Autodesk Inventor is the main 3D CAD software. Solidworks is a good 3D Cad software, but I prefer Inventor. AutoCAD is the main 2D CAD software available if you do 2D. If you are a student or a teacher, you can get Autodesk inventor Pro or AutoCAD for free through Autodesk's education service. This is an amazing deal considering the immense cost on Autodesk's side to provide this bonus. Here is a converter that takes any US measurement (like feet or miles) and converts it into inches, feet, yards, and miles and displays them all to the user. Its really useful to do quick and easy conversions. It could easily be adapted to metric also. https://gist.github.com/LernerProductions/5786703
