m33r reacted to The_Strict_Nein in Nvidia Gameworks controversy continues...
I see no controversy. Nvidia spend millions developing cool new technologies, and AMD deserve to get them for free because why?

AMD also have the chance to optimize non-gameworks versions of the game for the developers. If Nvidia are willing to spend the money for an optimization team to work on a game, then they deserve the increase in performance. As Nvidia say, they don't prevent Game devs from working with AMD or other competitors.

I'm sure Opcode can tell me

    http://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2015/03/23/samsung-galaxy-s6-edge-bloat/

TouchWiz on S6/S6 Edge was leaked on XDA Dev Forums that kept promise of less bloatware by Samsung.

A user in the dev forum found out that not only is there less bloatware on the new touchwiz, but almost every one of the pre-installed app can be uninstalled and wiped completely from your phone.

This even includes apps that couldn't be uninstalled before (unless rooting).

    Apps include -
    GMAIL App
    Google +
    Youtube
You can even uninstall the Play Store app.

Of course all the Samsung crap can be uninstalled like S health/voice

And the Microsoft bloatware that comes with most Android phones like
    OneNote
    OneDrive
    Skype

Poster Jeshter2000 stipped the phone to the bare basics.
    Dialer
    Calendar
    Web Browser
    Camera
    Samsung App store

Pretty much every app can be uninstalled without rooting or voiding warranty on the phones.

m33r reacted to LinusTech in LG G3 Review and.... TWENTY-FIVE Phone Giveaway?!
    NCIX: n/a
    Amazon: http://georiot.co/30oN

The G3 from LG is the first phone I've used with a 2560x1440 display. That's a lotta pixels! Not to mention the rest of the top-of-the-range specs!

Alright, now onto the good stuff. LG is giving us TWENTY FIVE G3's to give away! All you need to do to qualify is post your favourite thing about the G3 from the review above in this thread and you can be selected at random to win one of these phones!

Please note that they are retail units (in the video I said pre-production, but this has since been changed) and they are Korean unlocked global units, so you will need to verify if they will work correctly on your carrier! To my knowledge they will work on AT&T or T-Mobile, but I got no data - only get voice and SMS on my carrier (Bell) so YMMV.

Either way you can still enter to win one, and you an always use it as a portable gaming device or whatever... I mean, it's a G3 man! The wifi will work! Best of luck to everyone!

    One entry per household.

The giveaway is worldwide and closes July 6th and the winners will be announced on Twitter, so make sure you're following @LinusTech!
    WINNERS:

m33r reacted to LinusTech in PewDiePie reveals his annual revenue!
That number sounds about right if he's doing basically nothing to optimize his revenue opportunities.

Mind you, with his overhead, and that kind of revenue, who cares about squeezing every last dollar...

It's interesting to know that my effective payout per view is fairly similar to his... He's a very high profile 'tuber, so I suspect his ad placements command a bit of a premium, but he's in a more saturated space (gaming). I'm much smaller, and less likely to be targeted, but my CPMs are on the high side, so it works out about the same.

The next trick is to figure out how to 30x my viewership...

Some people in this thread have mentioned this already, but I feel like I should say it too... YouTube money is not all it's cracked up to be - ESPECIALLY if you have a team to pay living wages to. Without this community, sponsors, commercials, and all the other stuff we do, we could not survive. If it was just me, my camera, and my cats then I'd be pretty ballin, but I have a bigger vision than that... I could never run this community by myself, for example.

Thanks for all the feedback. I appreciate it.

One thing I really want people who long for the good 'ol days to consider is this: Have I really changed, or have you changed?

The timing of this post is particularly interesting since it comes RIGHT AFTER I uploaded not one, but two motherboard videos in just a few days... What is more "classic LTT" than a motherboard overview video? Yes, it's better shot, and I have a chance to gather my thoughts BEFORE the video rather than during it (scripting), but is it POSSIBLE that you just don't need to hear about every motherboard anymore since there just isn't really that much to say about them?

The reasons you see me branching out are not due to a focus on money, but because I believe in the longer term it will be better for the audience. #1 is that I try not to say or do the same thing twice if I can avoid it. If that means that I don't unbox all three capacities of the same power supply the way that I used to, then so be it. #2 is that I let my own personal interests and projects guide the direction of the content because if I'm not actually passionate about it, you guys will clue in for sure and then this is all just pointless.

I'm sorry to those folks that aren't as interested in headphones as I am, but the content will continue to be about the things I think are interesting, not just PC tech.

Also some of the complaints here seem to be pure bandwagoning... The folks that are saying that *I* have sold out to ASUS because *Logan* made however many ASUS videos with JJ... Are you for real? CES coverage aside, I've made 5 ASUS product videos this calendar year. FIVE. If anything you guys should be hounding me about not adequately covering them given what a MASSIVE player they are in the PC space...

And frankly many of the other criticisms are like that... Calling what we do a commercial compared to the older-style unboxings is laughable. GO WATCH THE OLD STUFF. I'M LITERALLY READING THE BOX ON CAMERA. I have no prior experience with the product. It is PURE commercial. Now go watch one of our recent reviews (bear in mind not everything we do is something I'd consider a review) like this one:

Not a commercial. Contains many comparisons to other products. Ends with a recommendation against the product in the video.

As for us not going to Computex, quite frankly it's the viewer-base that spoke on this one. Last time I checked our Computex coverage last year got 1/2 as many views as our CES coverage, and cost our sponsors well over twice as much. You guys didn't care, so we aren't going this year.

    CES 2013 coverage: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8mG-RkN2uTxynknFjCZ2YVM_RiBgde7-
    Computex 2013 coverage: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8mG-RkN2uTyJKThbEAxoGGi8uXxNqnbb

edit: one more thing. Don't take the fact that I'm presenting my arguments here as a dismissal or to mean that I don't care about the viewpoints of my viewers. I truly do. If I didn't care, I would just be like every other YouTuber and ignore your message. I want our videos to make every one of our viewers happy. It's just not always possible

    Hello Linus!

All I have to say is that do what you think is best for yourself and your viewers. I myself have been a longtime fan and subscriber, from the beginning of the NCIX YouTube days, and it always brings a big smile to my face to see you where you are today. I know for a fact, that you have worked incredibly hard for it all. Keep up the good work!

I have met countless people in random computer stores discussing your videos and your recommendations, and I quickly pounce on the opportunity to join in and flag up various points in the videos of the product people are discussing (And I live in SAUDIA ARABIA of all places, the friggin desert!). We LOVE you, not just the information you present us with, but your personality as well.

I understand how with time, you have to change aswell, how this isn’t just a hobby of yours anymore, it’s a business, and I appreciate everything you’re doing to keep everyone happy. IT IS NOT EASY! J
Having said that, ofcourse there will always be people who complain, and fuss about how you handle your channel now as compared to the past, but this shows how much we love you, and for you to reply back to all of this feedback? Shows that you love us too.. (No homo).

Just saying, sometimes I miss those ole’ unscripted videos of Linus fumbling with boxes, but that’s just natural I guess, and with time, I have learned to adapt to different stuff you do, and appreciate it. Remember, this goes to show how much we love you! Heck, there is even a video compilation of you hitting yourself with internal PC fans! Look at this forum and community! There would be no Linustechtips.com without Linus! J We love and appreciate everything you’ve done, thank you.

Best of luck for everything in the future, you will always have my subscription and like J

    3-way sli is quite inefficient.
I was thinking by that time, you could upgrade to a new cheaper and more powerful gpu which would accommodate for the then more mainstream 4k displays.

If it's nothing too serious, a 4770k should do just fine with video processing. It should probably be better for gaming as well.

Anything outside of heavy rendering or APU's won't really benefit from ram faster than 1600.

What are you using the ssds for? If you're just using it for games/applications, the normal Samsung 840 (non-pro) will be just as fast.
If the thing you're worried about it faster loading times of games, hdds in raid 0 is a cheaper alternative that does the job pretty well.

No need for caviar blacks if you already have an ssd. Since you were getting multiple drives anyway, cheaper caviar blues or seagate barracudas in raid 0 should do the job better for cheaper.

Triple sli doesn't really scale well. Since you listed watercooling, are you just doing it for the looks?

Ram is ram. You could get the cheapest ram with the same specs and you'd get the same performance.
This seems to be an expensive/powerful build. What are you planning to use the system for?
