True, none of my past upgrades as well have fallen in the current Gen CPU sockets, RAM and chipset. So all three anyways get upgraded every time I plan for one

Thank you, for putting together a list. As for selling the existing components, I was thinking of putting that money into Monitor.
But again thanks for that rough estimate.

ankit_k got a reaction from tarfeef101 in How good are these specs for a basic everyday PC build
I was anyways going to get a basic 128/250 ssd, since he already has an old HDD and also an external drive for most data.

ankit_k got a reaction from rentaspoon in FIFA 15 100% cpu usage on i3 3220
Got it fixed thanks everyone in this thread. Was a thermal throttling issue
- Removed and cleaned CPU heatsink and fan. Applied new thermal paste.
- The rear fan on the case was pulling air in. Turned it around the other way.
- The cpu fan was originally connected to the sys fan header. Changed it to cpu fan header. Not sure though if it did any difference.
The idle temps are now around 35 deg C and in game peak temps are around 56 with CPU usage maxing out to 80% in previous cases where it was 100 and the game used to lag.
Again thanks everyone here for helping me out!

Open XTU, it has a tab at the bottom for thermal throttling.

For a stock cooler and your processor, 65c max. With the more hungry i5 and i7s, you're looking at 75c max

You should be able to paint it, but you should clean the keyboard before that, otherwise you're just painting the dirt. As long as you mask the keys properly so that you don't accidentally paint on them, it should be fine. Don't know what kind of paint you would use for it, though. Linus has plenty of videos where he has done custom paint jobs on various things, I would probably start there.
As for the keycaps, you can remove them and give them a thorough cleaning. I would probably go with a solution of water and dish soap and clean each key individually. After cleaning, you need to let the keys dry properly.

I would restore it, and get some new keycaps.
