  1. Honestly a Macbook would be more of a pain than a help. Dongles for everything, restricted video editing performance outside of Final Cut (which I'm really not prepared to switch to), and the extremely steep pricing.
  2. tbh last gen blades are going £800-900 on eBay right now which is in budget.
  3. Hello! Basically I'm in the market for something to replace both my desktop and laptop. I've just finished my first semester at university as a filmmaking student and need to upgrade my editing solution. Why replace both my desktop and laptop? My desktop simply cannot handle the Panasonic GH4 4k footage that we edit (even transcoded), thanks to the weak Xeon 1603-v3 being pinned at 100% at the thought of opening Premier, and furthermore it takes up far too much space in my cramped dorm room, and my Macbook Pro 15 inch can't handle it either, but on top of that, needs a battery replacement, and is becoming sluggish just nipping around MacOS (even after a fresh install). So basically I'm looking to replace both with one laptop for ultimate portability (essentially allowing me to work anywhere as I move from my dorm, to home, to my girlfriends' pretty frequently and have to stay away for shoots). I don't really think an ultrabook would be up to the job, at least from a longevity perspective, and I may struggle connecting all my peripherals when it is docked in my dorm (keyboard, mouse, external hard drive enclosures, etc). Gaming is not a priority, I only play light games for the most part now due to time constraints, but when I graduate I could always build a gaming desktop if I wanna get back into it. Requirements: -Powerful enough for transcoded 4k editing in Premier Pro CC. -Decent IO for connecting to peripherals. -Good enough battery life to last through lectures (roughly 2-3 hours max) for taking notes. -Not over £1000 ($1300) preferably. I am open to buying used/second hand if it means better bang for my buck. Thanks in advance!
  4. I think that sounds like a good idea, thanks
  5. I do I have a HD PVR, how could I use it for this? Use a HDMI to component wire?
  6. Hey guys, basically I'm planning to livestream a few lan games of DOOM with my friend. I want to add both of our screens into the stream, but I don't know how to do this. I have a capture card if that is a way of doing it, or maybe there is some other way I'm missing? If I haven't explained what I'm trying to do clearly enough just say
  7. I agree with you on this one. I've got horror stories to tell about their returns policy, with another HP laptop funnily enough. If you're set on that laptop, do a google shopping search for it. You might even find it cheaper elsewhere
  8. If you search something, click "search tools" and you should be able to tell Google to show results from any country, not just Germany.
  9. I'm going to give it a try at least, for the graphics they keep hyping so much if nothing else. I don't know if it'll have any sort of career mode to keep me playing though
  10. @ wng_kingsley7 sorry about that, still getting used to it all
  11. That's a nice build for gaming, it should run the latest titles at 1080p for a good couple of years. My only suggestion is to use a higher wattage PSU. That way you have more options for upgrading things like your GPU or even watercooling in the future
  12. No problem bro And I'd consider maybe moving to a smaller SSD before eliminating it, I'm running a 64gb Sandisk SSD as my boot drive and its awesome.
  13. I have heard that BO1 was good And I already have BF3 so it may be a good idea just to stick to that.
