  1. Done, sort of. Jumped ship on the ASUS. Now running the ubiquiti dream router. Very little network settings have been done so far, going to see how it goes. Have enabled ip passthrough on the Netgear now. Only other thing bothering me now is it keeps going from 5G cellular to 4G, only way to get back to 5G is restart which works most of the time. My area isn't rated for 5G even though it does connect. I don't have the option for adding an antenna to improve cellular connection at the moment so for the time being I'm sure it will be fine. Thanks for all your help p.s. feel free to comment if there is a solution for the 5G cellular connection dropping p.s.s. hope you have a good weekend and good luck on your future endeavours
  2. Been looking at either Cisco or ubiquiti. Just want something reliable that will last for a very long time. "Cisco doesn't generally have all-in-one router/AP/switch devices." Didn't realise this at the moment going through Cisco products its like an adventure hunt on a brick wall nothing to look at and very little information around on where to look
  3. Thanks for all of your advice, I will try the IP pass through next I have a look at it. Looking at subnets are they not the same? Do you mean they are on different subnets because they are on different IP address ranges? Changing the Asus router to AP mode, will this disable the Ethernet ports? Moving on from the ASUS router what cisco do you think would suit what I am looking for?
  4. I have manually configured the gateway ip settings, the asus server does all the dhcp for connected users (wifi and ethernet), I would however like to kepe the netgear m5 wifi on. I realise this is a little bit backwards especially how you have suggested there could be conflicts. I have attached some images, would you say the way this is configured completely negate the potential ip conflict?
  5. Currently running the Asus GS-AX3000 dual-band WiFi 6 gaming router with a Netgear M5 Nighthawk Mobile broadband router supplying internet via the WAN port to the Asus. Asus keeps disconnecting forcing me to have to restart the netgear router and the asus router to get the internet running again. I am using the Asus GS to supply the house with internet as the Nighthawk only has 1 ethernet port. I am looking at replacing the asus router as it is driving me up the wall especially with all the software issues it has been causing me of late. Started looking at Cisco Wifi router's but unsure where to start. I am looking for something that runs WIFI 6 and can be supplied internet through my mobile broadband router. The normal internet in my area is slower so I am relying on a 5G unlimited data sim from O2 (an english mobile provider) for internet. Open to other suggestions other then cisco but looking for something with rock solid performance and quality. Budget is around 200- 300ish pounds (GBP).
  6. Not sure if this is the right section of the forum but it seems close enough so I am going to go with it. Currently looking to get faster windows 10 boot times need a drive minimum 2tb. Currently running the samsung 860 pro 2TB ssd. Want something faster. Current boot time is 16 seconds. Possibly being a little snobbish asking for faster boot time but what the hell you only live once. What do you suggest? faster ssd, m.2 drive, pcie ssd? Budget is 200GBP (or near enough) (+50/100gbp if you need to really just want some options as drive must be 2TB.) Currently running GIGABYTE Z490 AORUS PRO AX intel LGA 1200 with Intel i7 10700k, 32gb ram Nvidia Titan X (Pascal) NZXT 750W powersupply. NZXT C750 - NP-C750M-UK - 750 Watt PSU Also in the UK so something available on amazon (uk not usa) would be preferable. One other idea is it worth putting m.2 drive in pcie adapter? does it make it faster? Just thinking of what linus has done in previous videos Cheers p.s. running titan x pascal (bought used) as it seems quite comparable to all the modern graphics cards e.g. 2080ti and its good for what I run CPU, motherboard, RAM, powersupply were all bought new, its very new to me buying used graphics cards but I built this pc in August 2021 when GPU prices were living on the moon. I have a full tower case so space is not an issue.
  7. 5G cellular, not even sure If I have even scratched the surface, it all seems quite confusing. Really want something from a reputable brand if possible, there is so much chinese crap floating through the internet don't know where to look or where I should start. I'm all good in terms of wifi connectivity, really need to improve on my 5G cellular connections quality which I hope to achieve via an antenna upgrade (TS9 compatible, its the connector supported by the netgear m5 nighthawk)
  8. I would recommend checking here out: v . I would also recommend western digital over seagate, more reliable. Have a look at WD Blue or WD Black. Samsung is good for ssd's I personally would skip m.2 drives, while they are fast storage is very expensive especially considering when comparing against SSD. I personally have the NZXT C750. Priced well and plenty enough power if your running 1 gpu. In terms of GPU's prices are coming down but I would consider used if you want to get a good card for a good price. I am running a Titan X pascal which can be compared to 2080ti's. I would consider the 2070 super, or 2080 depending on how your budget is going, they are a generation behind the 3000 series but they will be cheaper and are still solid video cards. I would even consider getting a used pc case, they are much cheaper and give you more room in your budget for other options. have a look around ebay. I personally avoid tempered glass, currently rocking a corsair 650D (I think) which I got for 50GBP on ebay. Amazing price I know especially for a full tower case, fans included. I would recommend the be quiet! BK022 Dark Rock Pro 4, 250W TDP, CPU cooler, Black It is air cooling, which there is a air vs water cooling argument to be made BUT there is no water pump to fail so this is more reliable. I am currently rocking the i7 10700k and it sits at a cool 39C. I would recommend looking at this one, 8 cores 16 threads, a generation old BUT the motherboards are much much cheaper. I am talking in the region of (250ishGBP) what I spend VS 300, 400 or maybe even 500 GBP for the newest interation. You do really need to balance all of this out as PCI E Generation 4 can be found on newer tech. The generation behind for argument for intel compares just as much to ryzen. The motherboards are still exorbitantly expensive. I personally am sticking to Intel, I would recommend reading many articles, reviews and linus/youtube videos to come to an informed decision. Older ish tech may also be on sale or more available. I would also recommend depending on your cpu to weigh up getting faster or slower RAM the price ranges for this is very big. I got the Corsair CMK32GX4M2Z3600C18 VENGEANCE LPX 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 DRAM 3600MHz C18 AMD Ryzen Memory Kit - Black. was 155GBP at the time, now selling for 119GBP (I built my pc in August 2021). Coming from a laptop (had a desktop many years before this). 3200MHz it is fast and FAST enough reading from what I have and what I am using it in. Faster ram can be had BUT you will need to see if it is compatible with your motherboard. Faster ram can only speed things up to a point. Looking at motherboards, I went for the GIGABYTE Z490 AORUS PRO AX intel LGA 1200 ATX Motherboard (12+1 Phases, Intel WiFi 6 802.11ax, Intel 2.5GbE LAN, HDMI, USB 3.2 Gen 2, Type-C, RGB FUSI Built in WIFI and many pci e slots. May be PCIE gen 4 compatible, don't remember. I don't use Gen 4 PCIE for anything may consider in a future build. Just to note Gen 3 PCIE is enough for graphics cards, storage cards (Think PCIE SSDs) are taking advantage of the faster speeds available on PCIE generation 4 BUT they are very expensive. I am personally running a Samsung SSD 860 PRO 2tb boot drive VERY FAST (around 16 seconds to boot fully loaded into windows.) that is how fast it is. more then fast enough for me to not even consider m.2 drives. If you are considering m.2 drives one thing to look out is they use your PCIE lanes (a cpu only has so many) so this may cause a slot to be disabled if you decide to use the m.2 slot available on your motherboard. Another thing is there are different types of m.2 drives, you get SATA and NVME which are different technologies. They are also keyed differently which means not all m.2 drives are compatible with all motherboards, I would look into this. If your looking into monitors I would consider 1080p (unless you want the 1080p vs 1440p argument) this resolution is priced very well. I am running the Dell Ultrasharp U2422H, it was on sale. I got it for 293.63GBP at the time, it is a 1080p 60Hz 24 inch monitor, I love it. I personally can not stand the thick bezels on gaming monitors. I again would read some reviews before choosing a monitor. (p.s. I bought 2 of these and are running them via displayport) This monitor also has usb ports on the back and on the botton for a total of 4 usb ports. 1 is usb c and others are usb type A.
  9. Hello I currently own a Netgear M5 nighthawk mobile 5G compatible modem router. I am currently looking to upgrade the antenna setup as it is used inside and would like to make more capability of the 5G available in my area. I am based in the UK. I have been looking into Ubiquiti's airmax antenna line for this a little but seem to have gotten stuck. I would like an antenna that could be make to connect via TS9. Throw as much information at me as possible. I am flexible on my budget. I don't care if it is an outdoor antenna, still currently planning to leave it indoors. I would like an omni directional antenna. Maybe 6dbi gain. Attached photo is current readout for signal strength. RSRP floats between -105 to -120 Really want to improve connection quality. Thank you p.s. please try suggest something on amazon if possible. Cheers
  10. I have this idea of making of program that can find products on the ebay website and gives you a value on how well they sell taking the history into account. There is a feature which shows you sold listings however it is a very manual arduous process and I have an idea that if it can be slightly automated it could make a slightly higher chance of turning a profit. Taking this into account I would also like to make a feature that shows the percentage ebay takes (final value fee 12.8%) and roughly how much of a gap (or margin) you need to make a profit. For example if you buy a product say 300 + 10 for shipping the cost associated in getting the product is 310; selling the product is a different matter as you have to take tax, ebay fees and shipping as well as market value price for the product which if your not careful you could unknowingly be making a loss. Say the product sells for 320 + 10 for shipping, with no calculations used it looks like a gain of 10 however after ebay cut of 12.8 you actually have lost 22.24 (not including taxes) I have no experience coding and was wondering if there was anyone that could help me on this. Cheers
  11. It has its own separate power connection. Running fiber doesn't seem like a bad idea, would you mind linking something perhaps amazon with converters as I don't really know how to tell the difference between them on which would work for ethernet.
  12. Hello Just looking for some ideas on extending wifi from my home to the shed approximately 10 meters away. I currently have bt premium whole home wifi 3 discs for wifi in my home which works well although it does not provide an adequate reliable connection to the shed. been looking at this https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B073XGP26Z?tag=georiot-trd-21&th=1&psc=1&ascsubtag=trd-gb-8711475017489349000-21&geniuslink=true EnGenius ENS500-AC MultiPoint CPE AC Bridge However I don't want a bridge but an access point that can operate inside my home to then extend the wifi to the bottom of the garden. Don't have the option of running an ethernet cable. I do however have the option of providing mains power (vs poe) for the device. Any ideas what might be suitable? I would like it to be able to support Netflix, gaming and maybe 4k streaming with light browser usage. Would like something simpleish to setup but something perhaps with a high gain antenna. Continuing I do not have the option to mount anything on the outside, It is passing through 2 concrete walls, 1 from my home's office and the second to the shed down the bottom. Would like to spend around 100gbp no more then this preferably. see image attached Thank you
  13. A little lost here don’t know where to put this. here goes, so my car uses the Siemens vdo CD-R 500 radio. In search of parts specifically the cdm m6 4.6 cd element as original part stopped playing cds and failed to eject them. Still trying ebay seems to only be 1 seller in Portugal for anything close to these sorts of parts however parts frequently arrive faulty go figure I know these are very old parts but just wondering if anyone else knows where to look for something like this. I have tried gumtree and shpock but no luck. Looking to spend under 50gbp preferably. thank you
  14. currently looking at either The Lenovo Thinkbook 15 (with below specs) or the Toshiba Satellite Pro C50-H-108 (i5, 8gb ram, 512gb storage) i7 1065G7 GPU: Intel UHD Graphics Storage: 512GB NVMe SSD From Samsung RAM: 16GB OS: Windows 10 I am not too bothered with thunderbolt, I am not bothered about i5's and i7's current have a limited selection with varying prices and just wanted someone's person opinion on these 2 models. I understand there is different battery life's for these 2 I am happy with both. Neither have led backlight, I am willing to accept this. Both will be brand new. Differences which i can't decide on are port options, which will be better for typing, partially build quality, weight is not an issue Other model which I am still considering is the ASUS a509ja-ej079t Which would you take personally and why? I am not looking at doing anything graphics heavy, steam is out the window for this I will look in the future just want separate machine for gaming (maybe even build a desktop) just need something movable/semi portable; can't seem to find enough reviews for all these models to make my mind up. Don't worry about what is in stock I am happy to wait. Thank you
