.

Second the Warranty. Sure if you live on the countryside it might not be a huge problem, because everything takes longer there, but in the city you just call the AppleShop and they are there in an hour. Selfbuilt PC, good luck with sorting that out without spending a huge amount of money or time.

Sure PC are much more money efficient, have more power and are more versitile. But people who spend the money on a Mac pay for the comfort, not the money efficiency.

Not trying to be rude, but i dont think you got the point.
Professionals want reliable hardware and good support. Things a custom machine doesn't have.

If your graphics card fails, and at the end of the day you still have to deliver a product  - it will be hard with a custom graphics card cause of RMA.
With apple they can repair most things in a few hours at the apple shop near you.

And the MAC Pro is more like a Smartphone than a custom pc, cause of the formfactor. You cannot built that as a custom rig.

Again it is not about consumers, it is about professionals. No consumer should buy a mac pro. a macbook pro yes, but a mac pro won't give them a lot more, but a professional is just at another level, in terms of needs and reliability.

And yes a consumer has the time to research, a professional don't have it. And if you work in an industry with equipment where  10 , 000 $ are peanuts, the price doesn't really bother either you or the company.
