Building Our Own CPU Water Block?!?
Computer King replied to AlexTheGreatish's topic in LTT Releases
I built my own water cooler in high school using a vertical milling machine. (Non CNC) Similar design. The copper I used was a 2 pound bullion bar from Provident Metals. The back plate I cut out from plate aluminum. To seal it I used Permatex waterpump and thermostat RTV silocone. I have been using the block in my system for years now without any issues.- 41 replies

Flashing LSI 3081e to IT mode?
Computer King replied to SG14_96's topic in Servers, NAS, and Home Lab
I have flashed an IBM ServeRAID M1015 / LSI SAS9220-8i using these steps: http://www.0x00.to/post/2013/04/07/Flash-IBM-ServeRAID-M1015-to-LSI9211-8i-with-UEFI-mainboard I don't know if it is possible with your card or not. -
I have a 980ti. I would use it to build a second computer that is more compact.

Got a coupon for Kanto YU5 speakers at the NCIX Tech Fair, just never used it. Coupon cannot be used online, in store only. Not even sure if they will allow it without the physical coupon. Sorry for the late notice. One coupon per person, first come first served. Code: YU5TECHFAIR2016-088595 http://www.ncix.com/detail/kanto-yu5-powered-bookshelf-speakers-60-96584.htm

Is your power supply strong enough? Is the card overclocked at all? Maybe try testing it in another system.

CableMod WideBeam LED Strip Giveaway
Computer King replied to nicklmg's topic in New Builds and Planning
I would really like to have the customization of these, especially since my current LED light has several bulbs that are no longer working. (Logisys 12" White LED tube) I would need at least 3 strips with foam adhesive for the inside and maybe 2 more for under lighting. My build is a water cooled Corsair Obsidian 800D: GTX 980 TI, Intel I7 3770k, Asus Maximus IV, dual Patriot Wildfire 120 GB SSDs, XFX Pro 1000W Black Edition power supply with sleeving, EK and Alphacool water cooling. -
Every computer should have an SSD in it. Mechanical hard drives haven't changed in speed very much and are usually the slowest component in a computer.

How do I make a RAID 1 with an existing HDD
Computer King replied to JaredB's topic in Storage Devices
Pretty sure you can just go into Disk Management, (under Computer Management) right click the drive and select add mirror. Not sure if you can do that with a hardware level raid and keep your data, you might be able to. -
Multi band router for my parents since they still use the stock Telus router. http://www.amazon.com/RT-AC3200-Tri-Band-Wireless-Gigabit-Router/dp/B00S9SGNNS

The 980 ti is limited by its maximum power limit of 110%. This is still enough to get some reasonable overclocks, however, if you want to get the most out of your card you will have to flash a custom BIOS onto it. I would recommend this since you are planning to water cool the card and the performance increase can be significant, but that's up to you. Instructions and modded bios can be found here: http://www.overclock.net/t/1558645/official-nvidia-gtx-980-ti-owners-club# Other overclocking results can give you an idea of what to expect: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1865303 My watercooled 980 ti with EK Titan X waterblock: 121% power limit 1.281v 1520 mHz Core clock (+330) 7872 mHz Memory (+430) (still tweaking, can probably go higher) ~40 degrees max temp From what I have observed from other people the 980 ti will usually not go much higher than 1500 mHz, even with higher power limits.
