Sport Driver got a reaction from DeerDK in RTX 4070 vs RX 6950XT
Thank you everyone for help. I ordered RX6950XT from Amazon.es It is lowest price I could find in Europe. Stock AMD design. I will try with this case and we will see how it goes. I checked and it is exactly 5 years and a week since I ordered my current RX480 4GB 😄 So it is getting retired finally.
If it helps anyone here is the link.

If you're on a 1440p ultrawide, 8GB of VRAM will not be sufficient going forward. 1440p ultrawide is nearly 4K in terms of resolution. Also, the 3070Ti is slower than those cards by a noticeable amount.

The savings are not insubstantial, but we're also dealing with New vs Used, so you should be able to do better than matching price/performance compared to new, but it would only be a bit better than the 6950XT in terms of cost per FPS.

    So overall, I don't think that's a great deal.

Are there any good deals on 6700XT/6750XT cards? They're in the ballpark of 3070Ti performance, but have 12GB of VRAM.

I think you would be happy with either option.

The 6950XT vs 4070 debate is probably the most interesting in the entire GPU space right now, because they are priced about the same, and the features on the 4070 like better RT, DLSS and AV1 support are likely to help it age better, but the 6950XT has just enough more VRAM and just enough additional raw performance that it could potentially age better instead. It really depends on what games look like 3-5 years from now. Do they go the route of using a ton more RT effects? Do they require a ton more VRAM? If both, which card does better? That's hard to predict.

Personally, if both are priced similarly, I'd go with the RX 6950XT. Historically, more VRAM and raster performance are more important than side features.

Remember Nvidia PhysX? Pepperidge Farm remembers. And while it had a decent run, today, there are basically no games that require an Nvidia GPU to use it. Back in the early 2010s, you could see side-by-side comparisons of games with it On vs Off, like you do today with RT, and see noticeable differences, but today, games just run the physics on the CPU, whether they use PhysX or some other physics engine. It is entirely possible that RT will ultimately meet a similar fate, where any GPU can just run RT to an acceptable level, and that Nvidia's RT cores no longer give them a meaningful advantage. But raw performance and VRAM will remain - potentially forever - as important factors.

get the 6950 xt for the performance. 4070 for the power savings

variable flow rate or setting a curve is fine to, but people over complicate this as the curve adjust based on the CPU temp or water temp when it should adjust based on load not temp but that doesn't exist so a static speed is just easier to work with especially for an aio

Crazy. I was running High TDP and high voltage in my CLC days. I cant say I ever felt warm air coming off the rad. I wasn't using stock fans, but still. I always had my rad drawing from outside and exhausting into my case. Sounds like you need to forget about silence and turn up the fans over 500rpm for awhile 😄

The air is a fair bit warmer when the cpu is loaded. If it would only be a couple degrees those rads would suck :P. You can look it up more than enough tests done. Either way even 2c in the h510 coupled with even less airflow due to a front rad really hurts the gpu for temps.

I recently switched to a new case and cooling
Old case: Lian Li O11 Dyn with 360 AIO
New case: BQ 500DX with Noctua NH-D15S

I dropped both temps and noise with air-cooling.

The standard H510 has terrible airflow because of the closed front panel.
Because of the limited airflow in the case I believe the AIO could be slightly better than air-cooling.

I would suggest air-cooling with BQ Dark Rock 4 but with a different case (with mesh front).
    BQ 500DX
    Corsair 4000D Airflow
    Lian Li LANCOOL II Mesh
    Phanteks P400A
    Fractal Meshify
    Cooler Master TD500 Mesh

I feel like you drastically over estimate the temp of air after the rad... which is generally only 1-2c warmer (not much) so as long as you have adequate exhaust your gpu temps will remain largely the same.

oh you bought the case all ready. well... it's available for a reason 🤣 anyway, these worked for me:
    1. no additional fans cpu gets 5-10c warmer but better gpu.
    or
    2. just install 1 front fan (the upper one only). if you install a fan at the lower part, it messes with the airflow for the GPU. because the air coming in from the pci slots are interfering and disrupts the airflow altogether.

The meshify c should be the price of a h510 and is basically identical to the meshify 2. In the h510 basically every cooler kinda sucks and watercooling makes it terrible for the gpu as the only place for a 240 is in the front aka the only fresh air intake and then you get the hot air from the cpu all over the inside of everything thus heating the remainder of the components even more.

The dark rock is better than the ml240r.

Don't get that case either way it has terrible airflow get something with a mesh front that will matter a lot more than the cooler as then your hardware can actually get some fresh air instead of being chocked and running toasty (and thus louder). Putting a aio in the h510 only makes it far worse for the gpu.

Yes it is better and worth the extra money, so would be others like Noctua's NH-U12 and NH-D15 for example. The Hyper 212 is a fair bit better than AMD's stock cooler master heatsink (the one that came with Zen, Zen+ and Zen 2 processors) but no match against a real tower cooler like the Dark Rock.

Searching for a 6800 XT which should be available starting at 650€, I can only find prices 999€ and up... I'm not trying to defend Nvidia here, especially given their recent behavior (think Hardware Unboxed), but AMD isn't exactly doing any better.

Aomei Backupper (worst name ever) is by far my favorite, even tho it has gotten really obnoxious with their dumb ads over the last couple of years.
It even supports a sector by sector clone, which I always recommend doing when transferring an entire OS.
