  1. Just checked the Strafe, and it seems that it doesn't have a volume wheel and macro keys. Am I missing something? I've actually looked at it, but I couldn't find any for sale in my region, And ordering via Ebay it becomes REALLY costy due to import charges and shipping costs. Thanks, though! I've actually considered this keyboard, I wasn't sure if it would be comfortable due to the curved key caps, And after re-watching Linus' review of it, I've decided not to take the chance. But thanks anyway!
  2. Hi everyone and Keyboard guru's especially! Due to some soda accident , I'm forced to search for my next keyboard. I've decided that it's time to switch to a mechanical (Finally got a reason), since I'm a software developer, and I'm typing A LOT! I've started searching the web, but to be honest, I can't find anything that answers all of my needs. So, in short: My keyboard requirements: Volume wheel Macro Keys MX Blue switches RGB? (Not a must, but would be nice) Currently, all I could find is the Corsair K95 RGB, which has the brown switches instead of the blue. So I thought maybe someone here knows any keyboards that can answer all of my needs? Thanks!
  3. I could really use a new work laptop, So my pick is the Razer Blade. It is slim, it is light, and still manages to provide the same fire power as other, more bulky laptops.
  4. I searched about bios flashing on the Asus boards, and found out that it is easy! All you need is the motherboard, flash drive with the bios file and a power supply! Thanks for the tip! I hope other people will benefit from it!
  5. From what I've read on many reviews, the MSI boards have 2 main issues: 1. Sound quality - the sound quality on other motherboards is much higher. 2. Durability - a lot of people are complaining about motherboards dying after days or weeks. Even if I get lucky in buying one that doesn't fail after a short period, I can't be sure it won't die after a few month or so. Is there an easy way to update the bios of the VII Hero without purchasing another CPU? I'm also thinking about getting the 4790 (non K version), which I understand has the Turbo mode, and is supported on the first bios version.
  6. Hi everyone! I'm planning to build a new PC next week, and after asking on the forum and consulting some of my friends, I'm going to have an Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard with the Intel Core i7 4790K processor. The problem is that in the Asus website, The i7 4790K is not supported in first bios release. (Which is 0401) http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_VII_HERO/HelpDesk_CPU/ The website says that I need to update my bios to 0609... How am I supposed to do it? Buy another CPU? Any advise? I'm new to all the PC building, so be gentle! UPDATE Thanks to Kryptyx, I searched the web, And came across this nice tutorial. (including a video) Requirements for bios update on Asus motherboards: Power Supply USB Flash drive with latest bios update (which can be easily found on their website) I hope that this will help someone.
  7. Wow! Thanks for all your replies! Yes I do. I only need to upgrade the rig, and in the future, I'm planning to add 2 1080p monitors. As I've said, I will be using the computer also for programming, so I do need the i7 processor. Actually, I've tried to play on a 3 monitors setup, and I didn't really like it. The 3 monitors setup will be used also for programming, since it really helps to set several monitors in different resolutions and test your program. I know that the green is slow, but I'm not planning on upgrading it. All the speedy things that I'll need will be on the SSD. As I've said, it's my first build, and I maybe didn't understand something right. From what I've saw, the VII Hero has AWESOME sound card on board, reliable LAN Ethernet port and great bus speeds. If it's an overkill, I'll be really glad to have an advice for another motherboard. Or maybe I should consider OCing? As I've said, I need the i7 for programming, not just gaming, so an i5 is not really an option. About the graphics card, it is a single 4GB card, not 2x2GB crossfire. Here is a link to the Gigabyte website: LINK Is it still not worth it? If I should consider a higher end card, can you recommend a specific one, please? As I've said, I need the core i7 for programming. So the i5 is not an option. I've checked, and from what I've seen, the H105 comes with the SP120 fans inside the package, am I missing something? Also, I've checked, and the H105 should easily feet in the CM Storm Trooper. Thanks for the heads up! Why should I consider the evga FTW 780 or the evga 850W Gold power supply? Any particular reason? Thanks again for all your replies! I really appreciate this!
  8. Hi all, I'm planning to build a new rig for myself, that will be used mostly for gaming and programming. The budget doesn't play much role, as long as it is reasonable performance/$. I've made my research (and lots of thanks go to Linus for this!) and carefully chose the following parts: CPU Intel Core i7 4790 I'm not planning to overclock it, from what I understand, it doesn't really makes much of a difference. CPU Cooling Corsair Hydro H105 240mm Extreme Performance Since I live in a worm climate, I need a good cooling, and low noise. Mother Board Asus Maximus VII Hero From what I've seen, this is a great motherboard, with great features. RAM G.Skill Aegis 2x8GB DDR3 1600Mhz PC3-12800 Kit CL11-11-11-28 I have no idea if the ram is good, but I get this kit for great price, and the reviews I've read on them are nice. Graphics Card Gigabyte Radeon R9 270X OC 4GB DDR5 In the future, I'm planning to set up 3 1080p monitors, so I need the 4GB of this card. SSD Samsung 840 EVO Series MZ-7TE250BW 250GB Cheap, reliable, fast HDD Western Digital WD Green WD10EARS 1TB 5400 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s That's my old HDD, which I will use for storage only. I'm not planning on upgrading it. Case Cooler Master CM Storm Trooper Like the looks, big = good air flow + easy set up. And because I've got two cats, the dust filters that the case have, will really help in preventing their fur to get into the system. Power Supply SeaSonic 850W Active PFC Modular 80+ Bronze M12II-850 I've calculated the money I would save on the bills if I get the 80+ Gold, and the 80+ Gold will be paid off after almost 3 years, so I went with the bronze. I've picked the parts carefully, and each part has it reason. I don't want bottle necks in my system, so if you can see one, please advice. Also, this is my first build, so I may understand some things wrong, but I'm willing to learn! Any advice of any sort, will be highly appreciated!! Thanks, Alex.
