You should watch it, UFD Tech is a pretty well respected TechTuber. You missed the point of both the introduction and thumbnail/title. He's making fun of other people like Carey Holzman for talking about Linus being a greedy YTuber swinging the copy-strike hammer. That's why you should watch a video and understand it before making a random post criticizing it, jumping to conclusions like the people that falsely accuse Linus ?‍♂️.

That's actually a really good summary of the situation. He's done a very good job of explaining the situation without being unnecessarily critical of anyone involved. For anyone who wants to know what all the drama is about and doesn't want to read or watch through a bunch of crap, I highly recommend watching that video.

I blame the timing of all this, as in a blame Vox and The Verge. This would have been a non event a week or so ago, people are jumping to this assumption due to the recent case in which a copyright strike was issued to take down videos. I honestly believe that is the only reason people are pitchforking right now, because they don't understand the Youtube copyright systems and they have a recent event to draw from and assuming it's the same situation.

Go to 16:52. He gets a prank call, he immediately hangs up and says "well, it seems we've got some fans of Linus", and then goes on to say "if you are on that side of the argument, then you are with those people who are doing that". He seriously needs help, this isn't normal.

normally i hate the term "snowflakes"  but the current trend in P.C. culture is getting seriously ridiculous. people are going out of their way to get offended by everything these days.

This is very important to remember. there is an automated system looking for keywords and automatically striking the video. by the time somebody has manually reviewed it, theyve already lost money to views that they wont get back.

they need to dial back the automated system a lot

Political correctness at its finest. If he was referring to the word "dyke" in an offensive manner I could understand, but all this because it's his last name?
YouTube has become nothing more than a joke now.

No, you're the one who misunderstands the law.
What the law demands is that companies, or maybe even individuals at companies, could be strong-armed and gag ordered to implement security vulnerabilities.

The Australian government wanted (and maybe got?) the power to, if first granted by a court, go to an individual at a company, tell them that they must implement a way for them to spy on someone, and if that individual tells anyone else, including their boss or someone else at the company, they can be sent to prison.

There are some extremely vague and bullshit parts in the law such as "it can't be a systemic weakness" but since it has not been defined what that is, it's up to some (probably) technologically illiterate law person to make judgements about how certain backdoors could or couldn't be used in a systemic way (spoiler: any weakness which achieves the goal of spying on a single individual can be used in a systemic way).

I don't think a single non-partial security researcher or software developer has said that the law is a good idea. If they have then they are quite frankly morons. In fact, the only people educated in the subject I have seen have been against it. The only people I have seen which agrees with this are those who don't understand how software and security works, or potentially have vested interests.

ah, the well known tactic of "diverting the blame" (most likely to Russia, because they are the current favourite go-to scapegoat) because there is no way the australian people could be upset at you for such a stupid system after making comments saying that "the laws of mathematics dont apply in Australia"

The Australian Parliament network was compromised in the latest hack. This comes weeks after the Australian Government passed an anti encryption bill and shows how useless the Australian Government is when it comes to technology.
