  1. Are we not going to talk about using the money you plan on spending on a 5600x and 6800xt to instead find a place to stay? If you seriously NEED a more powerful rig right now, get something used for cheap that gets the job done from ebay or craigslist or something. From what you said in the OP, there is more important stuff to do right now than building a PC.
  2. Hi everyone, Not sure if this is ok to post here. Just wanted to let you guys know the score of my initial cinebench run using a 5800x in an Asus ROG Strix x570-F Gaming with 64GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3600CL18. Cooled by an NH-D15 with two fans in a Corsair 4000D Airflow. Single Core: 617 Multicore: 5967 This is out of the box without any tinkering.

  4. Hi everyone, Unfortunately, I was only able to get my hands on a 5800x instead of a 5900x. Still deciding if I am going to use it or wait for a 5900x to be available again. Can someone explain to me why the 5800x, in many benchmarks (e.g. techpowerup), gets significantly warmer compared to the 5900x? The chips have, design wise, the same TDP, and the 5900x has more cores. So why would the 5800x output more heat?
  5. I suppose every single one of the usual retailers will have them: https://www.alternate.de https://www.cyberport.de https://www.mindfactory.de/ Amazon ...
  6. Thank you everyone for the feedback! Why would you choose the MSI B550 Motherboard over the X570?
  7. I thought about it, but went with the 3800xt for the higher clock speed. But I guess you are right that the 3900x would be the better choice overall, since 100 Mhz won't be much of a single core performance gain.
  8. Hello Everyone, After 6 years, I am ready to retire my trusty workhorse (PCPartPicker Link) that has been upgraded with new RAM, new storage and a new GPU since its first days in 2014. For my new system, that will be used for work as well as gaming, I have the following plan Budget (including currency): 3000€ Country: Germany PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/yDvdjp CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT 3.9 GHz 8-Core Processor ($383.98 @ Amazon) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 CHROMAX.BLACK 82.52 CFM CPU Cooler ($100.00) Motherboard: Asus PRIME X570-PRO ATX AM4 Motherboard ($234.99 @ Walmart) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 64 GB (4 x 16 GB) DDR4-2666 CL16 Memory ($219.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Samsung 970 Evo 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($168.25 @ Amazon) Video Card: MSI GeForce RTX 3080 10 GB GAMING X TRIO Video Card ($800.00) Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower Case ($79.99 @ Newegg) Power Supply: Corsair RM (2019) 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($139.93 @ Newegg) My plan is to have the system as white (and black) as possible, RGB is not important at all. I am currently waiting for Zen 3 to be announced and then see if I will wait for the release or go with a current Ryzen CPU. First thing: I know the 4000D has a USB-C port at the front but the x570-Pro does not seem to have usb-c. Does someone know of a suitable board with usb-c? Second, I have checked part compatibility, but if someone with more experience than me could maybe check if I missed anything, it would be much appreciated. Finally, I am happy to get feedback on the part selection. Thanks in advance!
  9. While there might be a theoretical threat of static electricity, I'd probably lable that as nonsense. Personally, I vacuum my keyboard every other day. These things are pretty tough. I replaced my old one because someone spilled lemonade over it and the sticky goo made it aweful to type. After getting a new one I just showered the old one. I literally took it into the bathtub and cleaned it with a relatively high preassure water stream and kitchen soap. After letting it sit for a few days it now is like it is brand new. Might have been luck though.
  10. Oh boy. I have a whole cabinet full of old hardware. HDDs, GPUs (One GTX of each generation since i believe the GTX 2XX series), RAM, CPUs, some cases, kilometers of cables, ... . I just can't convince myself to throw out anything that potentially works. Not that anybody would ever want to use 1 gig RAM modules or I will ever be in desperate need of an Intel i7 920. It just sits there waiting for the day my hardware cabinet becomes full and I have to find a solution.
  11. Oh yea you are right. The 5X is about 100€ cheaper than the M9. That is actually a valid point...
  12. Why would you chose the 5X over the M9? Less RAM, less performance, the plastic body seems to be kind of wonky (according to reviews). The only advantage i see is a faster update cycle due to being a nexus.
  13. I actually thought about that as well, but I think i wouldn't like its size. Its quite a bit taller than the M9 and my old One S.
  14. Hello everyone, I am currently looking for a new phone to replace my trusty old HTC One S. I am looking to pay around 400 - 500€ (450 - 570$-US). As i like my current phone i was looking for another HTC. In particular, i was looking at the HTC One M9 as it currently sits at 407€ on Amazon. I was hoping that the price would decrease even more after the unveil of the HTC 10 in the coming days. Any experience if the price will drop shortly after the release of the new version? And then finally to my actual question: What do you guys think about the M9? Especially since it seems most of its problems (overheating, performance issues, ...) seem to be resolved with Android 6.0. Is it still a viable purchase that i can use for a couple years? I dont care about things like the camera or speakers. Aluminum body, decent battery life, good build quality and extendable storage is what i like about the phone. Would you recomment buying the M9 or would you suggest another phone in the mentioned price region? Thanks in advance, Lorunification
  15. But you did run memtest for an extendend period of time right? (Like 12+ hours)
