  1. I remember them. Times have changed my friend. Once you see it, you can't go back without it being painfully apparent.
  2. Okay so I'm needing some opinions on what I should do. Currently I have a PG279Q with some slight visual defects and need another monitor as my main. I'll still be using the PG279Q monitor as a secondary for productivity as I work from home 8 hours a day. The new one will be used as my main for working and gaming on off time. I'm considering the PG279QM and the AW3423DW. I know these are completely different, but am just looking for your opinions. I have a 3080 Ti FTW3 (purchased a few months ago when my 1080 Ti failed), and have stayed away from 4k for example because I don't want to be constantly upgrading my GPU and want most games to run at higher refresh rates anyways for the next few years. Don't want to really approach 60fps in games if I can help it. Although I am a visual nut and still haven't experienced Ultrawide, Curved or HDR etc so I know I'm missing out BUT haven't really experienced what I am missing out on yet. I work from home like I said and dual monitor would be pretty useful right now for the extra screen real estate. I'm not sure if burn in or curved would be an issue for working from home. I've also heard of bubble wrap seepage issues due to shipping issues on the AW3423DW, but I don't know if that has been dealt with. So given the two options and what I'm wanting - what would you guys choose?
  3. Oh wow I had no idea actually. Thanks so much for the video! I will give the RGB lighting a shot!
  4. Needing an upgrade from the Asus PG279Q. Will still be using this monitor as a secondary for productivity as I work from home 8 hours a day. The new one will be used as my main for working and gaming on off time. I'm considering 3440x1440p or another 1440p monitor BUT not 4K and also not sure if OLED is a good idea in my case or QDOLED for that matter with the bubble wrap seepage issues due to shipping issues. I would like some kind of visual upgrade whether that be resolution or better colors without losing performance/speed/hz/response etc. Any ideas?
  5. What are my tradeoffs from going from IPS to VA? I know QDOLED's tried to rectify the burn in issue, but if I'm using the monitor as a daily driver and for working at home as well as gaming in my off time - would an OLED be a good choice or a big risk?
  6. Also, are you aware of the bubble wrap sepage on the AW3423DW?
  7. I have an opportunity internally through my work to get a Refurbished AW3423DW for much less than MSRP. Still a little bit more expensive than a new PG279QM but not MSRP. Not really sure if I should pull the trigger as it is refurbished and I would be using it as my main daily driver for working from home and gaming. I'd have 30 days as is normal for returning it for any reason. Do you think this would be a good idea? Or should I pass it up for now?
  8. So in your last post you weren't trying to mention Gsync Ultimate, so replace every mention of Gsync Ultimate with Gsync?
  9. And would there be any issue using Curved monitors for working at home or productivity?
  10. I thought there were three types of Gsync?: 1) G-Sync 2) G-Sync Ultimate 3) G-Sync Compatible Isn't G-Sync Compatible just uncertified G-Sync and G-Sync certified?
  11. What does normal Gsync cover? The same 1fps as G-Sync Ultimate? So there isn't a real reason to look for Gsync monitors then? I mean if Compatible only covers under 40fps - it wouldn't really be worth it anyway. Are Freesync monitors worth it and what would the experience be having an Nvidia GPU?
  12. Thank you so much for your insight! I've actually stayed away from Freesync and have only really payed attention to Gysnc and Gsync Ultimate monitors (not Gysnc compatible). This could just be from a lack of knowledge on if it makes that big of a difference though. Have run the PG279Q with Gysnc for years now so if I didn't have specifically Gysnc or Gsync Ultimate - I'm not sure if I'd notice and if I'd be losing anything from the experience. What would you think?
  13. If it's a case of keeping two monitors vs retiring one and choosing another - do you think you'd pair the PG279QM with the PG279Q in that case? Or would you still go 4k, Ultrawide or VA? I have a 3080 Ti FTW3 (purchased a few months ago when my 1080 Ti failed), and have stayed away from 4k as I don't want to be constantly upgrading my GPU and want most games to run at higher refresh rates anyways for the next few years. Don't want to really approach 60fps in games if I can help it. Although I am a visual nut and still haven't experienced 4k, Ultrawide, Curved or HDR etc so I know I'm missing out BUT haven't really experienced what I am missing out on yet. I work from home as well and dual monitor would be pretty useful right now for the extra screen real estate (even though my current PG279Q has some visual issues like a few bits of something inside the screen near the top-middle, some feint lighter lines near the bottom etc etc). Not dead by any means but somewhat annoying as my main. If I went with the PG279QM, it'd be my new main monitor and the older PG279Q would be used for more productivity and extra screen space for work and maybe keeping a browser or something open while I game on the PG279QM. I really want better blacks of course, but haven't used a VA panel before - certainly not OLED or QDOLED, never tried dual monitor yet surprisingly and do think my next monitor after this purchase would be either an Ultrawide or something similar to performance of the PG279Q/PG279QM with better blacks or colours. I mean maybe 4k but I'm still on the fence for that. If my work situation was more clear - maybe I'd give myself the room but as of now I'm not sure. I did really consider the AW3423DW too but as a daily driver and as a work main monitor - I'm not sure how much a problem burn in would be.
  14. What are the current top monitors in the 1000+ local dimming zone mini-LED VA and OLED/QD-OLED categories?
