  2. Well, I hadnt realized until this giveaway, but looking at the stats, that 1250 silent is actually very impressive! I would love to get my hands on one of those, as well as the rest of the silent fans and the case to house them all! I recently built my pc, cheaped out on everything but the gtx 970, which I am sure some will still consider cheaping out, but money is hard to make these days.. Regardless that 1250 is my favorite by far, I am sure itll get my K processor going better than the stock dust blower thing on it.. Also being able to hear myself whilst my pc is running would be a most welcome change!
  3. Need one of these for a new build! Gimme! And what i like about the 900 series in general is the much more affordable pricing for being so high performance, as well as the ludicrously low power draw! gonna save me some cash on the PSU, as well as being cheaper than the previous cards on its own! Before this review, I didnt notice the amp or the omega, but what I like the most about them is their performance now! Everything else is tertiary for me, second most important thing being FPS!
  4. I am considering getting this monitor, but I was wondering, how is the ultra wide supported by games, or do they need to be? e.g. how would something like league of legends work with the aspect ratio on this thing?
  5. when you say minimum psu (X)watts, anything above that number will give maximum performance right? The number is I assume a little above the maximum system draw?
  6. I was under the impression that they overcloak their GPU's, and the power consumption diagrams at the benchmark section are for the card alone: http://youtu.be/t2QpCtsL5L0?t=9m30s Luke says the 980 will consume 380W under load, but then what you say makes a lot more sense. Thank you very much
  7. I have been patient and waited for the 900 series graphics cards, which are rated at about 170W, though in the linus channel, they have somehow managed to get a maximum draw of 370W! So when I put my components in a calculator, for a hypothetical future build of 2 SLI GTX 980, a 4790K, H110, etc etc it calculates about 580W... Now this is clearly not true, since 2 980s can apparently draw 720W collectively on their own. Hefty intro aside, to sum up, what psu do I need for: 4690k water cooling and a gtx 970 with an sli down the line with 2 ssds, an hard drive, ALL overcloaked to dust Thanks in advance
  8. Well, the idea is, you dont have to be a space hobo We prefer to have a friend that sticks with us, share the bounty, even if you get your own ship, fly together, when we have valuable cargo, share the score, and all that. If you dont wanna fly fighters, stay in the constellation all you want and so on. We basically are looking for a smaller group of, not necessarily 'pro's' but competent players, who are willing to stick around together, form a smaller 'team' if you will. That being said, looking forward to playing with you I imagine itll be a couple months till I finish the desktop and get my ships, dont know about my cousin, he has his build finished so he might get in at any point.
  9. Alright, I realised that when I followed the link. Thanks for the info though. I will apply there at one point to, just need to finish building the PC and get the ships first
  10. Thank you Caito. I guess Ill move this post over there.
  11. My first post in these forums, so I am unaware of a format if there is one, I have been following star citizen for a while, and am really excited. Building a PC for it, peripherals and all that good stuff. Me and my cousin decided to pledge some ships in it, a hornet for dogfighting, escorting and a 315i for exploration. However we are thinking of getting a constellation together. From what I've seen so far, it needs a crew of 4 to really be "worth" it.. Also we want to buy and train on it as soon as its flight ready with a module. The question is, is there any groups already formed, who would take us in and promise us some crew for the ship. I imagine it would need to be 8-10 people or so with a TS server to ensure that we always get at least 1 more guy to man a turret or fly the merlin. Our buying of the ship depends on the confidence that we will be able to utilise it fully. So for any group interested in having us, a little about us, we have been gaming for over a decade, and based in Europe. We love flight sims, and although we have a tight working schedule, we strive for immersion and improving our skills each moment in the game. We hope to mostly exploit resources, mine/trade/smuggle/look for resources etc, and only fight for reasonable profit or to defend ourselves. Essentially we want to be influential in the SC community from the start, may it be wealth or firepower. Hefty text here, though I might add, we arent this dull once the formalities are out of the way
  12. Finally, I saw Gigabyte gaming GT has 2 PCIEX8 slots, whereas Gaming 3 has 1 PCIEX8 and 1 PCIEX4 slot, is this important for SLI/CF?
  13. So, this is what I decided to build, Case - Aerocool GT-S PSU - Seasonic X-1250 MB- Gigabyte Z97 Gaming 3 CPU- i7 4790K GPU- R9 290x or GTX 780ti (brand unsure) Ram- Kingston HyperX (1x8GB) (for future upgrade) SSD- 240 GB Kingston CPU Cooler - 120mm Seidon Water Cooler Seems to be in my budget, and meet my needs, with good future proofing. The PSU is overkill, but on discount. Before I go and buy the parts, is it all compatible, no bottle necks, or bad choices?
  14. Ive owned laptops all my life, but throughout my childhood, Ive been gaming away quite a few hours. With uni over and some extra cash and time, I decided to get back into it, and I want to do it proper this time. 1) Budget 2000 Dollars (Could but rather not go over) 2) Max everything, maybe some AA at 1080p, for the next year or two (I mainly want to be prepared for Division, and Star Citizen, though I tend to lend all the big titles as they come up) 3) 1 Main monitor, maybe an extended desktop in the future with a second monitor 4) I have got my mouse, and keyboard already, I need a monitor though (24" preferred) 5) I have no other parts, building from nothing up. My main questions are, how can I meet my aim, and keep as much of my money. 1) Should I get the top GPU now, or consider a future SLI/Crossfire in the future, and start lower end? (I want everything I play smooth, and high settings) 2) Should I wait till 5th gen intels or the next gen GPUs? 3) any buck I can save, helps me, so can I do what I want in a creative way, like mantle, or 3 way crossfire or something? 4) Monitor TF or IPS? I realize this is a lot of questions, so I appreciate the time spent answering them.
