  1. Apologies to bump an old topic, but looking for the same info, would you be able to share the mounting hole dimensions?
  2. this is awesome, thanks to linus and HTC. Twitter link: https://twitter.com/ejen92/status/340566044710141952
  3. People who use caps lock to do single capital letters like "I" or names. Companies trying to 'improve' things and breaking them (youtube, facebook, etc) Apple fanboys (if you want to buy apple a product then go ahead, but at least accept that there are alternatives which can sometimes be better) Spending a long time researching computer components for friends who just go and ignore me completely Arrogant people (hypocritical) People who walk 3 or 4 aside along the pavement (sidewalk) and don't make room for people walking towards them People wearing odd socks or wearing 'days of the week socks' on the wrong days
  4. I should be revising for my last exam of my final year at uni
  5. Yeah not too great a fan of buying components off ebay. The boost edition has a GHz edition GPU and has a higher clock and memory afaik. Also am going to watercool/overclock the card in 3-6 months time so wanted a card which would handle it well.
  6. Am trying to get a 7970 Lightning Boost Edition and then watercool it (EK has a block for it), does anyone know of somewhere I can find one of these as the only places i have found are either silly money like £500 or on "pre-order" with an unknown arrival date. Would appreciate any alternatives (7970 GHz cards only though), budget is £400 max.
  7. yeah sure, haven't worked that bit out 100% yet, probably ssd to back of mobo tray and 2 HDD on the back of the 5.25" bay cover, will upload some more pics/sketchup's soon as I'm back at uni as I've got a couple of packages waiting for me :)
  8. I thought I had put them in correctly :s Will try again
  9. Project Hazardous Hello all, and welcome to my build log, unfortunately it's going to be a bit static for the next month or two while I amass funds, ideas and boxes of parts here and there but thought I would share my ideas with people while I am waiting for the get go. On the plus side I have a few bits and bobs already so will be lots of piccy's of cable sleeving and unwrapping of parcels :o Most of the components for this build will be coming from my current PC: Current PC Specs: Case - NZXT Switch 810 matt black CPU - Intel 3570k OC to 4.3GHz Mobo: Asus Z77 Sabertooth Ram - Corsair Dominator Platinum 1866 (2x4GB) GPU - ATi 4870 1GB --> Will be being updated to a MSI 7970 lightning with possibility of either Xfire or a PhysX card (funds depending) SSD - Samsung 830 256GB HDD - 1x WD Caviar Black 640GB 1x WD Caviar Green 2TB PSU - OCZ ModXstreme 700W --> Will be being updated to something ~1000W Things still to buy: Case - TJ07 MSI 7970 Lightning Boost Edition ~1000W PSU Watercooling: XSPC Raystorm CPU Block EK 7970 lightning block EK D5 X-Res 140 D5 pump Bitspower black fittings 480mm Rad 240mm Rad Clear Tubing Mayhems Sunset Yellow Pastel Concept & Design When I first thought about this build I was going to do it in my current case which is a matte black Switch 810, but as time has gone on I kept coming back to the TJ07, there is something simply stunning about the shape and design of it that makes it irresistible. When I started looking more at the TJ07 I started to see lots of different ways I could make the build personal and not just 'another' watercooled rig. The first idea was to blank off the front 5.25" bays and either make a custom panel or have one made, then I started thinking instead of just having a blank panel why not make it a feature of the build and mount a res behind some acrylic. This led to my first mock up in SketchUp: With some time and effort this eventually got refined to it's current state: The 45 degree fitting and tubing on top is a fill port and won't be connected all the time. Hopefully I can think of some kind of graphic to go up the right hand side (similar to the murdermod front panel's but different design). View installed in case: Inside the case I will be putting a 480mm radiator with just push fans along one side at the bottom and the PSU and a push/pull 240 along the other side, with the air from the 480 passing through the PSU and the 240. This should mean that the top half of the case should stay 100% dust free as I will be using a modded back plate with no fans and the top mesh will be replaced with smoked or clear acrylic. I will be using noctua NF-F12 fans but dying the plastic (as opposed to painting them), still trying to work out whether to go with all black or black with yellow fans (obv a lot harder to dye the noctua reddy/brown colour to yellow than it is to dye it to black). Anyway, thanks for looking, would love to get people's impressions/feedback, I will be updating the thread as I get more stuff to post pictures about.
  10. I know they do, I have them at the moment, removal of the preinstalled light bar shows LED's installed on either end of the ram which the acrylic "light bar" rests on, allowing light to go through it, that way by swapping this with any acyrlic that allows light to pass through it will allow any colour to be used rather than just blue or white, this is important as although white looks cool some red acrylic would look awesome on an ROG board and yellow would be cool with an Mpower Z77 board.
  11. and yellow!!! (which sucks if you have either or both of mpower z77 mobo/lightning graphics card)
  12. Afaik the LEDs are on the memory, this just sits on top of them and allows the light to pass through and obviously because they are clear acrylic some escapes out of the top. I was wondering about different colours and I got thinking, a nice bit of clear fluorescent red (or green or yellow or any colour its made in) acrylic, a dremel and there you go a diy light bar!!
  13. not quite sure how it works, whether the ram has the LED in it or not, I think its literally a new top and a bit of acrylic for $30
  14. Corsair has finally announced them, by the looks of it its just a new metal top and a clear plastic bar lens, I wonder how easy it would be to do a diy lens? linkyhttp://www.corsair.com/us/dominator-platinum-light-bar-upgrade-kit.html
  15. Thanks a lot for all the help, definitely won't be doing multi monitor gaming in the near future, 3D is more likely but still probably not. I'm still deciding whether to wait for Nvidia or not, the new AMD cards spec recently came out and the 8970 is exactly the same as the 7970 so will see if there is any news from Nvidia soonish, if not I'm thinking of going EVGA 670 FTW 4GB, AMD seems to be a sinking ship at the moment and there is no point buying something from a company that is looking so poor (financially as well as figuratively). Worst scenario with a 670 is that I sell it to a friend for a slight loss and get a 7XX card when they come out.
