  1. they said the switch to lumberyard took only 2 days. I was amazed.
  2. Linus' reference to the game in a video today sums up my current attitude toward future prospects. https://youtu.be/ggIjr5Z0N10?t=1m57s But I always get extra salty when I see CIG devs on twitch chats making unprompted defences about "we didn't promise" when people are just chatting amongst themselves about how it sucks when CIG changed a thing from how it was when they asked people to buy it.
  3. Development is chugging along at a pretty good rate if you ignore all the dates they put out in the big marketing presentations. People pointing out these things take forever are good to keep in mind when you see their advertising/"community engagement" stuff. If they can't work out the netcode for the game to run over the next year, maybe call it dead. If they get 3.0 out in the next 6 months to a year and its actually a fun star system to play around in, with fully fleshed out planets space stations etc., it seems like it is pretty rapid dev on a massive scale if you ignore all the dates they give and just look at the work.
  4. Saturday is not just the LTT meetup or Rentaspoons Birthday, there is also a UK bar citizen (Fulham, London) with special guests Sandi and possibly Chris. Not going myself but figured I'd post here it as its not posted anywhere most people look. Details here https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/308332/
  5. If it is like last time, it might be worth keeping the page up if you still have it. When last years round of javelins had some transactions fail after 24 hours with bad payments, they popped back in the store. People could then complete the purchase. They might have changed how it works now, but it worked for people last time.
  6. Its not every day Garry Oldman sends you a thank-you video. You're welcome Garry.
  7. The timers are wacky. the front page has 1:30 from now, the livestream page has 3:30 from now. https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/14999-CitizenCon-2015-Livestream
  8. Mainly its about blowing up space ships and being crew on Spaceships as they get blown up. But it also has a bunch of stuff like trading, shooting people in the head in spacestation or alien planets, salvaging derelict space wrecks, etc. If you're worried about their funding just watch their big annual convention livestream on Saturday, when a bunch of sci fi nerds throw their wallets at their computers while holding back enough for the bigger November anniversary sale. When's it coming out? Don't believe any dates they give for anything. The real answer is when it's done.
  9. Too good. "The Future of gaming... Is in the past."

  10. Pretty wierd he's tweeting about Star Citizens robots.txt file blocking the whole site from archive.org today. Especially when it doesn't. I tried to help one of his fav/retweeters out by giving him a link to the robots txt file so he could look at it and see it only blocks the /media/ directory. He then showed DS a google cache of the same file from Sept. 5th as evidence they had been blocking the whole site for months. Strange. Edit: not Beer 4 the beer god, I saw him post about it after I posted here. Was a random canuk.
  11. Someone on reddit took the time to look up the quotes from the "anonymous sources" and found they were literally just cut and pate lines from posts on glassdoor. A site anyone can post to with no proof of having worked somewhere. Pretty terrible example of jounalism, accused CIG of racist hiring practices based off some anonymous post on a glorified messageboard open to everyone, while passing it off as communication with ex-employees. https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/3n6lum/escapist_anonymous_sources_uncovered/
  12. The medical respawn point and spare/rental ship hangar really add to the value of having a hope tag along in big battle. Its a shame that that configuration uses all the module slots, throwing the over-clocking collider or the gardens on there would provide stuff to do if no one is dying. Do the hope medical modules provide any gameplay that doesn't require injured/dead people? Can you use them for meth production or is that limited to one of those base modules?
  13. The first person stuff and all the other stuff mentioned above covers most of it. I'd just add a few things about the different feel of the games, at least that I got from them. I think the flight models are very different: Elite is more airplane type flight compared to SCs more Battlestar Galactica Viper type flight. The pacing might be different too: Elite is much slower paced combat, at least in fighters. Though the cap ships might be comparable. The scale is different: Elite is massive and accurate (therefore a bit barren) version of the Milky Way, SC will have (eventually) about 100 systems that are much higher in detail, with more to do in each system in a made up universe. I think both games are worth owning. For me Elite is a bit slow and gives me more of a single player feeling but good for relaxing in. Some Elite players absolutely hate the flight model and fast pacing of SC's fighters currently available in the small arena in the "Arena Commander" alpha test thing. I'm a bit shit with the fighters, looking forward to the bigger multicrew ships being released. They'll probably do another free week sometime not too far off (they do a lot of them). If you feel like trying it out without spending $45, wait for a "free fly" week.
  14. This DS thing keeps getting weirder and weirder. It was funny at the very beginning before he started his blogs and was just being a hypocrite on twitter with the Duke Nukem Forever guy. Those two talking about stalled projects that would never work was pretty funny in a unaware self-parody way. It has just been getting progressively darker and weirder as time passes. This flame war with the guy who is so ill he needed Electro Shock can't end well. Smart is saying on reddit that guy is a sex pest who sends RSI forum users dick pics now. It is probably as fake as the rest of the stuff he comes out with, but I worry it won't end well for one of them.
